My family visits Cabo every year on 4th of July. This year my brother in law and his wife which happens to be my best friend joined me, my husband and my 10 year old daughter. This happened to be my third visit to Montage and each time it gets better and better. The 4th of July event is a great way to celebrate the Holiday (second time celebrating at Montage). The food is amazing at this event with a great variety to please anyone’s palette with exquisitely crafted dishes from the appetizers to the deserts. I could go one for days at how delicious everything was and how beautifully everything was presented. The Montage has the most beautiful beach front pools one for adults and one families can enjoy. The pool bar is also beach front and has the most talented bartenders who make the most amazing drinks especially Josefat who works in the afternoons there. He is a very talented mixologist who offers the best recommendations for delicious drinks. I hope the Montage knows they have great talent in Josefat at the Marea bar. The staff at the pool areas and on the beach were first class all the way. They made us feel special and we did not want for anything while there. It was amazing how they remembered our names. Marco one of the waiters at the pool was always smiling and always there when we needed anything. He was a class act and made our pool days unforgettable. I’ve been to other top resorts in Cabo but I have to say that Montage has the best pools and service at the pools in all of Cabo. It also has the best swimmable beach in the Santa Maria Bay. Mylena and Ulysses were the greatest as concierges. They checked up on us constantly and made sure we were taken care of. Our room was always cleaned in the most detailed manner as if through magic because we never saw housekeeping. I’d also like to mention the car service the Montage uses is very professional and upscale. We had the same driver Pablo every night we went out to dinner he was very friendly and sweet. He would drive us there and wait for us and then drive us back for a very reasonable price. We felt very safe to explore especially in San Jose which I highly recommend for its shopping options and old town charm. We went to the spa which was very relaxing. I only wish they had poolside massages which would have been nice maybe 30 minute ones just to get a quick relaxation poolside. I could go on forever about how great Montage is and how much I loved it here.

Stayed 3 nights with my 13 year old son.
Pros: incredible service
Butler will respond to text often and will take care of everything. Like a personal assistant. Much more valuable than the st Regis butler service. They’ll even find you around the hotel and ask to help!!

We are big Montage fans, and adore their other hotels so were excited to try this one.
Pros: The property is nice and close to the beach. The personal butler Odette was fantastic and you could tell she really cared.
Cons: Their ‘Suite’ is not actually a suite- its a bedroom and a living room with a long sliding barn door between- clearly not designed by parents who are trying to pay a premium for a suite/separate bedroom to have an actual door that closes for any alone time. Also there was loud construction next door but they can’t help that. The pool and lounge chair set up could use some work (only one pool has a nice view and it’s adults only, and only one row of chairs has a nice view - also adults only), but that is for another time. (I understand they don’t want romper room there but why my mature teen and I couldn’t sit there seems crazy).
The terrible: They also don’t have a normal door on the master bathroom- it’s one of those pocket style doors. That also didn’t lock, and we requested if they could fix that- since it seemed like it was a simple latch that could be fixed. Later I was with my daughter who was taking a bath, and my husband came in and decided to try the ‘fixed lock’. One touch and it completely locked us all in the bathroom for over an hour!! No windows or doors or any way to escape!! We would probably still be there but luckily my other daughter came back from the pool and was able to hear us yelling and call for help. Even the repair men took another 30min crowbar-ing the latch open!! It was so incredibly traumatizing!! I think they gave us a dumb bottle of wine? I’m still shaken even thinking about it, it was crazy being stuck and having no way to get out! So no, I can not recommend this property. (Go to Kapalua it’s fantastic!) And if you do go, do not lock the bathroom. Or at least always carry your phone with you!

We stayed for 4 nights and loved it. First, the expansive and well designed pool area is perfect for both lounging and swimming. The pool service for drinks and food is very attentive. And this hotel is on a swimmable beach so we enjoyed swimming in the ocean and paddle boarding. Our room was expansive, clean and modern yet cozy with beautiful design. It was nice to have a personal butler who we could text anytime we needed anything and he was always very responsive, And the staff all over the property were all very friendly and attentive and always smiled. The spa area is large , bright and well appointed. I had amazing massages.
This property is only 6 yrs old so everything is fairly new and well kept. Beautiful grounds and plantings too. Will definitely come back!

The good: The most beautiful and kid friendly beach with snorkeling, paddle boarding and kayaking which is rare to find in Cabo given the strong tides. Rooms are beautiful and well designed.
We were here for Easter and loved that they made it so special for the kids with a petting zoo, craft station and lots of fun decorations and an easter egg hunt! While our kids didn't attend the kids club, it looked wonderful.
The mediocre:
For the price (we were paying around $1700/night), I did expect more from a service perspective and was hoping service would be more like the Four Seasons where they anticipate your needs. For example, we called ahead to request an early check-in but didn't want to arrive and have to wait so we were told our room would be ready by 11:00. We arrived at 11:30 and were told the room wasn't ready. On top of that, our AC in our room was broken the first day and we had to have maintenance in our room for an hour at 9pm which wasn't ideal. My family and I booked 3 of the same rooms and my sister had an incredible pool view whereas our other two rooms at the same price were facing construction. We didn't spend too much time in the room so this wasn't a deal breaker for me but just confusing
My only other complaint would be the food quality, food options and high prices. We weren't too impressed with Mezcal and Marea food quality with so-so tasting dishes at very high prices. We are used to paying a lot at these types of resorts but also expect a delicious meal and great drinks (we were just at Nobu where the food was excellent at every restaurants, morning or night). However, we loved Talay, the Thai food restaurant. Food, service and ambiance were excellent (great DJ helping to create a fun vibe).

