This was our first trip to Cancun, and we weren’t disappointed. The hotel is a modern adults only set up which provided great food and accommodation in an ideal location for our honeymoon. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay and the provision of a “butler” for preferred members was a very helpful addition, Sandra was our floor Butler and greeted us every day with a welcoming smile with helpful tips and advice on what was happening at the hotel during the day. Our room was on the 25th floor and provided fabulous views of the beach, The room was very spacious and was cleaned several times a day with everything you could ever need always available. All rooms have a mobile tablet with info on restaurants, bars and room service, which was easy to navigate, this can also be achieved by downloading the hotel app which also allows you to be notified when your table is available at one of the many restaurants which saves any queueing. The hotel is located right on the beach, which is kept immaculate and hassle free. The entertainment at the hotel is the best we have ever experienced, with live bands every night, some of which were just incredible. If you want to venture out at night I would recommend hopping on a bus which stops right outside the hotel and will cost around 12 pesos to get to Coco Bongo and the shopping areas which only takes around five minutes. The shopping areas nearby are very impressive and not badly priced either. We did lots of research before coming here and we’re not disappointed, Our top tips would be get a high room if you can to enjoy the views, Ocean view is definitely better than the Lagoon side, The Hard Rock Hotel Next door can be a little noisy at night if you are outside or on your balcony but by around 11 pm it all quietens down, we never found it a problem although others did. Take a bus ride to the shopping centres and definitely go to Coco bongo which isn’t cheap but was definitely worth the money. I hope you enjoy this review and find it helpful, We had a fabulous time, and I think you probably will too.

I have informed everyone that if they visit Cancun, this hotel is a must. Upon our arrival we were greeted with a drink and friendly faces. The front entrance alone is stunning, let alone the views from our hotel room.
We had an ocean view room, and it was a delight to wake up every morning and sit on the balcony whilst we took in the views.

The room - The bed was so comfy and extremely spacious. The room was clean upon arrival and was tidied daily. The room itself was stunning. My only complaints for the room was the fact the shower pressure was quite weak and on the odd day you can smell the drain, luckily the smell went after a while and wasn't too strong.
You have 24hr room service, which was nice when you are feeling lazy or craving a late night snack.

The restaurants - The food within each restaurant was delicious, there are many to pick from and you will find an option for even the most pickiest of eaters. My favourite being the steak restaurant, the empanadas are to die for; only complaint is due to the fact it is a favourite, you have to wait 45 mins - an hour for seating, but you are able to have a drink at the bar which isn’t too bad.

The drinks served throughout the restaurants were nice and full of alcohol; which is never usually the case for all inclusive hotels. The staff around the pool will ensure your glass is never empty, the same applies at the beach.

They offer a range of activities throughout the day both at the hotel and on the beach. Please note beach activities such as parasailing require a further payment.

This hotel is honestly a 10/10. Perfect location, always something to do and very clean. Highly recommend

We stayed in the Preferred Club Junior Suite Ocean-View with all-inclusive for 5 nights. Here are some of the highlights of our trip:

1. Hospitality and service was unmatched. Staff was warm, friendly, efficient, and communicative. We were assigned Bruce and Stefano as our personal concierge. They were available via Whatsapp from 7 AM - 11 PM, after which we had access to the after-hours operator and general concierge. Bruce and Stefano (and special mention to Dulce) were extremely helpful, making great recommendations for attractions, sight-seeing, local markets/food etc. and accommodating our requests in a timely manner with great care. They went the extra mile to make our stay a memorable one, and it was truly a pleasure to work with them.

2. Restaurants overall have great variety, ambiance, service, and food quality. Personal favorites were Market Cafe (shout-out to their breakfast buffet) and Nebbiolo. With all-inclusive, it was definitely worth taking advantage of the food and drinks, both of which were very impressive all-round.

