Palmaïa The House of AïA All Inclusive Wellness Resort comes highly recommended for its serene beachfront location and diverse activities. Guests are often impressed by the hotel's cleanliness and the attentive, friendly service, though some inconsistencies are noted. The modern rooms with stunning views are well-liked, but the minibar and pricing receive some criticism.
Amenities, including the beach, pools, and wellness classes, are popular, but the spa and gym could see improvements. Despite concerns over value due to high rates and spa pricing, the tranquil atmosphere remains a highlight for many travelers.

There is so much to talk about, I’m not sure where to begin. If your attention span is short and you want me to cut to the chase: JUST GO. You won’t be disappointed. I promise. If you would prefer a bit more information, read on!
To be honest, when I’m trying to find a resort, I usually select “Adults Only” in the search filter. For some reason this time during my search, I didn’t, and I was able to discover the paradise I never knew existed. Palmaïa ~ The House of Aïa is described on its website as “A Sanctuary for your soul”. And it truly is. I knew it was special the moment I set foot in the lobby and was greeted by a sensory experience. The décor is lovely, the scent is beautiful and the smiling faces behind the desk are welcoming. My room was not ready yet (I didn’t expect it to be because I was quite early) so Luis took me on a tour of the resort and then dropped me off at Su Casa for lunch. Thank you, Luis, for giving me the tour – so helpful! May the force be with you, my friend!
The Service is 100% 5-Star. There are no butlers or concierges … instead you are assigned a Nomadic Guide, and I was lucky enough to get two: Jacky and Esteban. They are both beautiful souls who love what they do and go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need for an incredible stay. Both Jacky and Esteban checked in with me regularly – the resort uses WhatsApp, and it is a super-efficient way to communicate instantly. By the time I sat down for lunch on my first day, Jacky had already made my dinner reservations for the remainder of my stay. Your Nomadic Guide will ask what your preferred time for dinner is and will do whatever they can to get you to that time slot. The resort was not at capacity so there was only 1 restaurant open each night – to me, this was perfectly fine. In fact, it made the decision-making easy! More about the food later. Your Nomadic Guide also sends you a list of the daily holistic activities in which you can participate as much – or as little – as you like. Should you need any additional information about the activities, including the Spa, your Nomadic Guide is able to help you. The service at the restaurants is incredible. Shout out to Luis at Su Casa, Isma at Ume and Valentin at Lek. Thank you for your kindness and attentive service. And of course, to Jacky and Esteban. Your service is exceptional.
The Room: I booked a Sunwing package through my lovely travel agent. Upon arrival at Palmaïa I was told the room booked had a garden / jungle view and was upgraded to an ocean front. I think they will do this when possible – i.e., if capacity allows. I chose to pay for an additional upgrade to a swim out. Room category favorites are all relative: some people prefer the view of the ocean from a higher floor, but I prefer the luxury of walking out onto your patio with direct access to a pool. The room itself was STUNNING. The pictures on the website don’t do the rooms justice. Every detail is breathtaking. The fridge is stocked with water and kombucha (be careful when opening the bottles, lol!). There is a Nespresso machine, green and chamomile teas and agave sweetener. Should you wish to have alcohol, you can easily have it delivered. The bathroom vanity is stocked with Insect Repellent (I never used it, did not need it), soothing after-sun Aloe Gel, Hand Soap and Body Lotion. Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash will be found in the shower. And if you have forgotten to pack something, in my case it was toothpaste, you can have it brought to your room.
The only thing I would have loved to have was a chaise longue on my patio. You do get a table and 2 chairs, but I would have loved a chair on which to lounge. No big deal, there are plenty of them on the beach and by the pools, but it would have been lovely to stretch out on my own patio.
The Food. Amazeballs. I’m vegan as were many people I met at the resort. I also met many who weren’t and LOVED the food. Everything is fresh and meticulously prepared. Palmaïa is serious about a true gastronomic experience while maintaining a healthy gut biome. I believe it’s Michelin star quality that one can feel good about eating. It was ALL wonderful; some of the most outstanding dishes in my opinion included: the Poblano Taco (Charly’s Vegan Tacos), the Wakame Salad and Omakase at Ume (Vegan sushi), the Chilaquiles for breakfast at Su Casa, the Power Shot and Poblano Soup from Plantissa (do NOT miss this!!), the Yellow Curry (from the Mar de Olivo menu at Su Casa), the Grilled Organic Lettuce and Tender Corn Tetela at Lek. The chefs are culinary artists. If you like crafted cocktails (alcoholic or non), you will be in for a treat. To be honest, I’m not hugely into cocktails but I did have the Dhang one evening – it had pink masala, turmeric, orange and coconut foam (and gin!) and it was delicious. Another lovely attention to detail is the cocktail menu itself: the name of each cocktail has a meaning. For example: Dhang means Sage in Hindi. Truth be told, I’m more into wine and I have been to some resorts where the wine was not drinkable at all. Not the case here, the Chardonnay and Cava were very good.
Overall, the VIBE is pure tranquility. I have been to many all-inclusive resorts, but never the same place twice. I honestly don't think I need to go anywhere else in Mexico. Looking to celebrate a milestone birthday here early next year, however I'm not sure I can wait that long to go back. Maybe next month ...!
I encourage you to open your heart and mind to this awe-inspiring place of heaven on earth.

