Nestled in a secluded yet accessible spot, Vista Encantada Spa Resort & Residences is celebrated for its spacious rooms with luxurious touches and enchanting views, despite some mentions of dated decor. The resort's array of amenities, including pools, a gym, and a spa, coupled with its exceptional service, contribute to its reputation for providing a value-packed and memorable stay. The atmosphere, enriched by live music and cultural authenticity, alongside the resort's cleanliness, are consistently applauded by guests. However, opinions on the all-inclusive packages and food quality do vary.

My friends and family have been returning to Vista Encantada consistently for the last few years because of its beautiful setting and outstanding customer service! The resort is at the end of a peninsula, and the views of the water are outstanding. The rooms are big and well appointed, and housekeeping always does a great job of keeping them looking great throughout our visits. The rooftop pool at Vista Encantada is awesome, and the pool at Phase One of the Hacienda Encantada side of the resort has great views (and sounds!) of crashing waves…. All that being noted, it is the people who work at the place who keep us coming back year after year–they consistently go above and beyond in big and small ways to make sure everyone is having a great time. There are a few who welcome us like family each year when we return–our concierge (“butler”) Humberto Millan and Jean-Louis Magron both take care of far too many things to count, and we are always so grateful for their kindness and outstanding service. Sandra in Mr. Magron’s office was also incredibly welcoming and helpful this year! We missed the singers who used to be in the Vista lobby this year, but we were so happy when Paul, one of the other “butlers,” got out his guitar and played some songs for us! We hope they give him a regular spot singing in that lobby: he is so talented! We had some amazing servers everywhere! At Pool One–Juan de Dios, Omar Peres, and Jesus Pluardo, who served at the cabanas were GREAT! The servers at the Vista Rooftop Bar–Martin, Angel, Misael, and all–were also topnotch! The hostess at Mestizo (Erika?) joyfully greeted us in the mornings and the woman who made fresh omelets cooked them just right! Everyone is just so friendly and fun! I also am grateful to the staff like Leslie who work behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly. Be sure to check out the spa and spa pool when you are there–Lupita and Angelica are great! I know I have gone on and on, but I can’t help myself because Vista Encantada/Hacienda Encantada is our favorite vacation spot, and the people who work there make the place feel like a home away from home!!

TL;DR Overview: great location, beautiful grounds, wonderful people, food was meh, some logistics are difficult. Read on for details. I've tried to be super descriptive to include things I wanted to know before we got here but couldn't find answers to.

Here are the basics: there were 4 of us, 2 adult parents, 1 adult daughter, and our 15 year old daughter. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa on the first floor. We were on the all-inclusive plan and did not cook any of our own meals.