3. Hydrotherapy spa treatment was very relaxing. We had a complimentary couples hydrotherapy available through our package, and they took great care of us to help us feel accommodated and relaxed. I appreciated their attention to detail, especially while making sure we don't have any history of health issues/reactions with previous heat/cold exposure etc. Speaking of relaxation, the gym is well-stocked, spacious, and has a lovely ocean view to enjoy.

4. Ocean view was picture-perfect (I still have dreams of the view lol). Not just from our room, but also from any of the pools, the pristine turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea and clear sand are perfectly etched in our memories. Through the preferred club, we had access to the infinity pool, which was great for some quiet time without the crowd. When we wanted a fun and vibrant environment, we would hop over to the public pools where it was well-managed and relaxing as well.

5. General activities at the resort were fun and well-organized; there is a lot going on to keep you busy and entertained. For example, wine tastings daily at 1 PM and 3 PM, yoga in the mornings, board games near the cafe (open 24/7 btw), pool activities during the day, musical artists and dancers during the evening.

6. Booking extra activities was made easy with AMSTAR, an on-site agency through which you could reserve excursions, water activities, sight-seeing etc. For example, day-trips to Chichen-Itza, Tulum, Isla Mujeres, Cenotes, and more. I personally tried the jet-skiing and it was a lot of fun.

10/10 and would love to visit again!

While I would like to rate this place higher, there were just too many things wrong with our visit. Let me first say that the staff here is fantastic! Evelyn (the Sales Manager), & Erika (the Chief Concierge) were awesome, offering their services whenever possible. Uriel (a Server in the Oleo restaurant), Eduardo (a Server in the Italian restaurant), & Pablo (a Server in the Marketplace restaurant) went above and beyond every time we ate there. Every afternoon there is a free wine tasting experience, there are several restaurants (7) on-site, but many of them were closed during our visit. Several doors accessing the outside restaurants or activities were closed for repairs, and have been for over 2 years! There are 3 pools to swim in, plus a 4th roof-top one for those who are in the Preferred Club group (a really nice perk). The resort was always extremely hot and humid, as only the rooms and a few other places are air-conditioned for some reason. Also, for some reason, they use really strong incense in the Lobby and other areas, which was really nauseating. As far as our room, the air conditioning did not work properly. It was always on full blast at a freezing temperature, but the thermostat didn't work at all. It took 2 days for them to "fix" it, but all they did was to shut it off. Our room lights were another trip! They would turn on and off at the weirdest times in the middle of the night, and all day long! Our hot water did not work in the shower, although they fixed that the next day. Our TV didn't work properly, and 3 people couldn't get it to work correctly. (To be fair, they are changing Cable Companies and they are trying to figure out how to make things work.) While this is an "all inclusive", don't expect anything from your drinks. No matter where you go, the "bartenders" barely "splash" any alcohol into a drink. Seriously, they fill your glass with ice, literally barely tip the bottle into your glass, then just fill it up with whatever. There is NOTHING to do at this place besides swim (but the pool closes at 6:00pm) or walk the beach. Walking or sitting on the beach means constantly being harassed by people selling hats, jewelry, wristbands or excursions. There is not much to do after dark, as there is only one "sports bar", and, unless there is a special event going on at the Red, your only other option is to play board games in the really dark "family room". Again, the people here are great, but this is a pretty dead place with lots of issues.