This resort really is unique among all-inclusive resorts - while various other 5 star resorts in the area are great, this resort was really above and beyond. Every room offers an amazing view, we were given a king suite on the top floor and the view was as good as it gets. Every aspect of what most people would consider very important was exceptional - food, service, rooms, beach, entertainment, grounds, etc. The beach area at this resort is really the most beautiful part I have seen in all of Playa Del Carmen. Every meal was made fresh, and the quality resembled that of eating at a fine restaurant each time. Andres, Edgardo, and Eduardo were incredibly helpful and attentive to our needs. Several wait staff attending to us during meals were also wonderful including Cesar and Ricardo. Something we also really appreciated during our stay was the extended checkout on our last day, our flight was a bit later than typical. We had no problems and were made to feel welcome our entire stay.

I found out about this resort from reading an article in the NY Times and it seemed amazing. We were not let down!
The resort itself is beautiful, situated on a long stretch of white sand natural beach. We were upgraded to a swim out suite. It was new, very clean and comfortable. I love that they give you a reusable water bottle when checking in to use throughout the stay, so no plastic water bottle waste!!
I cannot say enough good things about the food at this resort.
All the resaturants feature plant based menus and every single meal we had was absolutely delicious. My husband is not a vegetarian and was amazed at how tasty everything was. The Food and Beverage Manager, Ulisses (sorry for the spelling), was so extremely gracious and went out of his way to make sure we had incredible new things to taste at many meals. Chef Maurizio, is a magician. He even makes the bread with home made vegan butter. Every single waiter, waitress, bartender and worker that we came in contact with was friendly, professional and couldn't seem to do enough for us, all with a smile on their face.
Javier, the Hotel Manager, personally welcomed us and checked in throughout the stay to make sure that we didn't need anything and our stay was going well.
The spa was not like the typical resort spa and didn't have a steam room and the usual amenities but, I had a great massage in a room with an amazing jungle view.
There are daily yoga and meditaion classes that I didn't get to try but, will next time for sure.
The resort was not at all crowded, I'm sure it is because it is very new, and I'm secretly hoping that the word doesn't get out. We are already trying to figure out when we can go back with the family. There is a larger resort next door that has water slides and other amenities that you can use when staying at Palmaia. They also provide transfers to and from the airport in an SUV. The usual place we stay charges over $200 for that!!
Can't wait to go back.

The ritual welcome sets the tone for an odyssey of connection, regeneration and rejuvenation. Covid compliant and sensitive to best health and safety practices, Navigators and Nomads cater to your every desire in attentive and unobtrusive manner. Iran and Edgargdo, offer a warm welcome with transport led by Jesus to a beautiful 5th floor room overlooking the stunning resort, miles of sandy beach and beautiful ocean. My suite was comfortable with a boho casual elegant vibe, comfortable soft unwind after a day at the beach and delicious dinner. Eugene, is the passionate overseer of the vegan, vegetarian, and mainstream dining option truly offer something for everyone. Salvadore’s professionalism ensures your dining experience is exactly to your liking. Ruby, full of warmth greets you like a long time friend. Speciality coffees and terrific service from Lucy and Yamelith make breakfast a yummy start to the day. Allan, a superb mixologist creates an array of specialty cocktails that are inventive and tasty. Sebastian, Isia,
Cesar, Armando,Jesus, Oscar, and Alejandro made lunch and dinner at each of the restaurants special.
Andre, Larissa and Eduardo looked after reservations, information, orientation, whatever needed taking care of…so genuine. David, spa manager assesses and recommends treatments that best address those wellness needs. Andrea’s massage eliminates every trace of tension and stress and a special ritual at the commencement of the spa treatment is a lovely surprise. The private spa buildings with a full glass wall overlook the jungle. The walk past the waterfall is magical. A nicely outfited jungle gym with glass walls overlooks the jungle with views of wildlife while you’re working out. To restore, your spirit, a meditation deck built amongst and around trees is a gathering place for meditation and yoga or quite contemplation. Balder, a gifted healer, whose spirit and insights are a balm for a weary soul. I’m already planning my return.

