Standing tall above the Mangrove Forest, the beachside St. Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya is a destination-defining property. Merging striking architecture and stately grounds with a design story rooted in Mayan mysticism, our resort near Cancun and Playa Del Carmen features unrivaled ocean views as part of 620-acre nature reserve along Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. The Pleiades constellation inspired the circular architecture of our resort's avant-garde exterior, which floats above the canopy of the mangrove trees below. Resort amenities include our signature St. Regis Butler Service, private terraces or plunge pools in each room or suite, eight distinctive food and beverage outlets, a spa, a beach club, and sparkling outdoor pools.

I would like to give a thumbs up to the St Regis Team for making our stay memorable. The moment we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by a bellman and our assigned butler. We arrived early but we were able to check-in. I would say the hotel is exquisite in every way. The design, the architecture to the smallest detail were meticulously executed. I love how they incorporated nature into the hotel's style everything is just beautiful. Our personal butler Omar was welcoming he is always attentive to our needs and offered us his service from restaurant reservations and so on. He always checks on us to make sure our stay will be special. I also would like to commend Uriel from the front desk he made everything goes smoothly from check-in to check-out process was flawless. One of the valet associates I forgot his name but he was tall he gave us some recommendations on what to visit in Playa del Carmen downtown because it was our first time in the area. He also recommended a good restaurant for lunch. The other valet Jose was always prompt in taking care of our luggage and retrieving our car every time we needed it. We had a buffet breakfast at Chaya and all the servers were always attentive I love their green juice so much. We also had dinner at Toro food was delicious and the ambiance is romantic. I love everything about this hotel. Our room was spacious enough and the balcony overlooking the mangrove and beach is beautiful. The furniture used was meticulously selected. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I can't wait to be back soon.

A breathtaking hotel with every detail well thought out. We cannot say enough positive things abotut Kanai and feel that it may be the most beutiful hotel we have ever stayed at... The rooms are asthetically gorgeous, the grounds are unique and the archtiecture and interiors design is truly breathtaking. We found the plunge. pools a wonderful addition and we used it every night to wathc the lightening storms that rolled in off the water. Our best meals were at Toro and next door @ Itzam and we LOVED the breakfast buffet. The staff were incredible as were our butlers and there is a great sense of pride and community at the resorts with everyone pitching in to keep it pristine and beutiful. We would recommend the resort create a business office or space for people to do some work while travelling. It was difficult to find a table and standard height chair outside of the restuarants. Protip - if you need to work while here there is "game room" just beyond the 3 cabanas at the main pool which has some seating and was quiet enough for me to work.

We had never stayed with St Regis before although we know their reputation so we were very excited to celebrate our anniversary at this new SR resort. From the moment we arrived we were met with wonderful, gracious service by Carlos who checked us in and then Ramon our bellman. The rooms are beautiful — warm wood accents with a large bathroom, walk-in shower and stand alone tub … and of course the panoramic views to the Caribbean! Our butlers Alejandra, Andrea and Rafael were perfect … attentive, friendly and kind and understood my “Spanglish” … just the right touch and made our visit even more special. We really enjoyed the Riviera pool and restaurant… Kopa, Jorge and Alberto were especially simpatico and made us feel welcomed and at home. We are vegetarian and the restaurants were very accommodating, although we wished there were more options on the menus. Our favorite dinners were at Toro where Victor served us impeccably and made sure we had delicious veg choices. The gym was well-equipped though not huge, so there was not a lot of room to lay out a mat for stretching or other floor exercises. We suggest adding more vegetarian/vegan dishes or have separate veg menus as some restaurants do. It was a little tricky to avoid repeating meals during our five- night stay. In previous visits to Cancun/Riviera Maya we’ve stayed at the Fairmont, Nizuc and Ritz Carlton (now Kempinski) and St. Regis is definitely our new favorite beach resort … can’t wait to go back! Hasta el año proximo muchas gracias y fuertes abrazos a todos!

