We stayed for 6 nights. Concierge always very helpful.( Special thanks to Jorge and Edith)
Beach cabanas sooo comfortable and great service from the beach staff. Food served at the beach , delicious and beautifully arranged. The beach in front of the hotel is beautiful and clean, and it’s easy to enter the sea, sandy ( no rocks or corals) and shallow.

Breakfast included partly, it’s a la carte and depending on your order, some items will be paid for separately.

Our room was big and comfortable, a little humid, as we didn’t use the air conditioning because it would blow right on us in the beds....
Bathroom nice and big , and shower with warm water. Wi-Fi working well.
Our room had 2 queen beds and no hot tub...Next time , we will expressly ask for 1 king size bed and a tub.

The location is great, close to shops and restaurants. Bikes at disposal. A small gym with everything you need to keep yourself fit.

Im so glad I discovered this place on my hunt for a Tulum hotel. My requirements were lux, clean, on the beach and not TOO pricey. This place met all my needs and exceeded my expectations. friendly and attentive staff from the moment you step foot on the property. The location is centric and you can walk or grab one of their bikes for lunch/dinner to avoid the crazy traffic and overpriced taxis. food/drinks were 8/10 - the rooms were clean and smelled great. The personal pool automatically heats around 7pm which is great if you want to enjoy a warm evening dip. Most importantly, I felt safe the entire duration of my trip. Will definitely be back.

My husband and I had the most wonderful, 6 night stay at the Hotel Ma'xanab over Thanksgiving week. From the warm, friendly welcome we received on our arrival, to the daily suggestions of restaurants/tours/activities and genuine inquiries about our overall well being, this hotel excels at the most impeccable customer service! The design of this small, luxurious, boutique style hotel is exquisite and the decor and attention to detail are very tastefully done. Our room, an oceanfront suite on the ground floor (Room #1), was absolutely fantastic! It was very spacious with the most incredible private patio with our own private pool and jaw dropping views of the gorgeous beach and ocean. We would pinch ourselves each morning, to make sure we were not dreaming, as we opened our curtains and realized that we were indeed, in Paradise!

The waitstaff at the restaurant, beach and pool were so professional and friendly and offered such excellent service to us during our stay. The breakfasts each morning on the restaurant patio, were delicious. We particularly loved the avocado toast topped with a fried egg and the granola topped with yoghurt and fresh fruit. Whilst lounging on the beautiful beach in our very comfortable beach cabana, we received great attention from the waitstaff who always made sure we had what we needed, be it bottles of water, margaritas or the most scrumptious shrimp tacos and guacamole! The dinner we ate at the hotel on the evening of our arrival was also of a very high standard; fresh ceviche, tasty grilled prawns and perfectly cooked steak. We highly recommend the food at this hotel.

Overall our stay was truly memorable, made even better by the remarkable hotel staff. We want to particularly thank Edith, Fabiola and Julian who serve as the most outstanding concierges, front desk receptionists and managers. We also want to give a shout out to Hermalindo and Carlos, who are such superb servers! For all of the others who make up the marvelous team at the hotel, and whose names we forget now (our apologies), a huge GRACIAS!!!

We cannot wait to return this magnificent hotel in the very near future!!!

I arrive at Maxanab hotel at the 5 of December 2020 and pay infront to stay for 12 days at their beach front suit room, super excited to enjoy my first time in mexico and tulum with my girlfriend ,
For 4 day in the beach front Suit they didnt have hot water in the shower and we where sleeping with lots of bugs and bug bites every night .
We mention our problem to the front desk and 1st they didn’t Believe us and also come to our room to check if we where Liars , the bugs in the room where a lot and this is bc of the rooms have no roof and also not a net above the beds , they offer us a new room and 10% discount to change room .

We decide to move to the new room bc we didn’t want to continue this nightmare and also relax in our holidays but there was more .

The new room was on their garden view and close to the main road , the noise all day from construction and the restaurnats Purlor across the street don’t let you rest at all day or night .

The breakfast was included and it was a joke for the money we pay for bc they will charge you extra for a cup of coffee or a shot of espresso when you pay 500+++$ a nights -
terrible management and staff on the front desk with uneducated people on the tourist industry .

The room keys where failing all time and we had to go all the time to replace them .

In our 7th night someone try to enter our room at 3:45 am , we call the front desk and nobody answer , i went to the front desk to find someone to complain and see the manager & nobody was there ,
a couple and a woman where having the same issue as they told me and waiting at front desk as well , after 40-45 minutes the hotel owner appear .