Staying at Palmaia was complete paradise. After a stressful year, I booked a solo trip to the House of Aia to connect with nature and relax. Palmaia was everything I needed and more. From the moment I checked in, the staff welcomed me like family. Palmaia is the most beautiful, peaceful and serene place I’ve ever stayed. The rooms were so comfortable with fresh drinking water brought throughout the day, a fully stocked mini bar with healthy beverages and snacks, a comfortable bed and a mesmerizing ocean view for watching the sunrise. The restaurants are superb. I am vegan, and the plant based cuisine is the best I’ve ever had. The chef takes so much care in the menu, preparation, presentation and flavor of the cuisine. While at Palmaia, I enjoyed a facial, therapeutic yoga and a meditation concert. In the evenings, I relaxed by the bonfire and listened to the live music from the ritual of sound.
I also appreciated how well the property follows COVID guidelines and helped me feel safe and secure. I would highly recommend a visit to Palmaia.

What an amazing resort. Absolutely first class service from the staff to the gourmet dining we loved everything about this resort. The suites are beautifully designed and extremely spacious. From the moment you arrive you are assigned a personal butler to assist with anything you need. Our butler was Edgardo and he was absolutely exceptional. He went out of his way to make our stay really special. The staff here makes certain you don’t lift a finger for one thing. Cynthia in Su Casa was amazing every morning for breakfast as well as Jose who is an assistant waiter in the evening restaurants. All of the staff really go out of their way to make you feel special. During the day on the beach the food and waiter service is also amazing. Fernando and Jamie both took incredible care of us each day on the beach. We all received spa treatments which were also amazing. From the jungle views to the great service we received from receptionist Ragl (?) and therapist David we were so impressed. My daughter also had her nails done and was very happy and pampered. The food alone here deserves its own review. Both the plant based menu as well as full menu the food was outstanding!!!
I have never experienced an all inclusive like this one and we have been to several but none can compare. I also really enjoyed Yoga classes every morning here each were different and all instructors were exceptional. Can not wait to return to this piece of heaven !!!

Just back from an amazing 2 weeks here. We enjoyed everything from the pools to the beach and the whole family enjoyed the different classes. The sound of meditation was our favourite and the children enjoyed painting water colours on the beach. I enjoyed peace and quiet to myself whilst attending the yoga classes before breakfast, The gym was also very nice with enough equipment. All the staff were so friendly and drinks service was very good around the pool and at the beach bar. Our nomadic guide had to leave after 3 days, another guide took over and made all our reservations for evening meals. But I didn’t feel we got the same level of service as others had (guides checking in on them etc, but to be fair we didn’t need it). The only thing that I think could of improved our stay was house keeping and the children’s menu. House keeping wasn’t very good, maybe it’s because they are used to a shorter staying guest but our room was never very clean. I would go around wiping dust of surfaces, also turn down wasn’t constant nether was the restocking of the fridge. We never had the red light on to say don’t disturb so not sure why they didn’t do this?
The children’s menu is very repetitive and is the same in all restaurants. Chicken fingers and fries, hamburger, butter pasta. My children soon tired of the menu and we struggled with the lack of vegetables available to them. We would visit the taco truck (amazing food) just to get them corn. Myself and husband enjoyed all the food, fix the children’s menu and it would be perfect.
The staff, food for adults and classes were prefect and the location of the room facing the ocean was ideal.
I would def return but sadly no tour operators are selling this holiday from the UK (booking directly with hotel with flights is so expensive) so unsure when we would be able to return.
We have visited Mexico many times, staying in this area and this has to be one of our favourite hotels to date.