Details:
- Arrival - this was honestly the most frustrating part. We had arranged private travel through the hotel but I never received the confirmation email with how to find our driver when we arrived. After multiple calls to the resort the day of our arrival, I was at least able to confirm the name of the transportation company. After some back and forth with the travel company rep we located near the transport area, we figured out we'd been scheduled to be picked up the next day. It was quickly resolved and we were on our way. Our transportation was a suburban and the trip was about 35 minutes.
--------
- Check-in - our check-in was super easy. Everyone was pleasant and welcoming. We did get charged for what they said was a remaining balance but that was quickly and easily reversed. Everyone in our party was given a bracelet with a sliding plastic piece that served as our room key as well. Super convenient! We were never wondering where our key was or reminding the others to make sure they had their keys before leaving the room.
--------
- Timeshare Offer at Check-in - before they take you to your rooms from check-in, you are introduced to their timeshare sales team. They offer you a breakfast and discounts on excursions or activities for attending. They were extremely polite and after a couple of firm declines, they happily sent us on our way.
--------
- Villa - we were in a 2 bedroom villa on the first floor - 1453. The villa is gorgeous with beautiful paintings, decor, and amenities. There is hardwood throughout and tile in the bathrooms. Specifics:
- Laundry room - a stacked washer/dryer - no supplies provided
- Kitchen - full size fridge with ice maker and freezer. It comes stocked with several cans of Coke, beer, bottles of water, and fruit juice. If you are on the all-inclusive it is included. If you're not, there's a price list in the fridge. There is a sink, stove, microwave, drip coffee machine, Nespresso machine with a small selection of pods, a blender, a full set of pots & pans, eating utensils, cooking utensils, wine glasses of all sizes, shot glasses, and regular drinking glasses. There are plates, empty salt and pepper shakers, and an empty Oil & Vinegar set. There is also a closet for storing multiple bottles of wine.
- Living area - includes a round 4-person dining table, a couch, and a chair. The living area has a ceiling fan and a large TV with remote.
- Master bedroom - a King 4-poster bed, 2 chairs, a ceiling fan, and a large area rug. There are two bedside tables with lamps and outlets built into the floor and walls. Beautiful artwork and a corner cabinet with the TV. The bathrooms are the shining star of the villas! There is a large closet with a luggage stand and hangers. Also included was the safe and a scale. A large tub sits in the middle of the bathroom and was comfortable and easy to use. The toilet room and the shower have a door for privacy. There are two rainfall shower heads and the water pressure and hot water availability were always good. There are two sinks and a hairdryer is included, as well as a makeup mirror. The bathroom includes shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion. The towels were good and there are two cotton/linen blend robes available.
- Double bedroom - two full beds and a small sitting area. Instead of a closet, there is a large built-in unit along the wall that has two small closets on each end and a tv in the middle. The 2nd bathroom is also gorgeous and includes a huge shower with two heads and an area to sit, as well as a toilet room. There is no bathtub in the 2nd room but it does also come with two sinks, the hairdryer, and the toiletries.
- Toilet room - there is a small bathroom right inside the front door, so there were 3 toilets in the villa.
- The Patio - because we were on the first floor, we had a swim-out pool. It was heated and had an amazing view of the shoreline. The pool is 4 feet deep and large enough for several people to chill in. It would be perfect for one person to float. The patio itself included a built-in grill, 4 lounge chairs, and a 4-person table. The landscaping is beautiful! The pool does connect to the other 1st floor villas but there is a fair amount of privacy. The pools in the 1453-1455ish block can be seen if you're looking down from the 4th floor lobby railing so no skinny dipping unless you want to be seen! :)
--------
Pools - the resort has multiple pools but Vista's pool is on the 7th floor of the Vista building. This is where the Mestizo restaurant is and the pool bar is called Atico. We did not use the elevators in any other part of the resort but in Vista you have to use your bracelet to access any of the floors via the elevator. There are stairs if you choose to walk. The rooftop pool is a gorgeous infinity pool but the entire pool and patio area has very little natural shade. There are umbrellas that the staff will open for you and towels are readily available.

Mestizo is where the breakfast buffet is so it's convenient to come up in the morning, choose your seats at the pool, and then eat. Children are allowed in this area but the pool itself is large so we were never disturbed by the kiddos that were around. There is a large ledge on one wall of the pool that allows people to sit in 18ish inches of water and there are loungers that sit in the water as well. There is a square shallow part of the pool where most of the children played and there is also a large, square hot tub at one end of the pool. There are bathrooms on each end of the large rooftop area. There is also a separate rectangle shaped jacuzzi that is maybe 20'x5' on the opposite side of the rooftop. There is food and drink service and plenty of staff to bring you what you order. There is also a small patio with a few dining tables if you choose to eat there instead of at your loungers. This area is also where a large gym is located.

- La Pergola Pool & Bar - a large pool with a swim-up bar. This is also the pool that includes the kid specific areas. We did not ever lounge at this pool but the area was nice.
- Il Forno Pizza, Pool, & Bar - we hung out at this pool twice during our stay. There are traditional loungers and umbrellas but there are also beds and hammocks. The service staff at this pool was stellar! (shout out to Isabel) The pool is 2 levels so there's a wall where water from the top pool spills over. This pool also includes several shallow areas and shelfs for lounging and a jacuzzi. The Italian restaurant, Barolo, is in this building complex as well.
- El Patio Snack & Pool Bar - this area fills up super fast! It's the adults only part and there are loungers around the pool and on the cliff top that overlooks the ocean. We were never able to find seats at this pool and it had a pretty festive vibe to it. It's a large pool with a swim-up bar but it closes at 5.
--------
Food - we elected to do the all-inclusive option since we weren't going to be here long enough to justify ordering groceries and cooking and we didn't want to have to account for food and drinks along the way. It was worth it to us.