Beautiful property with great architecture and nicely appointed rooms but not a luxury hotel. Operational breakdowns are the biggest issue.
Our room was not properly cleaned for three days. The bed linens were not changed, proper replenishment of towels and water did not happen. Though we asked for towels to be replenished it was never done correctly. At one point my wife took a bath before dinner and left wet towels on the floor. When we returned to our room the turn down staff had folded the wet towels from the floor and hung them up! We had to escalate and do a room walk through with two managers to address the issue.
Now the food. The breakfast buffet is just ok. Recommend up leveling the pastries and only providing in season fruits as the fruits were very bitter (plums are NOT in season in February!). Dinner at Chaya was ok. Dinner at Toro was lackluster, we returned a few dishes as did another table across from us. Service could have been much better at both restaurants. Surprisingly room service was good. Chicken wings were crispy and the club sandwich was really good.
We had fun at the beach club, very attentive service, great beach and pool area for adults, but no cabana’s. The cabanas are only at the kid pool area.
I think the final straw was the EDM party on the beach at the Edition hotel next door. The party started at 8:00pm and went beyond 5:45am the next morning. Note that they are both Bonvoy properties with the same owner, so why would they allow a party to be so loud and not end at a proper time? Why weren’t St Regis guests informed? Why didn’t The St Regis provide earplugs at bedside with a note of apology for the noise? We were up all night because of this!
We spoke to The St Regis staff, they were apologetic and unhelpful. We even requested earplugs but we never heard back from
them.
Overall not impressed, if you’re planning to stay here and pay $1400USD for a room, don’t expect a luxury experience.

Dear frenchie g, Thank you for visiting recently St. Regis Kanai and sharing about your visit. We apologize for the incident with towels in your room, what you experienced is an unusual event reason why the correct standard is being reinforced with the team. Your recommendations to the Culinary team to level up pastries with seasonal fruits are truly appreciated. We are glad you enjoyed your time at the adult's beach club, cabanas in that area could be a possibility in the future thanks to your suggestion. The party that took place at the hotel next door was unfortunately beyond our control. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

I was highly disappointed with my experience at the St. Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya.
While the butler services provided were satisfactory, the front desk staff were less than helpful. I found the overall property to be lacking in any standout features. Despite being upgraded to a supposedly better room due to my titanium elite status, I was left underwhelmed by its lack of appeal. Even as someone who enjoys outdoor running, I was disappointed by the absence of a designated area for exercise, leaving guests to find their own way.
Furthermore, the limited activities available outside of a brief champagne event, the spa, and the gym were disappointing. As someone who loves swimming and spending time at the beach, I was dismayed to find an abundance of unsightly weeds littering the shoreline. Additionally, even in shallow water, the presence of these weeds made it difficult to stand comfortably, which took away from the overall swimming experience. It is evident that the St. Regis Kanai Resort falls short of meeting even the most basic expectations.
I can confidently say that this resort is overrated and overpriced. I regret having paid such a high price for an underwhelming experience. I would advise others to save themselves the disappointment and choose a different resort.

As our Suburban was pulling up to the St. Regis, it felt like we were pulling up to ARIA in Las Vegas. The structure was massive. We got out and walked into a huge marble lobby, not a soul around. We walked to the left and found a coffee shop except it was a ghost as it was abandoned. To the right, the enormous conference center beckoned.
We took marble stairs down to the next level and found the front desk. One person was around. We took more marble stairs down to the main level and this is where the golf cart picked us up to take us to Toro, the restaurant we loved in Cabo. We asked for a tour.
Situated among an infinity of mangroves, arose this alien spaceship that comprised the 140 rooms and suites, three levels complete with elevator banks. It was surreal. Nowhere close to the beach. Like the Auberge Etereo next door, you need binoculars to get a great view of the ocean. Forget about beachfront rooms, there aren't any.
The long concrete path ended at the beach club, a gigantic area that where hotel guests go to enjoy the beach. There was a restaurant, pool and plenty of chairs. There were no guests.
We were staying at the Rosewood that had 90% occupancy. Sure, the St. Regis opened just a few weeks earlier, but it was deserted. And no wonder why. I am only reviewing this property for my loyal readers because anyone coming to the Riviera Maya would expect a beach resort, not a Vegas hotel without a casino.
I have no idea what Marriott is thinking with the St. Regis brand. In January, we went to Bahia Beach which was the worst property we have ever seen. In February we went to Punta Mita which was one of the best properties we have seen. And now in March, the disappointment of Kanai.
This was built as a convention hotel, no doubt. But I pity the conventioneers who come here and expect a beach resort. When you have take an elevator to your room at what should be a 5-star resort, you know something is terribly wrong.
At least Toro was good.

