The Bungalows is a terrific bed & breakfast we discovered 12 years ago & were very happy to stay at again recently! It’s just up the hill away from the touristy part of Cabo. The hostess, Aletse, is very friendly & will make sure you have everything you need for a wonderful stay. The Bungalows offers about 30 rooms (& they vary by size & patio options). We stayed in a 1 bedroom with a patio & it was perfect. The room also had a small kitchenette (mini-fridge, microwave, hot water kettle) & The Bungalows provided a gallon of water (along with soap, shampoo, & conditioner) & pool towels whenever you need them. In addition, a delicious breakfast is included in the incredible price. We paid $430 for 5 nights in April (still considered high season). My favorite part of The Bungalows is how you are made to feel at home! Aletse is also super knowledgeable regarding restaurant recommendations. The location IS up a small hill from town, but it was very easy to get around on foot or using Uber. My only suggestion would be to bring eye shades & ear plugs as the place is pretty well-lit at night & the birds (woodpeckers, sparrows, finches, neighbor’s roosters) start their day early, lol)!

This place truly is a hidden gem and Aletse will treat you as if you are her own family! I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the place more. It is close enough to walk to plenty of restaurants and we walked to the Marina two days early in the morning for some adventures. The walk was between 15-20 minutes and it is hilly so be prepared for that but it was not a difficult walk to get anywhere we wanted. There is an Oxxo convenience store one block away for any snacks, drinks etc that you might want as well. We would HIGHLY recommend staying here, it is quiet, each room had an individual AC unit for white noise and comfort and the place was immaculately clean and cared for. The breakfast was delicious but we didn't read carefully on the website so just note that they serve one of those items each day, it is not a menu you can order off of. It was delicious though and we had no complaints! If you are going to Cabo, stay here!

This is a beautiful oasis in the midst of busy Cabo. From the moment you enter the elegant gate, you are home. Ali greets you with a hug and fresh cold watermelon juice. The spotless suites are decorated in a warm old Spanish hacienda style with attention to detail, like fresh plants and flowers, quality linens and lovely kitchen amenities. The gardens and pool area are perfectly manicured, making the whole resort relaxing and serene. And we can’t even put into words how amazing the breakfast was each morning! Each day’s gourmet menu was different, delicious and artistically presented. We will definitely recommend Ali’s place to everyone staying in beautiful Cabo.

Since we traveled with my mother in law and two kids (ages 10 and 13) we decided to book two separate rooms at this boutique hotel. We stayed a full week and could have stayed much longer if earning a living wasn't a thing. Everyone in our party was absolutely thrilled to have stayed at this fantastic accommodation. For my wife and I this was our 3rd trip to Cabo. We've done the big resorts on the water and the AI resort as well. This trip was by far our best time. Since the hotel is small and everyone gathers for a DELICIOUS breakfast every morning we couldn't help but engaged in conversation with other guests from all over the world. You don't really get that at the bigger resorts.
From the outside you wouldn't guess that there was a beautiful oasis that awaits you as you enter the front gate. From the moment we walked in we felt at home and very welcomed. The staff is local and offered great advice for any activities we were interested in. Aly (spelt Ale) even gave us her WhatsApp and told us to contact her at anytime for whatever we needed.
The daily breakfast was outstanding. Even my picky kids couldn't wait to see what the next day's offering was going to be. From sweet pancakes and waffles to savory frittata, each meal was soooo delicious.
The rooms were relaxing and sufficient. You don't get the big luxurious suites as you may in the bigger resorts but what you do get is well appointed and comfy. Each room had a kitchenette, but all we used was the provided refrigerator to keep our spare beer and water cold. Each room also had a docking station for all you IT charging needs.
When not out on an adventure, we spent much of our downtime sitting by the pool in either a swinging egg chair or chair hammocks. The pool was kept clean and neat at all times which must have been a challenge since there are so many trees and flowering plants all around. Speaking of trees, this place felt like it had its own weather. Walking around in the HOT Cabo sun had us looking for shade. Upon returning to the hotel even in mid day it felt much cooler inside.
We rented a car but you can easily walk from the hotel to the hot spots downtown or at the marina.
All of us were very sad to leave. My young daughters loved the place so much they took it upon themselves to write the hotel staff departing letters promising to come back soon. As the planner of the family I am thrilled that everyone had an awesome time.

A treasure! The Bungalow hotel is like being in a Mexican village within a big city. The grounds and pool are a tropical oasis of lush vegetation with beautiful birds and charming lighting. The rooms are delightfully decorated in classic Mexican tiles, gorgeous hammocks and a thatched roof. You get great value here ;The breakfasts are mind blowing and would be $30 elsewhere. Perfect location just far enough away from Cabo crazy but close enough to walk to it. The cherry on top is Ale the manager and the staff- They genuinely care about their hotel and their guests and go above and beyond to help. One note, Cabo is a noisy town and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying. I'm a light sleeper and we had great sleeps, if there is an occasional party - turn on the fan, AC, or bring your own white noise machine. These parties are rare and It is not enough to worry about and certainly should not deter you from staying. I am crying leaving this morning! Thank you Bungalows! (we stayed in patio suite 1B )

This is the ideal place to stay if you want to be removed from the noise and traffic of Cabo town. It is peaceful, beautifully laid out, with only the sound of birdsong and the occasional waft of music coming up from one of the local restaurants. I had a patio bungalow and spent many hours swinging in my hammock reading a book after a days scuba diving and after a dip in the pool to wash off the salt of the day. The only thing to know is that it is at the top of a significant hill which can take around 15 mins to hike up after a few drinks in town. I hired a moped to get around that but you can also hire e-bikes and e-scooters (but watch out for a uncrackable mysteries of Cabo's unsigned one way systems!!! ) Breakfast each day was just as good as previous reviews had said. Always served to thebackground of the birds singing and bourginvillia framing every view and angle. A very special oasis.