What to know - even if you are on the AI plan, they are going to bring you a receipt to sign. It took us a few times to get the hang of it since we've never been to an AI resort where they made you sign the check. But it also gives you a spot to add gratuity. More often than not, we didn't add the gratuity to the receipt but put some cash with the check. The prices are in pesos so be prepared to do some quick math to figure out how much to tip if you write it in on the receipt.

Tipping - Yes, it's supposed to be included. If you don't tip, no one is going to haul you out of the resort. But it's a part of resort culture and is something that has been a practice at the 6 other AI resorts we've been to in Mexico. We came prepared with $200 in cash in ones and fives.

Restaurants - the food is not spectacular but it's not bad.
- Mestizo for breakfast - the buffet is nice but not huge. There are plenty of options for pastries and several types of bread for toasting. There are pancakes and french toast, several types of breakfast meat, an omelet bar, and hot dishes. There are also meat and cheese options, along with fresh fruit, yogurt, and parfaits. Every morning there was green juice, orange juice, and a rotating juice. Rounding out the available choices was cold cereal and milk. They serve coffee and several types of espresso drinks, as well as alcoholic beverages.
- Mestizo for dinner - the view was amazing and the sunset was spectacular! This was probably the best meal we had and our server, Hugo, made the dinner all the better. It's a good option for dinner and we ended up wishing we'd eaten here more.
- La Trajinera - this Mexican restaurant was where we ate our first night. It was okay. The guacamole and chips were good but the entrees were hit or miss. They did bring my daughter a fun dessert with a sparkler on it since we were celebrating her 21st birthday. We sat on the patio, which was pleasant. There is a piano but no one was playing it that night. We did hear music coming from there on other evenings.
- Il Forno Pizza - the pizza was solid and only a little greasy. It's thin crust and wood fired. At this place during the day, they also have typical pool-side bar fare. The chicken nuggets were frozen and fried but my 15 year old ate them fine. The wings were okay and the sauce was spicy. The best server we had during the day was Isabel and she was at this pool. She was super attentive and responsive!
- Barolo Cucina Italiana - we ate here for dinner one evening. It was - just - odd. The dishes sounded like elevated cuisine but the food was bland and inconsistent. It was fine and certainly edible but the dessert was the best part of the meal. We all agreed we didn't want to go back there and one visit was enough.
- El Eden Tequila Bar - this is the taco bar and we had dinner here one night. It was a solid option, though some of the meat was a bit chewy or fatty. All in all, the casual atmosphere and no need for reservations made it one of the better meals we had.
- Juice Bar - 2nd floor of the Vista building. The juices and smoothies were good and the sandwich we got from the juice bar was pretty tasty.
- Room Service - just don't. It's not worth it. I know room service is hard in a large resort as it is but the quality was not great and the food was cold and soggy by the time it got to us. We were being lazy but a quick jaunt to grab a couple of pizzas would have been a better move. Your mileage may vary. :)
--------
Excursions/Activities - our daughters rode horses one afternoon and they had a good time. This was the only excursion we booked through the hotel.
--------
Spa - I took advantage of an offer we received ahead of our stay. I got a cranial and foot massage, a chocolate full-body exfoliation, and a moisturizing facial. My husband had a Swedish massage. We both enjoyed the extra amenities of the jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, and the spa pool. The therapists were good and the spa area is pretty and clean.
--------
Final thoughts: it was a great week with lots of places to make good memories with our kids. The grounds and buildings are fantastic! The staff is marvelous and seem to enjoy working here. The things that kept me from making it a 5 star review:
- The ticketing system for food and drinks was easy enough to navigate but something that continued to be annoying. We totally understand that's a personal preference so it might not be a big deal for others but it's not this way at all resorts and it was just tedious.
- While we still think the all-inclusive plan was worth the spend, the food overall was just meh. It was worth it for the convenience and the drinks but only our dinner at Mestizo stands out to us. Better food would put this place over the top!

