Nestled in a prime spot with stunning sea views, Golden Parnassus All Inclusive Resort & Spa offers beachfront access that many guests admire. However, some travelers find the room conditions, including leaks and outdated decor, less than satisfactory, and have called out a need for renovation and better room maintenance. While the atmosphere is lively, it can sometimes be overly loud. Amenities draw mixed reactions; the dining options and beach are highlights, but the upkeep of linens and room service receive criticism.
Despite the commendable efforts of the friendly staff, slow service and responsiveness have been noted. Guests appreciate the overall cleanliness but suggest that towel availability could be improved. The value proposition of the resort is questioned by several guests who advise that enhancements in food quality and service could enhance the experience.

The staff truly are excellent. Everyone is friendly and helpful from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, I was extremely impressed with them all! The location is also faultless, amazing views and directly on the beach. There is also no fighting for sun loungers since there are so many by the pool and on the beach there is always room for you. The rooms are nice enough, spacious and the beds are extremely comfortable. I slept very well here. The hotel itself really is not in a great condition, some leaks, and everything looks to have been done as cheap as possible. The cleaning staff clearly do their best to keep everything as clean as possible, but major renovations are needed to get it up to basic standards. This however didn't really bother me personally, I wanted to be on the beach or asleep here, the quality of the building is not a priority for me. What was an issue was food. On the one hand if you are in the Paradise restaurant you would have a nice meal. Lovely breakfast buffet, and at lunch fresh tacos that were truly delicious (the fact this restaurant closed in the evening I found to be ludicrous). Also the breeze bar did some nice burgers, hot dogs, wings, and nachos. The issues came in the evening. The first restaurant we tried was The Old Barn, a steakhouse that only had flank steak included in the all inclusive, or a skewer. Whilst the food here tasted fine the portion sizes were laughable. You would need I would guess 6 skewers to equate a full meal. The Pier 12 restaurant served really rather bad food, again small portions, but it didn't even taste good this time. Shangri La has a very strange rule of men having to wear shoes, no sandals as if they are a fine dining restaurant in Mayfair, but you then go into a tacky room, and eat overcooked food. The items on the menu were strange, it was as if they wanted to create a French restaurant, but had never actually eaten french cuisine. The chocolate cake dessert was particularly disgusting with some strange gelatinous layer on top. Sumo is not even worth discussing. If the Paradise buffet was open in the evenings (maybe with a few different options available at night to keep it interesting) there would be no issues, but unless you order room service (which is better than the restaurants by far I discovered too late into my stay) you are forced into one of these laughable restaurants and you will have a lackluster evening. On the positive side again the bars are all lovely, serving any cocktails you ask for and they are all delicious. Essentially here I had wonderful days and disappointing evenings. At this hotel you will be in a prime spot and will be looked after by some truly wonderful people. I cannot gush about the staff enough really, especially the ladies taking drinks orders by the pool and on the beach, they worked so hard always with a smile; just fill up at lunchtime and you will be happy. There are some reviews on this site that act as if this hotel is terrible, I find these all to be vastly over exaggerated, the air conditioning works fine, the pool is lovely too. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

This was our first time in Mexico (we’re from the UK) and we loved it here. The room was overlooking the sea and the room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The shower worked well, toilet flushes etc. The bed was huge, the aircon and hairdryer worked. Good lighting and mirrors for getting ready! There was a daily maid service, fresh towels etc. We left our belongings in the room (and by the pool) with no issues and we didn’t hire a safe.
We arrived during the Super Bowl so it was busy and good fun in the lobby bar. We tried lots of cocktails, wines, spirits and beers (and more) during our stay and the staff work non stop (even bringing our drinks to the jacuzzi)! You don’t need to lift a finger. We dined in all of the restaurants where the staff were also hard working and friendly. All of the food choices were varied, tasty and hot and food was available around the clock. There was all types of bread, veg, salad, fruits and cereals. Meats were grilled while you wait (it was quick) and there was fish including a huge sea bass and shrimp on some occasions. When you arrive they give you the list of which restaurants are open on what days so plan them in if you want to visit them all. My personal favourites were the Wok kitchen and fajita stand in the main paradise lounge and the fresh omelettes in the morning.
Sixty’s bar was good for karaoke and dancing. We were really pleased with what we got and the price we paid. We probably drank the price we paid and would definitely stay again. You can party at this hotel but the hotel doesn’t designate itself to party all night kind of vibe here which was good for us as we wanted to catch as much sun as possible. We did pay a beach cleaning fee $40 dollars roughly on arrival. The waves here were huge! We did see an iguana in the hotel garden area too! There is a smoking area with seats at the front of the hotel outside. The other guests were friendly and a mixture of nationalities. There was volleyball in the pool most days and a functional gym.