Cabo is one of our favorite destination but there are very few places where you can actually go out into the water. Montage offers that advantage with a swimmable beach and a great location. We were there for spring break and the hotel was pretty full but we never felt like it was overwhelming. The staff is great and the restaurants offer a good range including breakfast, poolside lunches and Thai dinner.
The kids club does require signing up for full day and half day which are charged separately. This was a bit of inconvenience as we were looking for some options for just a few hours. Beach desk is amazing and they have all the equipment needed for snorkeling and enjoying the sea.
Overall it was a wonderful stay and will certainly be on top of our list on our next visit to Cabo.

We just returned from Montage Los Cabos after what can only be called a memorable trip marked by a visit from Hurricane Norma. Sometimes we learn the most about companies, brands, and people when times are the hardest. The entire staff sprung into action making us comfortable and safe. The level of communication and coordination was flawless. Even in "shelter", we had snacks, attentive service, delicious "picnic" lunches, and friendly smiles and greetings from all staff (who were also away from their homes and loved ones). I'm hoping we can return to Montage Los Cabos when we can actually enjoy all of its amazing amenities (most of which Norma made impossible), because if this is what it's likes to stay here at a time of crisis, I can only imagine what a paradise it is on the other 300 days of the year when the sun is shining. You have earned a customer for life. And I'd like to give an extra shout-out to Armando, who provided us the most amazing service. Hoping we can work through some reimbursement for a make-do, so we can experience Montage Los Cabos in full glory.

This place really is a majestic getaway. Far away from the hustle and bustle of Cabo, on a private beach with two amazing pools, what more could you ask for? Well, maybe a decent breakfast. Never have I stayed at such a nice place where they didn't have about 1000 different breakfast options in a buffet. But here, to my dismay, on the first morning, breakfast was as basic as you could imagine. About 7 choices each for about 30usd and espresso for about 8usd. Oh and a double espresso, yep - 16usd. I don't mind paying for a place like this, and whatever they're charging its fine. But surely thats gotta include breakfast. I think its a bit of an American thing to not include a big buffet breakfast at luxury hotels, but honestly - this is the only holiday venue I've been to in this price range where they had such a basic a la carte breakfast option. Every morning I had to be reminded how disappointing this was. I hate to dwell on the only negative, but unfortunately I had to be reminded myself every morning.
The spa was amazing. Men and women are separate so if you're on a couples holiday this may be slightly inconvenient, but the jacuzzi and steam room, together with reading room and shaving station (in the mens), and apparently make up station in the womens, were very impressive. Gym was good too. All around really nice and professional staff. Can't fault anything except the disgraceful breakfast. Still happy to give the place 5 stars because literally everything except the breakfast was good.
I'd recomment booking all activities outside of the hotel, for example the yacht we booked was about 80% cheaper NOT booking through the hotel, and exactly the same. Jet skiing about 60% cheaper too.
Will come back - please fix this breakfast situation though.

we recently spent five nights in the Montage Cabo San Lucas. We booked through AmEx Platinum. This was our first experience with this hotel brand as well as Cabo. This was all about 5 nites of r&r. The resort is boutique and the facilities are very nice for being in the desert. The service is pleasant and responsive.
The room which they gave us an upgrade was nice with an ocean view.
Now here are the downsides. The bed was uncomfortable hard as a rock.
The food was a mitigated disaster. Each meal was worse than the next the quality and quantity were a disaster and this was supposed to be a 5 star resort. we had breakfast in Mezcal and lunch in Marea. on our AmEx booking we were to receive free breakfast for 2 but upon arrival we had to acqknowledge a paper confirming only limit up to $70 each day for breakfast, which we are now disputing. (being a captive audience what can you do) The costs for food and beverage were more than double for anything. Breakfast boiled down to a couple of eggs and some toast with coffee and a crescent and bottled water with an upcharge, and a small bowl of fruit, which got less and less each day. The lunch items which we tried a different item each day got progressively worse and more expensive approx. $139.00 a day for sub par food not deserving of a howard johnsons. How much guacamole can you have day in and day out. Even the coffee was bad. The beach which we had read previous reviews said swimmable. What was failed to mention was no sand, made up of gravel and pebbles. Tough luck if you want to walk without boots. The spa, while being very nice, the massage was ok but double the cost of a simple one.
So to wrap up, we would not come back to this place. for the price we paid we feel it was a waste of money. we had much greater expectations
but it was a let down.