This was a fabulous resort. We went with another couple and we all enjoyed ourselves. The 2 bdrm unit was perfect for 4 adults. The service from the front desk concierge, Humberto Millan, was always professional and attentive to all of our needs. The maid service was so appreciated. The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels and beds made.
We spent a lot of time at the roof top pool. The pool is beautiful, newly refinished with pebble tech. The length was about 40 yards, good enough for laps. We hit the pool and the gym by 9am daily. The gym is fantastic. It's large with a good selection of exercise equipment. The mornings when we went were not crowded. Bottled water is available for free.
The music at the roof top, for us older folks, was loud and repetitive (techno beat pounding in our heads) we ended up moving to the far corner of the roof top where speakers weren't directly above us.
We did use the spa; couples massage 50 minutes. It was great.
The cart drivers were great to take us wherever you needed to get to on the property, even up to the chapel.
We did not do the all inclusive but I think next time we go, we will definitely do that. It might seem a lot per day per person but if you look at the prices of the restaurants at the resort and sister resorts, it becomes a good deal. And who wants to go to Costco to pick up food and cook?
We plan to return for sure.

Beautiful property with friendliest staff. We spent a week at staying at Vista and enjoying the entire property including Hacienda (all phases). We stayed in a 2bed unit in Vista. Our unit faced north to the Sea of Cortez, and although the view isn’t as lovely as viewing El Arco, it’s still lovely. Our unit was beautiful inside and on the large patio with soaker tub. They did place us on the 1st level so we felt we were in the basement, and we did experience some nasty smells like sewer on a daily basis. The electrical was also strange at times with losing power regularly but it would always come back on quickly.
We absolutely loved the staff everywhere and want to recognize some special ones. At the lobby in Vista - the concierges Paul and Elder. Paul is also so talented playing and singing many evenings. Elder kept in touch and helped us with reservations and daily activities. Trinidad was always there with a small and to help shuttle us around. Maribel kept our room clean and tidy, José also working nights was there in his cart to take us where we needed to be late at night and make sure we got to our building.
Ariel was always entertaining us from karaoke to exercises and other fun activities. He also has an amazing voice too.
We spent many days at the beach pool at phase 1 HE and we had the best service every day being spilled with great food and drinks. Big thanks to Gustavo, Aristeo, and the lovely Ingrid. All super friendly and hardworking staff there. There are so many staff everywhere on the property that I sadly didn’t get their names but just want to say that everywhere we went on the property, we had the best service. We have visited this property several times in the past (regularly since 2017) and I have to say that the food on this trip was very good. Riscos for supper was especially good. One issue we ran into was not being allowed into Mestizo for supper since we didn’t have the appropriate footwear. My husband and I were dressed very nicely but they didn’t like our open toe footwear and we were not allowed into Mestizo. Very disappointed in that. Our footwear was nice and clean and expensive but men can’t wear open toe footwear in. Overall though there are many other food options on site. Some casual and a few a little more high end.

Dear Conniek, Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It’s wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed the beautiful property, friendly staff, and the variety of dining and activity options across Vista and Hacienda Encantada. Your shout-outs to the incredible team mean so much—Paul and Elder at the lobby, Trinidad, Maribel, José, and Ariel all work tirelessly to make guests feel welcome, and it’s great to hear they made such a positive impact on your stay. Paul’s serenades and Ariel’s energy truly add a special touch, and it sounds like you were in great hands with Gustavo, Aristeo, and Ingrid at the beach pool as well. It’s disappointing to hear about the challenges with your room placement and the lingering smells—that’s definitely not the experience we want for any guest. I’m glad you were still able to enjoy the beautiful unit, especially the large patio with the soaker tub. Your feedback about the electrical issues is also helpful, and I hope these were resolved quickly during your stay. I’m sorry to hear about your experience at Mestizo regarding the dress code. While the restaurant strives to maintain a certain standard, it’s understandable how that would feel disappointing when you were otherwise dressed so nicely. I appreciate your understanding and acknowledgment of the many other fantastic dining options, especially Riscos, which is always a guest favorite. Thank you for being such a loyal visitor since 2017—it’s wonderful that this trip’s food and service left a positive impression. We’re thrilled you had a great time overall and look forward to welcoming you back soon for more exceptional service and memorable moments!