Of course the next day we had to leave this terrible hotel after a meeting / discusssion with the hotel owner .

I don’t recommend this hotel bc is not what you waiting from a hotel that expensive.

We left the hotel of course and find much better hotels in the area safer - cleaner and with proper management which they respect more the money we spend.

Response from Rodrigo López, General Manager at Hotel Ma'xanab Tulum
Responded 21 Jan 2021
Kelly S. and George K. I think it is very clear you did not like the property, since you have left 3 different reviews under different names, which I find vengeful, but thats for karma to deal with, not me. You are clearly trying to demerit us. I have always and always will respect my guests opinions, so first and foremost I want to offer an apology as I did personally when we talked. I apologize that we didn't live up to your expectations and delivered the experience you wished for. As for the rest of your review, I can tell its coming from a place of anger, so its not worth our time trying to argue with plain lies, I will just advice for you to be nicer and more educated to people and staff members in general, because what you say about Fabiola (which is a lie) is exactly what you two did to the whole staff, including myself. Instead of going along with your game we just want to invite whoever is reading this review to go see the positive reviews we have and the impact we have on our guests which are and always will be our priority.

honestly such a beautiful spot. tranquil, small, intimate, super service and honestly the most amazing food. somebody else said it but the chef in London would have a Michelin star

the beach is amazing but tulum beach in general is one of its kind. the rooms are cozy, 2 minutes stroll to the beach and loved the sundeck

you can walk to other restaurants and its all very chill

close to the road as all tulum locations but not an issue really and after 11pm all the places shut anyways

we really loved the vibe of this place and how nicely its all done, very eco friendly set up

we will be back

thank you for all the kind people working there, it makes a huge difference

From start to finish, our experience at Hotel Ma'Xanab was outstanding! The resort and hotel staff completely surpassed my expectations!

Resort- We stayed in the ocean view king suite on the first floor (second level), and the room and views were absolutely breathtaking. Each room comes with a private pool and cabana, patio breakfast nook, an outdoor rain shower, a reserved beach cabana for your entire stay, and a personalized 5 star experience. You will literally feel like you are the only one at the resort (or at least the most important). They treat everyone with the utmost respect and courtesy. The resort is magnificently clean, spells phenomenal, and has the best beach views you can imagine.

Staff- The hospitality was superb! Edith and Jose were very accommodating in helping us reserve couples massages upon arrival, a private tour excursion for the next day, dinner reservations, housekeeping requests, and more. They left no stone unturned.

Food/Adventures- The resort food was absolutely amazing and the service staff were even better! Outside of the resort, we ate at Chambao, Taboo, and Bak, all outstanding. I highly recommend booking one of the Ma'Xanab private experiences during your stay as well. You can't go wrong with any of the options. We chose the Tulum, ATVs, and Underworld Cenote experience with Moses (he was also amazing).

Overall, Hotel Ma'Xanab is the #1 place to book when visiting Tulum. You won't be disappointed.

My wife and I came here for four nights to celebrate our anniversary, staying in the junior suite with Jungle view. The room was very comfortable, with a private balcony and large plunge pool for cooling off and relaxing after adventurous days. The staff was very attentive and accommodating, helping us set up three tours and arranging all the necessary transportation as we chose to not rent a car.

There are dozens of fantastic nearby restaurants, in particular Arca was delicious and romantic. Choose several small plates and sample the many offerings (we LOVED the cochinita pibil and the bone marrow).

The main road is very narrow but walkable so long as you take your time, especially once as you get further from the hotel. Lots of adorable shops along the way, so I recommend leaving the hotel on foot with plenty of extra time before your reservations so that you can browse the boutiques along the way.

The restaurant at the hotel is also very good, we only had breakfast there but it was delicious, especially the huevos rancheros. For guests of the hotel the breakfast dishes are complementary (the prices on the menu are for folks visiting from other hotels). This was a nice surprise, usually hotels only offer small continental offerings for free, and charge for the good stuff. I recommend filling up here before you head out for your day!

At night, they serve until 11pm so you can wind down with some cocktails in the evenings. If you just want to relax on the beach, each room has a designated cabana where you can order snacks and drinks in the shade right on the beach and enjoy the ocean breeze.