Big scam hotel, please go somewhere else if you want to enjoy your trip!
We know that when you leave the hotel, you're often faced with scams and hidden fees, and unfortunately, Secret the Vine is no different.
ALERT: The lock on our hotel room door stopped working, and the door wouldn’t lock. We’re unsure how long it had been unlocked, but thankfully, our belongings were safe. Our room phone line was broken and it took them 3 days to come check out the line.
Hotel: The room doors, bathroom mirror, and corners of the bathroom were all in poor condition. When it started to rain, water leaked into the hotel.
Service: It's clear that the staff doesn’t want to be there; they only show generosity and smile when tipped. However, they seem unhappy with small tips. Staff in general were` rude and unwelcoming to big groups.
- A couple seated next to our table spent extra money on wine, and as a result, they turned on the AC just for their corner.
Lobby: It seemed like they deliberately turned off the AC in the lobby, as if they didn't want people relaxing there. The lobby was unbearably hot, with the temperature at 30°C, and to make it worse, they also turned on the fireplace.
Room: The room was very disappointing; the reality was a complete contrast to what I saw in the Google photos. The cleanliness was poor— they didn't clean the floor, restock the water or drinks in the fridge, and failed to remove the dirty towels.
All inclusive deal: Even though this is an all-inclusive hotel, the staff seems unhappy if you drink or eat too much. While we were at Market Cafe with 10 friends, enjoying drinks and food, the manager became upset and stood beside us, glaring to make us feel unwelcome.
The hotel offers a $200 coupon, but you can't use it without spending money first. For example, the spa costs $249, and you're only allowed to apply a $40 coupon, or for a romantic dinner priced at $280, you can use a $60 coupon. While they market it as VIP service, you still have to spend upfront to take advantage of it.
Overall, this was the worst experience I've ever had. Secret the Vine ruined what was supposed to be an exciting trip with friends, leaving us all disappointed as we left Cancun with no desire to return.

The gated entry brought an immediate sense of security upon entering the property, and the cold towels and glasses of champagne upon walking through the doors made me feel spoiled. The hotel was beautiful with incredible views and beachfront access just steps away from the 3 primary pools. The endless restaurant, bar, and snack bar options offered so much variety throughout our trip. The staff was extremely attentive and kind and truly made us feel welcome. We look forward to returning again soon.

I've been to Cancun, Riviera Maya, and surrounding at least 20 times and I've stayed at so many different resorts. This was my least favorite resort. Here's why:

1. Lacks charm and ambiance - although the beach is beautiful, the resort lacks charm. The lobby is dark, there are no garden areas, and the pools are small and crowded. There isn't a swim up bar and it's so hard to get a beach chair because everyone reserves them with towels early in the morning and there is no monitoring. We stayed in an ocean front honeymoon suite and the furnishings were outdated and design was terrible. The bathtub was right in front of the patio door and we had to walk sideways to not trip over it. The patio furniture was not purposeful so you could enjoy the balcony. There are no hammocks.

2. Understaffed - there are not enough staff to take care of the amount of people. We ordered a drink on the beach and waited 40 minutes. We went up to the bar to get the drink ourselves and discovered that there was only one waiter for the entire beach and he was also the bartender. We also went to the Mexican restaurant in the evening and the food took forever and people were actually getting up and leaving.

3. Weak drinks - every drink we ordered tasted like it had very little alcohol in it. We had to start ordering shots separately and mixing our own drinks. I watched the bartender make a daiquiri pitcher and the pour was maybe a tablespoon. This was the case at every bar and restaurant even if we tipped well. The mini bar in the room only has Sol beer.

4. No reservations at restaurants - although they make the sound really nice on the website, what they don't tell you is there is at least an hour wait and you have to go to the restaurant physically to get on the list. A reservation system is more convenient because you can plan your dinner times accordingly. We ended up eating at almost 10:00 p.m. every night because of the long waits and the food was really disappointing.

5. No evening buffet and food was meh - there's only one breakfast restaurant and nothing for a casual evening buffet, the room service menu and mini bar are extremely limited, and the food at every restaurant except the Peruvian and Italian was not great. So we waited a long time to get a table and then had disappointing food.

6. Terrible customer service - our reservation stated we had $200 in resort credits per person but when we arrived we learned it was per room and they blamed it on Expedia. Then we also learned that the $200 resort credit could not all be used at once unless we combined it with another deal from Hyatt which required us to attend a vacation club presentation. There was also a mix-up with our reservation and when I asked if they would give us preferred access or anything else to make up for the misunderstanding they blamed it on Expedia and the staff would say that their manager said no but the manager would not come and talk to you. They just kept passing me between staff members and wasting my time. I've never had this issue at other resorts.