For this trip We stayed at Vista Encantada. The perfect place to celebrate a wedding anniversary. Beautiful place beautiful views amazing suite. Best of all the service. Staff is always attentive and helpful.
Special thanks to Elder In front desk he was our butler😍🤗and he absolutely made our stay worry free. He is personable, kind and really truly a gem. 🫶🏽
We got the all inclusive package. In my opinion well worth it as we didn’t want to venture off the property and also don’t want to worry about cooking and cleaning for the 5 days we were going to stay, but with many options on site we didn’t feel constrained in our choices. The all inclusive came with access to the spa facilities (not treatments) I absolutely LOVED The spa 💆🏽‍♀️
All the stuff is top notch and I’m happy to say the services as well very much on par of what I would get at home (Houston TX). Special thanks to Letty in the spa who during my already exceptional time in the Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, and meditation pool treated me like royalty. She made sure I didn’t overdo my time in the steam and sauna, kept me hydrated with cucumber orange infused water, dried my bathing suit and cherry on the top: she made a cucumber mask for my eyes 😍 for me during my Sauna time. Not my first rodeo in a spa, been around several places at home and abroad The Milagro Spa and their staff are without a doubt top notch 🥇
Can’t leave the Mestizo out, 1st class restaurant 🏆, breakfast chef very attentive and easy to work with to get you what you want same with the waiters, Julio hope you’re there when we go back. He was barely 2 weeks in his job when we stayed but seemed to have it well under control.
We will definitely go back and recommend to our friends.

Quiet resort if in The Villas. The Vista has great rooms with great location except you view construction on a new development below which has noisy construction equipment Monday through Saturday from 7am-5:30 pm. This has been ongoing for some time. The staff at HE are great! Maid Paulina for The Vista room 3452 was very polite and efficient! Bell boys Trinidad and Daril are over-the-top courteous, helpful, dependable and accommodating! Butler Alejandro was extra helpful to be sure we were satisfied with our Villa! He was patient, courteous and very accommodating with any concerns or requests we had! Cesar, personal trainer at the Sky Pool, was extra friendly in making us feel welcome. He led yoga/stretching classes on the pool deck each morning M-F and was very patient, calming and made each participant feel welcome/important! Butler Montserrat has consistently been amazing as we request her when we are in The Villa every year. She checks in every day and sends help to our villa quickly if neededWhen requests are made. She is personable and extremely competent working with her team to give us the best experience possible! Only negatives are no beach access and people reserve loungers/benches so they are rarely easy to get without being a shark . There are signs that say residents are not to “save” loungers/benches but no one on staff ever does anything about it when they’ve been reserved, untouched for hours

The hillside location offers beautiful views from the units, the rooftop pool, the spa pool, and the restaurant. The units are beautifully decorated and spacious.

When staying at Vista Encantada, you have access to a number of other restaurants and pools at the adjoining Hacienda Encantada. The Vista offers an all-inclusive option that includes almost all of the restaurants at both properties. Prices for a la carte meals are expensive, possibly to encourage buying the all-inclusive. If you are planning on eating two meals or more a day and having a few drinks, the all inclusive may be worth it (depending on the price they offer at the time). There are a variety of food options and our meals were quite good.

There are a lot of options and activities at the two resorts. The Vista Encantada is one building and is easy to navigate. The next door Hacienda Encantada is spread out over the hillside. Carts take you around the Hacienda Encantada property. They also provide several shuttles a day to take you back and forth from the marina.

The staff at the Vista Encantada are wonderful. A special thank you to Angel at the rooftop pool, who was attentive and remembered all of our preferences. Clemente helped us get checked in and took care of our requests. I had a wonderful massage from Olivia at the Milagro Spa. Herminia made sure our unit was clean and welcoming.

We would definitely like to return!