There is also a Go-Mart convenience store within a 10 minute walk south of the hotel, which is a handy place to get extra snacks, drinks, and other supplies. I recommend getting plenty of pesos before traveling here, as there may be long lines at the ATMs and the exchange rates are not as good. Some restaurants like Arca are cash only, and I think the taxis are cash only too. The internet connections in Tulum are flaky so it's good to have cash anyway in case your card isn't working, or for gratuities.

Highly recommended!

I cannot begin to describe the perfection of this hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted in a way that makes you feel as if you are visiting family.

First off, the hotel decor and ambience is rustic and very chic. It embodies the fact that it sits near jungle and virgin territory, and really brings that into the hotel. They have relaxing beach lounge music playing all day long near the pool and bar/restaurant area.

The food in the hotel restaurant is superb! We ate outside the hotel and always came back craving the food at the hotel. It is made with care and presented in a careful and creative manner that can be compared to any of the other 5 star restaurants nearby. Try as much as you can from the menu, you will not be disappointed. The cocktails on the menu are also delicious!!

If you’re headed to the beach, there are lounge beds reserved by room at the front of the water. You will never have to wait around for an empty seat because it’s always ready when you arrive!

We stayed in the 2nd floor ocean front room and my goodness, it is a real jewel!!! I can’t convey the majesty that this view brings. There is a private plunge pool on the deck with a lounge bed next to it, all capturing the incredible view. The room provides 3 showers, yes 3! There is a 2 person shower in the room and another shower outdoors. Again, the decor and the ambiance in the room is rustic, all while providing an upscale vibe.

The crown jewel of this hotel are the employees that work here. Roberto, Hermelindo, Carlos, and Hipolito went above and beyond in assisting us. A very special shout out to Roberto. Roberto was our main guy at the beach and was incredibly accommodating in setting up our beach bed, bringing cocktails and in conversation as well. All of the guys are incredibly friendly and really try hard to make your stay at this hotel be a memorable one.

Thank you Maxanab!! We will definitely be back!

My husband and I stayed here for 5 days for a get away and everything was GREAT! The front desk staff were so helpful and kind and the hotel is a quick walk from many of the hotspots in the hotel zone!!

The room itself was amazing!! The view was IMMACULATE and our private outdoor pool was everything. We even went for a night time swim a couple nights. Once we figured out how to put the AC on turbo mode, it got even better!!

We did pay extra for additional items for breakfast which wasn’t a bother for us because we thought the prices were reasonable. For example if you get pancakes, you have to pay extra for eggs.

As one reviewer said, the tap water at the hotel is salty. Not sure if that’s the hotel’s fault or a bigger Tulum issue. On one excursion we did, everyone said their tap water was also salty and we all stayed at different hotels. So I chose to brunch my teeth with bottled water because I couldn’t stand the salty water. This might just be a Tulum thing.

We also did not have any cleaners come to our room because I’ve heard horror stories. I also used the safe just to be sure and none of our valuables went missing.

I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would definitely stay here again if we decide to go back to Tulum.

Six of us total just got back to celebrate my birthday. We all had an amazing experience at this hotel! The front desk staff were very nice and super helpful!! They communicated through WhatsApp if you didn't want to go up front and helped with booking transportation to restaurant suggestions and reservations to excursions. I valued their honesty on some places being better than other or certain taxi drivers being more reasonable than others.

Our room was amazing as well. Everything was very well kept and every room was a little different (we had 3 total) which added to the uniqueness. I've seen reviews talk about the salty water. Yes, it was a little salty but none of us felt dirty after taking a shower. It isn't like you just came out of the ocean or anything. Our AC worked great in all of our rooms! The wifi was also good. We did allow our rooms to be cleaned and none of our belongings went missing.

The hotel also has great food! We loved the nachos and ceviche at lunch and ate breakfast here each day. Yes, some things for breakfast is an upcharge but what is included for free was more than good. Tulum is an expensive place all around and so you are in the wrong place if you want everything for free.

Lastly, the hotel was within walking distance of several restaurants and places to go. We only took a taxi one night and it was mainly so we wouldn't be hot when we got to dinner that would have been a 15 min walk. It is hot and humid in Mexico.

I would highly recommend this hotel!!!!

We charge 50% non refundable deposit 30 days prior to arrival. The other 50% is charged at check in. The only reason yo charge the 50% if you don't show up is if you don't cancel via email.

It’s on the main road, pretty much next to the main party scene but not smack in the middle. (Which is great when you’re back at the property and want to rest) the location is fantastic!! 👌🏻👌🏻