Dear guest, Thank you so much for your detailed and glowing review! We’re truly delighted to hear that your first visit to Mexico—and to our resort—was such a memorable and enjoyable experience. It’s wonderful to know that you found your room comfortable and well-equipped, and that you felt safe and relaxed throughout your stay. We’re especially pleased that our team was able to make your experience even more special with their attentive service, whether it was at the restaurants, bars, or by the pool and jacuzzi. Your kind words about the food, drink options, and the atmosphere across the resort (from the fun at Sixty’s bar to the peaceful sun-soaked days) mean a lot to us. We’re also glad you appreciated the mix of activities and the balance between fun and relaxation—that’s exactly the kind of experience we strive to offer. Thank you again for choosing Golden Parnassus. We’d be thrilled to welcome you back anytime you’re ready for more sun, sea, and shrimp! Warmest regards, Guest Relations Golden Parnassus All Inclusive Resort & Spa

Golden Parnarsus was a good choice for the most part. Overall food and drinks were good. Bring you own bottles for water and drink refills. The staff was friendly and always helpful. The pool area fills up quickly so get towels at 8:00AM and get your seat. The beach restaurant has great fried chicken, soda, water and other snack foods. Beds are comfortable. Room is modest and a clean place. Gym is small but comprehensive. The staff is gratefully cleaning constantly thought the resort. Specialty restaurants are good. Get additional drinking water from gym or beach restaurant. Return your arm bracelet, room key, and towel key or you will be charged. No clocks on the premise. Check your devise charger for compatibility with Cancun voltage. Restaurant Paradise is not open every night for dinner, just for snacks, so check the schedule which you will receive upon arrival. WIFI is free now. Paradise is open for breakfast and lunch everyday. The only complaint I have about the hotel itself is the architectural design that has all rooms facing an open atrium with views to the lobby from the hallways. All music performances, singing, bar blender noise, talking, laughing bounces off the walls and travels up to the room. With room door closed, you can't escape the sounds as the acoustics are so loud. The outer Paradise patio carries voices, too. The inner patio is quiet and outside of the spa area are the quietest locations. Lagoon room balcony pretty quiet. Recorded and live beach music is primarily rock and loud. But for the noise factor, I would return here as a good deal in an unpretentious setting.

The resort wasn’t horrific however, it’s not a place we’d visit again. There is NO mini bar/refrigerator/coffee pot in the rooms, the hot water comes out as a trickle in the shower and sink, you have to wear a plastic wristband your entire stay which is annoying and uncomfortable. We also were never informed that you need reservations in order to eat at the hibachi grill in the Sumo restaurant. The staff was friendly but not overly helpful. They didn’t go out of their way to meet your every need. From the moment we checked in, we felt like we were on our own to learn the ins and outs of the resort. The safe in our room was broken and worked off and on, the pillows were horrible and lumpy(imagine sleeping on a million separate cotton balls) and the sliding glass doors onto the balcony didn’t close fully due to rust so there was a constant whistle from the wind ALL NIGHT LONG! Overall, it seems like the building needs a complete renovation. Off of the main lobby, there’s a large area marked “shopping center” but only one small gift shop and the prices are insane. There are 5 restaurants for dinner however, they are not all open every night. Only certain ones are open certain nights for instance, the steak house was only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. I recommend also taking your own wash cloths because for some reason, the maid leaves you ZERO wash cloths and when you finally track her down for some, you’ll only get one per day(very inconvenient when there’s TWO people in the room)! We’ve traveled to many resorts up and down the Mexican coast and although the weather was great and we made the best of our vacation, we won’t be staying here again! Luckily we traveled with another couple (our BFFs) because 80% of the resort visitors were retirement age! Definitely NOT the crowd for 20-40 year olds!