My name is Jennifer. We went to this property to celebrate my Best Friends 40th celebration. I called several times before we arrived so they could do something special for my Best Friend. I was promised the world when I called and checked in. The whole visit 5 days No one did anything special for my friend as I requested for our room. One night I saw them going to the room next door to bring them chocolates for their birthday. We never got any chocolates, champagne or balloons/banner. We never met our Butler that was accompanied with the room. Know let’s get to the real issue at hand we stayed in room 5454. We got to the room and was beautiful, one hour into the stay ROACHES 🪳 came out of everywhere. Roaches were in the bed, covers, the coach, the shower, the kitchen sink. The roaches were crawling from under the closet floor in the room. I had opened my suitcase While we were at dinner and roaches got into them. I had to throw away hundreds of dollars away in products and my suitcases. I had to was all my clothes and sanitize all my personal products. Once we moved rooms by the way no came to help us with our bags on the move. I had to leave all my belongings on the patio so the remaining roaches would come out of my suitcase. I had to shake every piece of clothing and there was so many roaches in my clothes and bags. I had to wash and dry all my clothes while on vacation. When I asked for detergent I was told I need to go to the market and purchase it. The manager Elder was so rude and told me in front of several guests he would not care if he had roaches in his room or in his luggage. Elder also told in front of other guests that he didn’t believe I was going to throw away my luggage when I got home. We asked for the night we had roaches to be compensated for and we were told No. The only compensation was a ride home to the airport. I had to demand the manager to come to our room and talk to us about the roach situation. No manager ever apologized and seemed as if they could care less. Also the storage room behind the front desk is full of roaches. We saw so many roaches when one of the workers went to grab some items for us. We didn’t take the items because we saw so many roaches. Another guest I was talking with at the property which was staying at their sister property Hiachenda said she also had roaches in her room and was waiting for a response on what the manager was going to do. I would definitely like to be contacted by management at Jenniferdunbar38@yahoo.com or by phone 314-651-2170

The outdoor experience at this property is fantastic. I think that the infinity pool, which is multilevel at the adult pool maybe the prettiest swimming pool I’ve ever seen as it overlooks the rocky shoreline toward Cabo San Lucas

Inside the hotel is a different story. The food is average at best and is expensive. Our hotel room featured pictures of Jesus over our bed. Also, they have tacky artificial flowers and cheap flower pots glued to the dining room table, end tables, bedside tables, and bathroom vanity. That takes up usable space that would have made setting down our property easier

As if that wasn’t bad enough, the TV cabinet in the master bedroom is glued to a corner and the 6 inch wide for poster bed blocks the view to the TV. both of us laying on one side of the bed solves the problem, but I guess that’s not the point.

Although I haven’t read any reviews of this property, I suspect the owner knows exactly what he’s doing and doesn’t care what well traveled people like us think. I suspect that his attitude is that it’s his property and he’ll do whatever he wants.

Another high note, however, was our butler,Elder, who was always there for us and took care of our every need.

We LOVE this resort! We bought a two bedroom timeshare four weeks per year and can’t get enough of it. The views and pools are exceptional. Alejandro was our designated private concierge (butler I think they call it, but truly an on call concierge) and was phenomenal again! You can just say no to timeshare tours as I know all Mexico resorts push these and still enjoy the amazing experience. We live the shuttles too and from Marina Fiesta too as we always have young 18-22 year olds with us ready to whip it up! Ha!

Based on the prices during our recent stay, the $80 would be for two people, not per person. We called the representative who sent us emails prior to our arrival (there are several emails from several entities, this was from customer service and was specifically about all-inclusive) and discussed the all-inclusive options. He mentioned an all-inclusive option that did not include alcohol, but we did not end up taking that one so I don't have the details. I don't think we saw anyone on that plan while we were there, but you could inquire about all-inclusive with no alcohol.

There are two AI options for seniors if purchased before you arrive - one is for food only; the other is for food plus non alcoholic beverages. Contact the resort for details

If I remember correctly, I was able to lean my arms on the infinity edge and look over. There is a splash area beneath and then a steep drop off. But it did not seem unsafe to me. Certainly not safe for a kid to be climbing on that edge but not an issue for just swimming in the pool. But there is not a glass wall or any fence.