Everything is new, seems like every room has a great view, food is delicious and all staff is extremely helpful and go above and beyond expectations.
However, there are limited good pool spots and no reservation rules. People leave backpacks between 5:30-6:00AM to reserve spots and come back at noon.
It takes away from a relaxing experience if you need to wake up at 5:30AM in order to get good pool spots.
I have been to other resorts where staff remove unattended items if they are alone for 1 hour.

Brand new resort, we were told they opened Feb 28th, 2023. Lovely design and architecture, very spacious with a minimalist modern aesthetic.
Good location about 45 min from the Airport and 25 min to downtown Playa Del Carmen.
Service was excellent, staff was extremely attentive and eager to accommodate. It was very easy to communicate with them via WhatsApp, but you didn’t have to look far to find someone who can help.
Rooms are spacious and well appointed with nespresso machines and complimentary water. Rooms also include a steamer for your clothes or the butlers will also be happy to steam/press a few pieces for you (for free).
Overall the food was very good especially for being brand new. Chaya is more casual and server breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast buffet was very nice and there was an also an extensive selection of a la Carte options in the morning. Toro is beachfront and open for dinner, it was excellent. The hamburger by the pool for lunch was also outstanding. I would have liked a simple option for tacos and other “traditional” Mexican food, but there are more restaurants opening very soon so that may be available in the future.
The spa is lovely, but also very expensive. Compared to the rest of the resort it did seem a bit cramped, but did have all the expected amenities of a first class 5-star spa. It did also include a few glasses of champagne, one when you check in and then there is more available in the relaxation room.

Once we completed our stay at the Edition which is a five minute golf cart ride away, we arrived at the St Regis in the afternoon, and were immediately greeted with cold towels and a pleasant check-in. Our room was ready and we were escorted by our butler to our room and given a tour of the property on our way there. Although the beach club, the pool and the amenities at the property were well finished and absolutely spectacular, one thing to note was that we felt the property to be understaffed. Our request to our Butlers were delayed at some moments, for examples we had ordered water when we were out to dinner which didn’t arrive, and some nights we did not get turn down service, or they came to do turn down service way too early around 6pm.
I will say Alejandro at the adult beach club was incredibly attentive to us and went out of his way to make sure that we had fresh towels, drinks and food, even though there were many other guests around us. We look forward to coming back to the property soon!

Incredible week at the St Regis in riviera Maya. The beds were so comfortable that I looked forward to going to sleep! The food and service were excellent . Everything clean and perfect. There were so many people cleaning the beach and getting rid of all the seaweed early in the morning so the beach was seaweed free for us. Carlos, our butler, was so attentive and wonderful. He made all our dinner reservations and brought us our favorite coffee drinks in the morning. He also recommended snorkeling five minutes away by boat and I’m so glad we did that. Felt like we were in a beautiful aquarium. Extra thanks to Carlos for that !! :) Highly recommend the st Regis!!

I stayed at a room with terrace and plunge pool. All are first floor only. Second and third only have terrace. Beautiful room with spacious terrace and the view and pool are amazing as well.
Cannot share photos in this text-only post. But please do review the official hotel photos. There is one photo with a clear view of the plunge pool just like the room we stayed at.
Definitely recommend, you will not regret!
