We stayed here overnight before taking the ferry to Isla Mujeres and it was very convenient. There is a large grocery store less then a block away and of course it is across the street from the ferry.
It has great views from the rooftop deck. The rooms were clean and the bottled water was greatly appreciated. There is a doorman who will take your bags to your room if you need that. Not much advertising for the restaurant in house so we did not eat there but instead walked around to the back street and ate at a local joint.

I would expect more from a Marriott hotel. Promoted as a 4* hotel, this Aloft is a 3* basic one at its best. No hairdryer in the room, no minibar (no even a small empty fridge), the windows are fixed and can't be opened. When I needed to use the only computer in the business corner, I found it was broken. The reception explained it cannot be fixed because it's the weekend.

Poorly organized housekeeping. I alerted the reception, my room has never been cleaned for 5 days. Shortly, a young guy showed up at my room door carrying two flat sheets. I also asked about pillowcases and towels - he brought them on the second and third rounds and surprisingly left me changing the bed linen by myself. The guests never change linen even in the motels!!! The trash bin remained uncleared for days. The corridor carpet on our floor was permanently dirty.

I was considering even less score, but two things prevented it - a really comfy bed and the open bar in the lobby. Combined with the great location, a 3-star score is fair enough.

The hotel is basic and the service was nice.
If you keep your expectations realistic, you’ll enjoy your stay. It is NOT the Marriott.

We had a partial ocean view and we stayed in a corner room on the 8th floor. So it was very quiet and I think we just missed the spring break students.

It’s at a very good location—located near the ferry to go to La Mujeras——and for the price, you get value for your money. We were told it would be easy to take the bus to the downtown Cancun from this location.

Cancún and the Hotel Zone is expensive for Mexico. So this is a fair midrange option.

Two stars because of very frendly stuff and great breakfast. Usually I'd like to give 1* beacuse of poor food menu for lunch and dinner and noise in bedroom. They have A La Carte menu for lunch and dinner. Menu contains only 2 kind of main dish. Same menu for lunch and dinner, evey day. We paid for all inclusive and we expect various food for hotel with 4*. After 2 days, you can't eat pasta or grilled chicken breast anymore and you must eat in restaurants out of hotel and spend more money for that. Second bad thing is a big noise in bedroom. noise comes from ventilation pipes behind the walls and starts at 8am. This two problems are serious for 4* hotel and I do not recommend this hotel for stay. Also, windows are fixed and you can't open it for fresh air in the morning

Our room at the Cancun Aloft was a frigid 68 F (19 C) when we arrived. I turned up the thermostat before going out, but on our return, the thermostat had dropped back to 68 F. The maintenance guy checked the thermostat, said it worked. But it didn't. The hotel moved us to a different room. Still cold.

Finally the desk clerk admitted that all rooms in the hotel are kept at the same temperature. There is no way to control the temperature for a particular room.

The pictures of this hotel look really nice (good job to the photographer!) and the option to book a room with a full view to the lagoon also sounded nice. But all in all our stay here was pretty disappointing. The first room we were given had a view to the neighboring building. The next one at least had a partial sea view. Also, the rooms will only be fixed every 3 days - which is a bit of a bummer if you only stay for 3 nights (though I do agree with not exchanging the sheets and towels for 3 days!) - unless you ask for them to be fixed earlier. Breakfast is nothing to write home about. There is no beach access, but you can cross the street and wiggle your way through to a small beach. There is a small stand inside the hotel which offers excursions - but they actually sell you a valuable tour (with a nice shiny leaflet) and then book you on another, cheap tour instead. Might have been a mistake. But given all the experience we made with this hotel and the tours, it feels like this is done on purpose.
But I don't want to be unfair: Some people who work in the hotel are really nice and helpful. Others not so much.

My stay was off to a bad start when I arrived and saw the line for check in was all the way to the main entrance. It moved very slowly and it took 45 minutes to check in. Another thing that took time was the elevators. There are only two slow elevators serving the large building.