We had our flight canceled and the airline sent us to the resort for 1 night. The location is great, the room with a sea view is enchanting. But the structure is simple. Bath towels are only offered if you ask for it at reception (I found this very strange... I had to ask for it at check in and the next day because cleaning staff removed the towels and didn't replace them), there was no minibar in the room and they were only left 2 small bottles of water. The drinks are national and the restaurants have simple dishes. But breakfast has the option of omelettes, waffles and pancakes prepared to order, The service was much better than at the luxury neighbor, Secrets the Vine, where we spent 8 nights.

The hotel is totally old. We had to change the room 2X because it rained pure, even the room on the 4th floor was moldy and musty - but at least no more puddles in the room. The buffet was ok, in the Italian restaurant you were handled in half an hour with a 4 course menu although the hotel was not fully booked. The newly opened specialty restaurant had salmon carpaccio, thick slices that were still frozen in the middle and the tuna was from the freezer. For the money - treat yourself to something else:)

I had booked this resort for a special milestone birthday for my husband but the resort is a total let down. The hotel is very old and outdated. I booked an ocean view room and upon checking in, they gave a room on the 2 nd floor with view of the solar panels and so I asked to be moved to a different room and a higher floor. The phone is the room never worked nor did they fix it after reporting it to the front desk. The food option is awful. The buffet is gross and not very clean in nature. They have a Mexican night and served “Mexican” theme food in the buffet but I would not call that a Mexican food. They offered tacos and that’s pretty much it for Mexican food. I’m vegetarian and so I was looking forward to it and they didn’t even have beans. I’m simple, beans, rice, salsa and tortillas would do it for me but nope, nothing. The only thing worth raving about was the view. Once we were moved to a higher place, the views were spectacular. Room cleaning is savage, they start knocking on the doors before 8am. I mean we are on vacation, why in the world would we want leave that early in the morning. This resort is a joke. They should pay me to stay with and the other way around.

When we arrived the electricity came and went, so the check-in took longer than expected. A craft market set up in the lobby did not look the best, with the cables to illuminate the stalls spread across the floor and connected to the reception. Luckily, he was only there that night. To make matters worse, the electricity went out again when we were in the elevator, leaving us locked in for about 5 minutes. It was little by luck. As for the room, very good, huge comfortable bed, very good size, balcony facing the beach, internet always good, bathroom very good. The room had a large yaccuzzi, for 2 people. As for the meals, I can only say that they were very good, everything, very tasty, varied and without chili. The attention of the waiters was excellent, always attentive to anything that might be needed. The attention of the waiters at the pool and the beach is also very good, always offering you drinks. The pool is not deep, just 1.05 meters, but it is enough to cool off and relax. The beach didn't seem good to me, a lot of sargassum residue on the uncleaned sand, in addition to everything that was constantly arriving from the sea. I don't know whose responsibility it is to clean it, the hotel or the municipal authorities. The truth is that they charged us US$3 per night per person, and I didn't see it reflected. There were 2 mornings when the room was left without running water, but luckily the service was restored during the morning. Some leaks in the lobby area do not give the best image, especially due to the buckets installed to collect the water that comes from the ceiling.

We were allowed to spend 5 days in the Golden Parnassus. It was our first accommodation on our Yucatan tour.
The accommodation we chose deliberately, due to the central location, the white sandy beach and the proximity to the Centro (20 min. by R2 bus to Mercado 28).
The staff welcomed us warmly and it was taken care of every concern directly. The various themed restaurants provided culinary diversity (seafood, Japanese specialties, steakhouse and Mexican delicacies in the buffet restaurant).
The only small review: The hotel is a little old. Nevertheless, everything you need is available. Especially by the pool you meet some Americans who are moving from bar to pool.
We would recommend the hotel for a stay of up to 7 days.:)

Well this was our 7th time visiting the golden Parnassus, and we had such a lovely visit. The weather was perfect, the staff so helpful and cheerful as always, and our meals were delicious (drinks too!) This has never been a swanky, luxury resort. There are some improvements the owner needs to make (better AC in the rooms, elevator repairs, and repaired beach / pool chairs), but for the price and the location - we love this unpretentious, beautiful and friendly resort. We noticed that improvements continue to be made (ceiling fans, new beach towels, and new chairs on decks!) and hope this will continue. We will be back!

There is a government Sanitation tax that you will have to pay for upon arrival. As for expenses when you check out, that would be in case you lost the all inclusive braclet, lost your saftety box key, purchased a romantic dinner, or bottles of specialty wines.
There are more places to choose from in the Cancun area.
