About

#5 of 124 hotels in San Miguel de Allende
Travellers' Choice
A heritage hotel in the Mexican heartlands, Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada evokes the charm of a bygone era. San Miguel is an adventure for the senses. Yet at the very center of this vibrant city lies a safe haven that’s at once connected to the locale and is its own private sanctuary. Swing open our ancient, wooden front doors and the fiesta outside gives way to a siesta-like calm. Water fountains and blooming flowerpots dot the cluster of heritage mansions that make up the hotel. A large pool, fringed with lush foliage and plants, provides the perfect place to cool off. 17th- and 18th-century buildings reveal inner courtyards, terraces and gardens. Here, history is woven into every stucco wall, tiled bath and curved ceiling, all balanced with modern luxuries.

Incredible service here top-notch, and not only was the service was so perfect, but it was also a challenge for me to leave such an excellent review. Where do I start? I am so thankful for Mario Alvarez Ponce from the concierge, who went above and beyond in helping us months in advance in planning and booking our itinerary in San Miguel De Allende; without Mario’s help, I think the trip wouldn’t have been the same; so Thank you indeed! Another big thank you was to Enrique Sanchez, who made us feel welcomed and at home away from home. Staying here felt as if I was part of the Belmond family. I felt extremely comfortable here. I never experienced anything like this before with any hotel in the past. I honestly can't wait to come back as I didn't want to leave this magnificent place. Another memorable experience was at breakfast the lovely waiters and servers who were always so cheerful, kind, and helpful. Thank you to Samuel, Golden others who I might have forgotten their names. God bless them all. If you stay here, Expect the unexpected here in a very good way! Thank you to everyone at Casa De Sierra Nevada. I am teary as I write this review missing you all; how I wish I could go back now. Please take care and keep up the excellent service! Lots of love!

The Belmond Casa Sierra Nevada was an amazing oasis in the heart of San Miguel de Allende. The staff was amazing, the hotel was beautiful and the food delicious. We even indulged in massages at Laja Spa, which left us relaxed and pampered. Due to the heavy rains during our stay, our room took on some water, but Enrique was quick to assess the situation, and we were immediate moved to a new and upgraded room. The stay at the Belmond was truly special!

Dear danieisaacs, Thank you very much for visiting the Hearth of Mexico and our property. We are very sorry for the inconvenience about the rain, certainly it did rain more than usual. We are very pleased that you enjoy Laja Spa and that Enrique provided a prompt assistance with the room move. We all hope to see you back for another Belmond experience. I am sure we will do our very best to surpass the previous experience. Again, thank you very much for all your support. Sincerely, Eric Gonzalez General Manager

I really like the small, intimate feel of this 37-room hotel. It is housed within three former mansions, one with a beautiful pool and all with gorgeous fountains and landscaping throughout. It looks old, like you are stepping back in time; but the rooms are very-well renovated and appointed – not modern, but certainly more contemporary than the facades of the buildings would suggest – and thoroughly comfortable. Our daughter stayed in a superior room; we stayed in a junior suite and we loved them both. The main restaurant, bar and spa are in another beautiful, mostly open-air mansion separated from the other two across a narrow, sometimes busy street. I found this a bit odd, but in keeping with the charm of the city. The service level at the hotel is as good as it gets, and I give high marks to the food & beverage and spa as well. Also, the transportation that they arranged to and from Leon was very comfortable and dependable. I only gave the hotel four stars on value because of the high tax rates that get levied by the various Mexican governments on top of the room rates (about 30%, I think), but this is the case anywhere in Mexico. I did find their food & beverage and spa prices to be a bargain. We will definitely be back.

This was the trip of a lifetime with my mom and sister, and we could not be happier that we chose the Sierra Nevada hotel. Everything about this hotel was wonderful. The service was absolutely spectacular. We felt like we were staying with family. The food was unreal. We woke up every morning excited to go to breakfast and relax in the hotel's beautiful lobby. I am 7 months pregnant, and the hotel took special care to make sure I had a body pillow to sleep with. On the way to San Miguel American Airlines lost my bag, and the hotel was so helpful with making sure I got them back in a timely manner. We loved every excursion we did with the hotel as well. Luis was an especially amazing tour guide, as well as cooking classes with Ruben. We will be thinking and talking about this trip for many years to come, and can't wait to go back!

The Belmond Casa Sierra falls slightly short compared to other Belmond properties around the world in small details such as; lack of rain-showers installed in the room, TV quality/size, pool area atmosphere and furniture selection/condition. However, compared to other similar hotels, its proximity to the main touristic attractions, restaurants and bars make it a premiere choice.