The walls and doors seem to be thin, because I could hear every conversation and song played in the room next door and I could here every group conversing when they passed by room. Despite being Marriott Titanium and requesting a room away from the elvator, they put me in a room right next to the elevator.

There are cocktails at the lobby bar included with the price of your stay. However, I had only one mojito and ended up with a stomach ache beginning the next morning. (Perhaps the ice wasn't made of purified water or the mint leaves weren't washed.)

Rooms have precisely three towels: two bath towels and one hand towel. When I went to the gym, there were no towels available. When I went to pool, there were no towels available for guests. This is the only Marriott affiliated hotel I've ever stayed that you have to go buy/bring your own towels for the pool.

I recommend staying elsewhere.

I signed up for this hotel as part of my conference attendance. Got there and was told my room was not ready. However, I got there after 5 when check in is 3pm. We had to wait in the lobby with some stench constantly wafting in through the doors. We finally got put into a room on the 7th floor where the ac controls did not work. Nor did we have enough towels. Gabriel was kind enough (good enough at customer service) to bring more. I requested maintenance for the ac and someone did come but nothing changed. So we bundled up to weather the cold (in a tropical country) for the night. The TV was solely in Spanish, not too surprising but I had hoped to be able to sign into Netflix. Not an option. The shower also leaked when we used it. The room was dated and we could see mold in the showers. I requested a room change the following day and was granted one on the 9th floor. The stench at the entrance was constantthroughoutt our stay. The bar staff was friendly and welcoming and the location is ideal but the hotel is in desperate need of renovation. The 2nd room shower (on the 9th floor) didn't leak, the ac controls worked but we didn't bother with the television. Had to request more towels frequently as well as washcloths and were given grey and stained washcloths. The towels themselves were dingy. I unfortunately did not get an itemised copy of the bill as usual and have been trying to email and call to get through to them. The phone rings, but there is no answer and no answer to email either. My points are also not showing up on my Marriot BonVoy account. Nor did I receive the customary email requesting a review. This hotel is in desperate need of new management and renovation which is a shame because it is in a great location. Marriott needs to check up on this property, quickly.

Ok so people always say, you get what you pay for and that is exactly it for this hotel. This was a very cheap place to stay very close to the ocean so you get 1 star for free drinks, and 1 star for the fabulous service (Mario was awesome and very attentive and just a nice guy, the bartender and concierge were also awesome) but that is where it ends. I called a month in advance to make sure we could have adjoining rooms since we are a family of 5 and was told no problem only to get there and find out you don't even have adjoining rooms in this hotel. Then the rooftop pool was cool but there were open electrical boxes and open wires right next to the pool thank God our kids listen to us and stayed away from that area. Another issue is that one of the elevators security feature wasn't working where it requires you to swipe your key to make it work, so anyone could walk into the hotel and get on any floor which was kind of nerve racking... Now the biggest issue was how gross the rooms were. Our mattress and in-room furniture were disgusting. Marriott needs to gut this place and remodel it!

Check in is painfully slow… they even make you sign that you are responsible if you lose the 30 cent room key. Seriously? The room was pitiful … no mini Bar as advertised; no coffee maker: not even an ice bucket; the chair was pitted and the headboards were worn but the 1957 clock was a feature .

the 24 market is a joke … very limited . The bar is tiny .No housekeeping in two days… towels are Soviet era garbage

The breakfast features terrible white bread one selection of crappy lunch meat , velvets wrapped singles if yiu are lucky snd a few scattered items… no hot items- no eggs, breakfast meet or oatmeal … clown walks around in a chef outfit lol .

All is not lost Drag Queen parade tonight hosted by Aloft

I dont think there is free testing anywhere in Mexico. I might be wrong. The hotel will assist you with finding a place to get a covid test. There are many testing sites near this hotel. The prices ranged from $25 - $40.