We visited Palmaia during Covid and were so glad we did. We were scared to travel during the pandemic but the hotel made every effort to keep us safe and happy. We stayed 6 nights and wish we could have stayed longer.
The people are wonderful and will bend over backwards to help you in any way they can. The grounds are pristine and stunning. The food is excellent and has a great variety, if you're not plant based there are plenty of meat and fish options. Breakfast and lunch is out of this world and you can choose whatever you want, dinner is chosen by the chef and several courses. All the restaurants are beautiful. The outdoor bar area is stunning.
The wellness aspect of the hotel is very interesting and we enjoyed our meetings with Baldar the shaman very much. We also enjoyed the meditation. The spa services were amazing, Norma is a great masseuse and the spa and gym is located in the jungle which is beautiful. As far as the gym goes you can reserve a time to use it and have it to yourself (Covid protocol).
Our room was always clean and we always had a fresh drink. Everyone always had a smile on their face. He staff is very well trained and the nomadic guides are very helpful. You can text them whatever you need and they reply ASAP. All menus are digital with a QR code and there are no plastic cups. Everything is echo friendly and not wasteful.
The beach sand was soft, water was clear and clean and the pools were spotless. We loved the swim up bar!
The hotel is still very new and currently pretty empty. I am sure as they become more popular they will continue to invest in the property even more. All the staff wore masks 24/7.
If you're not sure, just go! You won't regret it.

First of all I ‘m not some one that writes reviews but I ‘m doing this one so I can make sure you don’t make the First
First of all I never write reviews my goal here is make sure you don’t make the same mistake and waist your money like we did .
My Girlfriend was going to write a review but they made her sign a form making sure that she wouldn’t write a bad review after gifting us with a massage due to the loud noise we experience at first night at the hotel .
We choose this hotel based on the reviews and web site photos we also assume (was a mistake ) that if we are paying $700 a night we would be getting a more exclusive experience, service , food , and thinking it all inclusive we would make it worth the money.
Guess what NOT WORTH It . This hotel is worth $200 to max $350 a night and let me explain you why.
✅I have been in other all inclusive hotels where you can find alcohol in your room ... so if you are looking to have access to liquor you are going to have to beg for it .
They make it hard so you don’t consume the “unlimited “ Bose .
✅ Food : They make the presentation of the food look amazing. The quality of the food is ridiculously cheap.
The size of the portions French style and you have to really hustle with the servers to get more food. My girlfriend asked the server how many vegetable comes with this portion? The server asked her “ Do you want me to go in the kitchen and count the vegetables for you?”
We couldn’t believe it .
✅ Room service : You call for room service and the front desk answers and takes your order by the time your order gets to the kitchen it’s backwards and incomplete so you never get what you ask for. When the food arrives it’s poor quality and cold.
We were there for 7 nights menu never changes .
This place isn’t for meat eaters .
I have to say for every rule their are exceptions : Andres the manager tried to make the best as he could .
Edward : I believe that is his name was great too .
Sergio : Was the server was amazing with us .
Norma : the massage lady was out standing .
The room was comfortable the hotel has nice pools
It is part of Sandols (very low quality) .
Bottom of line We will never go back !

Where do I start? First of all I would like to say if you are worried because of Covid, don’t. They are very conscientious and are taking A LOT of measures to keep you safe. We arrived last Saturday and have enjoyed our stay very, very much. The food, while different, is wonderful. If you don’t mind stepping out of your comfort zone you will be very happy and surprised. Everything is truly made to order, always hot and fresh! The rooms are exceptionally clean as well as the rest of the resort. They check on our room twice a day! The staff are truly happy there as we have spoken to many of them. I would like to mention some staff: Edgar, Alberto, Wendy, Aram, Edgardo, Sarah, the night bartender(so sorry I think his name is Manuel), Norma-my husband loved his massage! I did also with my masseuse. On to the drinks: if you are used to a normal all-inclusive where the drinks are made from mixes well then you are in for a surprise. Everything is fresh from fresh ingredients and also with top shelf liquors. The coffee is not instant. They have different activities during the day. This is not a “party” atmosphere. Far from it, however, the relaxation you get while you are here is truly good for the soul. I have read some reviews, and yes I’m that person that reads everything before I go, I wonder what they didn’t really like. The price is a little more than some of the resorts In the area, but far less than where my husband had originally booked to go. For the service and amenities you receive then the price is really a good value. We could not stay a week in a nice condo on the beach with food and liquor in the states for much less than we paid here. The resort is in a nice safe gated community as well and there is at least 3 security guards that we see at all times. We have every intention of returning in the future. Thank you so very much for a much needed relaxing vacation Palamia!