If you are wondering if Secrets the Vine is the hotel for you for your trip to Cancun, take this as your sign to book without hesitation. Secrets does not leave much for travelers to be disappointed by. The hotel is amazing, the room are spacious and comfy, the beach is breathtaking, there are several restaurant options to choose from (even without upgrading), and the location is perfect if you want to enjoy all the activity that Cancun has to offer. "Welcome Home" is the way they greeted us when we arrived on August 10, 2024, and that is exactly how we felt. Reception from the staff was always warm and friendly and US$1 and a 3 min drive is all it takes to get you to La Isla Mall and the Aquarium. The Cancun sign for pictures is location on a beach just 5 mins away as well (again US$1 on the bus). There are also on-site tour personnel to assist with booking other experiences and a 24-hour taxi service if you prefer to go that route. The pools are beautiful and there was no shortage of lounge chairs, the drinks were great (all virgin), and the nightly entertainment proved to be quite enjoyable. The Vine Bazaar open very early and closes very late and provides wonderful treats, and hot beverages around the clock (when they close physically, their good can be ordered via room service). The price may seem to be on the higher end when compared to other hotels but having been there, I do believe they are worth every penny you pay. Would definitely recommend. My one recommendation would be to avoid visiting the al la carte restaurants with at least an hour's window to closing time; the service is still stellar, but you may find that parts of your dinner taste rushed given the time constraints. Overall, however, this was definitely a memorable experience that deserve 5 stars.

We booked for 5 nights and as soon as we entered there was no smoking anywhere in the hotel. The street was the smoking area. It is not because of state policy but because they want it, so you find yourself in an all inclusive with a drink in your hand that goes hand in hand for smokers and you cannot enjoy. They make you sign a paper so that you pay attention because they fine you. I am convinced that it is too geared toward North Americans and/or Europeans because the hotel is quite boring and they all have schedules geared toward them. The restaurants were a real problem, you had to go to dinner (because they don't have a buffet at night) and it could take at least 40 minutes. Certainly the only nice thing is the room but the rest has not been at all a 5-star Cancun hotel. The staff is friendly, I think they do it for tips, not because they like the job they do. I am a fan of Cancun because it has everything, but I will never return to this hotel because it does not represent Cancun in any way.

A great 20th Anniversary celebration! Our experience from check in to check out everything was excellent. This was a more relaxing resort, not a party scene, but was not looking for that. If your looking for amazing staff, views, food and fun for entertainment this is the resort for you!

Our room was amazing, preferred 2733, view spectacular, room size huge, so clean, housekeeping service daily!

Food, so good, for breakfast we ate at the Market Café each day, lunch at Barefoot Grill and Sea Salt Grill. Personally, the Sea Salt Grill was more of a dinner menu, excellent catch of the day but was hoping for more of a light meal, but that was on us. Dinners at the Mexican, Olio, Bluewater Grill (steakhouse) we did wait about 45 minutes (had drinks at the bar), but once seated food came out quick, hot, and delicious. We also got there about 7:45pm. The Italian, Nebbiolo was amazing, and we waited just 10 minutes and got there about 6:30/6:45pm.

Pools beautiful and clean, drink services were non-stop and friendly. Daily entertainment by the pool was fun, the rock band was excellent. The beach was clean and had chairs, it is a bit smaller and could feel a bit cramped, but the view is so spectacular it did not bother us. The service also 10/10 on the beach for drinks.
The preferred pool was quite and reserved perfect for our last day and again the staff, 10/10.

Yes, the chair game is real, but that is at any resort, be mindful and respectful should not be the resorts job to tell adults to be respectful, if you know your not using a chair until after lunch do not reserve it at 7am. Also pick up after you have left a chair so others know they are free (my personal opinions)!

The evening shows are fun, the Queen tribute was on point! Casino night was a blast. The entertainment staff really works hard.

Go, enjoy, rest, relax, eat, drink and have fun!!