Response from The Bungalows Team, Innkeeper at The Bungalows Hotel
Responded 31 Jul 2023
We are so happy you found the hotel to be a peaceful oasis and are delighted to know that you love the daily birdsong as much as we do! Reading in your hammock after a day of diving sounds like a perfect retreat. We agree, the uphill walk back to The Bungalows can seem long in the warm summer months! In reality, the hill is just about a 5 minute walk (400 meters). Fortunately our guests can choose a more gradual route back to the hotel which avoids the hill and passes through a local neighborhood of fantastic restaurants, fruit and empanada carts, and a fun little ice cream shop "ROOT'S" (think fresh fruit sorbets, crepes, and fresh-made churros!). All within just a 3-7 minute walk from The Bungalows, and all which would be missed when taking the slightly shorter hill route. To walk into town, we do like to recommend taking the (down)hill route. This is a pleasant 5-7 minute walk arriving immediately to the cultural Amelia Wilkes Plaza. This houses the Museum of Natural History (Museo Cabo San Lucas) and hosts the vibrant "Viva La Plaza!" Art Walk on Friday evenings showcasing local culture, arts and dance. The plaza is lined with popular restaurants, cafes, and Artezan markets which continue until you reach the marina just a few more blocks through town. Walking downhill into town then taking the leisurely "local" route back to the hotel gives our guests a chance to explore more of Cabo. On days where walking just isn't an option (ie post Happy Hour on the beach), Uber is a great way to go and costs just $50-90 pesos ($3-5USD) to or from the downtown/marina area. We hope this has been helpful! The Bungalows Family Reserve directly at thebungalowshotel for the absolute lowest rates. We are happy to price match or beat ALL booking site rates. Please ask.

Our expectations were beyond exceeded. The grounds, pool, etc. were beautiful, breakfast was amazing, and the staff was wonderful, especially Aletse. We were deciding between the Bungalows and an all inclusive and are SO happy with our choice. We will be back again.
Some things to note - the location is walking distance to downtown cabo/Marina; however, Uber is easily accessible if you chose not to walk. You will need a car service from the airport to the hotel but can schedule an Uber for your return to airport. Try the local restaurants nearby at Aletse’s recommendation. Don’t miss breakfast

Well I'm sat at Cabo airport having just spent two weeks at The Bungalow Hotel. An absolutely fabulous place. Ali the manager is a treasure. The rooms have everything you need but if you do need anything extra just ask the staff. As stated in other reviews breakfasts are wonderful. We are booking again for next year.

It is a rarity to travel back to somewhere we've gone before, but my family of three all had such fond memories of The Bungalows, the warmth of the owner and the delicious morning coffee (hot chocolate) and watermelon juice, that we came back. Although the hotel is now run by the sister of the original owner, The Bungalows did not disappoint.
The Bungalows is separated from the rest of the world with a big wooden arched door. It is inconspicuous in a hilly neighborhood far away from the tourist strip of Cabo. Once inside, you are literally in paradise, with birds chirping, shade, hammocks, other small artsy details, pink flowers bursting with color, and a breakfast to die for! Just like our first trip, Aly greeted us with hugs and excitement as if we were truly a guest of her home.
Some other notable things: Aly set me up with a massage therapist that was amazingly good. She came to the room and I went to sleep right afterwards. Ahhhh! Make sure you go to the ice cream shop ROOTS which is right near by. We also borrowed snorkeling equipment for the day.
The Bungalows is low key. It does not have a hot tub and the pool, though heated, is cold at first. I don't think it would be for everyone because it is not on the beach, but we LOVE the fact that it's in a neighborhood and away from the loud music and partying. My only constructive feedback is to have a drying rack somewhere because all my clothes were getting wet from swimming and they weren't really getting dry because it's shady.
We did a bunch of fun stuff in Cabo but by far, my favorite thing, was chilling in the shade by the pool. Wonderful place!

The hotel is charming, quiet, clean and well cared for. The manager and staff could not have been more accommodating, friendly and helpful. We felt very comfortable and safe there. The breakfasts were delicious and we met several other guests at breakfast who were also happy to be there. Our room was large and the bed was comfortable. The room included a safe and small refrigerator. Enjoyed spending the afternoon laying by and swimming in the pool.
We felt very lucky to have stayed there. I highly recommend the Bungalows.

For an idea of their daily breakfasts, go to the ”Menu” page on their website (TripAdvisor does not allow me to include their website); this page specifically states that they “will happily accommodate specific dietary preferences.” Make certain that the cook understands your daughter’s allergies. She does not speak English, so if you are uncertain about your ability clearly state your concerns, talk to the owner, his sister, or the innkeeper when you arrive, and then reiterate the dietary restrictions each morning. It will help if you determine which menu items she can eat, and what substitutions/eliminations the cook will need to make. You might want to email them in advance just to give them a “heads up.” Everyone at The Bungalows is amazing, and they will undoubtedly bend over backwards to make certain that your daughter is taken care of.

Definitely still in business!! I have experienced slow return of email messages—as in usually within two days but am surprised the phone is not answered. It’s a great place. Stayed three times and We already booked for next year.
We rent a car due the distance between the airport and the hotel. It was the right choice for us Because it was possible to visit a lot of places like La Paz (playa Balandra), Todos Santos, and some nice beaches like El Chileno. With a car we could put umbrellas and chairs in the trunk ( Eric lent them to us).
It is possible to get shuttles as well, but this can limit your trips.
Be aware lots of rental companies show fake rates, like 1usd per day. Search for honest rental companies.
There are more places to choose from in the Cabo San Lucas area.
