Loved this hotel! It is beautiful! Pros: Beautiful rooms, the sounds of waves crashing, great pools (we loved the salt water pool and the big pool with the swim up bar) and relaxing vibe. Cons: Gym was not air conditioned and stifling and food was meh. Shout out to Carlos Munoz and the valet staff. They are so friendly and helpful. They made our stay extra special. We want to come back some day!!

this hotel is absolutely beautiful. my family ended up staying here after the solaz shut down -- but it all turned out okay for a few reasons: the hotel itself is stunning and even more beautiful than in the pictures; drinks in pineapples at the swim up bar with little birds on them; and carlos!! if you get to meet carlos, your trip is made. carlos munoz is probably the best hotel staff we've ever met, he was so kind, so helpful, and hilarious. probably would come back to this hotel just to see him :) man deserves a fat raise!!!!

We had a long list of problems during our stay. I asked to speak with the General Manager, Miguel Mestas, on three separate occasions. I was told he would contact me each time, yet he did not. There were extremely long lines at check in, it took at least 20 minutes to get our beach chairs set up as we stood there baking in the very hot sun, the pools were falling apart with dangerous tiles coming off on the floor, my fiancée slipped and hurt her foot on the wet decks which are all over the pace without any grip, housekeeping took over an hour to arrive at our room each time we requested them, and they provided false information about the food at three separate restaurants putting my fiancée at extreme risk given her food allergies. This is just a few of the issues we faced despite staying in the Griffin Club, their high end boutique area. I will note, all of the butlers at the Griffin Club (Juan, Paul, Jesus) were truly excellent and made us feel very special, and were a highlight in an otherwise largely poor stay. Absolutely not a JW standard.

I'll preface this review by saying if you don't have status with Marriott, or it doesn't matter to you, you may take this review with a grain of salt. However, I wanted to review from the perspective of an Ambassador member for those who may be curious what to expect if you are hoping to get any extra perks here. Pros: - Resort really is very pretty and very well-maintained. It is large with plenty of pool and eating options, and we constantly saw staff cleaning and landscaping. - Staff is friendly and welcoming - We booked the most basic room - Ocean facing view w/balcony - and it was still quite an amazing room. We were right on the corner of the building with a balcony and had a spectacular view of the ocean and resort - we were actually glad we didn't pay more for another room because our location was so great. - Breakfast buffet in the morning had plenty of options and we always left full. - Beach chairs are first come, first serve. I know others may have their own opinions on this process, however I actually like this vs. having to make reservations or even pay for them. Because we are early risers, we were able to get our chair preference each morning by the pool in front of the ocean (be aware, many other early risers as well, so get your chair early if possible!). - It's not in the hustle bustle of downtown Cabo, and is still nearby shops and local restaurants, giving it a more low-key secluded vibe. Cons: - Most of my cons are from a status perspective. Prior to arrival, I've seen it's pretty typical for Marriott resorts and nicer Marriott brands to reach out ahead of time to welcome the Ambassador member and ask for special requests. That did not happen. - At check-in, Ambassador status was not acknowledged. It wasn't until near the end that I finally asked if any upgrades were available due to my Ambassador status that he quickly thanked me for it before pretty much saying "no sorry, we didn't have rooms." (Also worth nothing, my Suite Night Rewards were also not approved...a perk I yet to see much benefit in having with Marriott). - I at least thought there would be a welcome gift for status. Again, there was nothing there upon getting to the room. It wasn't until our third night there that someone came by with 3 custom Marriott cookies and a note thanking me for being an Ambassador. - Upon requesting housekeeping on our third day, we realized we were never given extra towels or soap (we literally had no soap left so I was confused why they wouldn't just replenish everything, especially since we weren't getting service every day). We had to call and request more. - Our first night, we realized our safe was broken so I immediately called down to have it repaired to which they said they'd send someone right up. Two days later, the safe still wasn't fixed so I called again and got the same response. When we left two days after that, no one had still come by. I guess the plus side is that our belongings were never disturbed...but I would have hoped for a an actual, quick response to this originally. - At peak hours, the wait time for the front desk and concierge was very long and there wasn't really a great way to group traffic because the space is so large. You basically have to keep an eye out to make sure no one cuts in front. Again, there is no special line or area for elite members. Overall, as I mentioned, if getting perks from your status isn't a priority, this is a lovely resort. However, I would have thought to have a little more of a welcome given an Ambassador stays at least 100 nights and spends $20K in a calendar year. If we return to Cabo again, I'll probably still do a little research to see if there is another resort where status is acknowledged and there is a better chance for an upgrade.

My husband, Drew, and I stayed at the JW Marriott Los Cabos July 10-20 and have just the most positive and wonderful things to say about our experience. First of all, the staff throughout the resort were very kind, helpful and very professional. It was hard for us to say goodbye as we felt we had formed relationships with some of the staff members during our stay. We felt the most bonded to the food and beverage team as we had breakfast included in our stay package. All of the hostesses, waitresses & waiters and those assisting with the delicious buffet breakfast deserve a huge shout-out. One team member that sticks out for phenomenal service is Ismael in food and beverage, as he was our server the first day we arrived and several times after that. You will find a photo of myself, my husband and Ismael on our last night when we said our farewells. You will also find a photo of a to go cup of coffee with a sweet note from our waitress at breakfast. On top of the 5 star service, the food was delicious and there was really something for everyone. The property itself was gorgeous with multiple swimming pools, a great fitness center, a beautiful spa, multiple wonderful restaurants and views to die for. We recommend this resort to all. We think this resort is great for families, couples and singles. Thank you to the JW Marriott Los Cabos for giving us the most relaxing 10 day vacation. Sincerely, Madison & Drew
