The service and friendliness of the staff were excellent the whole time during our visit. We initially chose Cancun Bay for the price and reviews and were not disappointed. The food quality was good and it’s located in the hotel zone about midway between downtown and the busier tourist/shopping area. That tourist area was rather loud and chaotic so we appreciated the serenity of its location. There’s a bus stop right out front so getting to those locations was easy. The buses run every couple minutes and cost 12 pesos, easy to hop on and off. This is a smaller resort and if your expectations include a massive party, large beach front, water park, lazy river and things like that then this place might not be best for you. If you’re interested in value for your vacation dollars and a clean well run resort with great service, good food and top notch service then we would recommend this place based on our experience. Shout out to Marcos (housekeeping) Rigoroberto and Paty in the dining area and all the bartenders, as they all were excellent.

Lovely hotel, very clean and has a small beach which is lovely also.
Rooms: Decent room had a family suite. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms lots of room, watch your ankles and shins on the wooden bed bases ouch!!! Room cleaned daily hit and miss how many towels you get left, room fridge gets stocked once a day with water and cans of drink, is a coffee machine and cups in the room but take your own sugar and milk from downstairs.
Bars: Barmen all great and never pushy for tips at all but appreciate any but service is great with or without tips.
Pool bar staff: couple of staff walk the beach and pool area all day bringing you drinks and food as required a lovely touch please remember to tip them.
Reception staff: Well grumpy and unfriendly is about all I can say, worst staff in the resort.
Restaurant staff: on the whole lovely and can’t do enough for you, nice to stop and have a chat with them also.
Food: Food is the worst part of this resort, it’s just boring and tasteless mostly. Two weeks breakfast was exactly the same every day. No real Mexican food, didn’t have guacamole once haha no tacos, no empanadas was always some undercooked pork and some chicken in a sauce with beef with onions and peppers but none of it Mexican. The chillis sauces though wow hot hot hot and lovely. We would be booking to come back if the food was better, needs more variety and has to taste better and some Mexican food.
Entertainment : something going on most of the day and the staff are just lovely, Drisdey, Dayana,and the new guy Usiel were just fantastic, full of energy, lovely and friendly and although we had the language barrier always had a good chat and a laugh with them all and they had lots of time for our daughter Ivy, not sure of the supervisors name but what a lovely lovely man.
Daytime entertainment is great but could do with a kids club and some early evening kids entertainment and evening entertainment needs to be a bit longer as it’s mostly 40-45 mins long then that’s it night over. If they improved the food we would be back but until then we won’t

We had the best time at this fabulous all-inclusive. Admittedly we used this hotel as a hub for further travels, spending 5 of our 6 days in Mexico on the islands of Holbox and Mujeres. We purposely wanted a holiday where we had an all inclusive that was quiet and relaxing for our days between travelling, while also giving us easy access to other places we wanted to visit. In that respect Cancun bay was the perfect fit. It is on the edge of the hotel-zone and away from most of the craziness, so it is perfect to unwind. It's small enough that you get to know the staff really well but big enough to have its own section of beach complete with a beach butler service. For us it was the perfect fit.
All the staff were so friendly and went above and beyond to may our stay pleasant and relaxed. Special shout out to the lads at the pool bar ( Alex, Enrique, Jordan, Sammy and Fernando in particular) who were very entertaining and kept the drinks flowing.. Food was good with a nice selection in the buffet restaurant and the poolside restaurant for lunch. I liked the beach area which was quiet and private, also clear of seaweed which meant it was great to swim in. Had some lovely photos on the boardwalks that go out to the sea and there is plenty to see with the boats that come in and out. Plenty of wildlife to observe too with the pelicans and other seabirds that occult this area.
Location wise this hotel is ideal if you want to visit the islands. We travelled to both Mujeres and Holbox with ease. This is something I'd thoroughly recomend. The Mujeres ferry that's is run by Xcaret is only a 10 minute walk from the hotel and it was very fast and efficient . Similarly the central bus station is only 7 minutes taxi ride which gave us access to all laces such as chiquitta and Holbox.
The rooms are functional with a HUGE and comfortable bed as well as air conditioning. It may not be the most modern or well equipped hotel I've stayed in, but for the price I felt it was great value. The room was cleaned daily and was always to a high standard.
Overall we loved this place and we will definitely be back. Mexico and Cancun Bay really have left a lasting impression.

I stayed at Cancun Bay, and the experience was not what we expected—some good things and some not so good.
Let's start with the negative: We were waiting for our room and were given a small apartment (larger than what we booked) with an extremely strong smell of humidity; it was unbearable, and the AC wasn’t working. When we went to the reception to request a room change, the receptionist was annoyed that we wanted to change, although she did make the change. As we left and thanked her, she didn’t respond, showing a very unpleasant attitude. Then, we had to ask for towels on different occasions, and it seemed like the receptionist was either quite resentful or simply didn’t enjoy her job, as she always showed the same unpleasant attitude (unfortunately, I don’t remember her name). In the second room we were given, it was better, but they could improve the cleanliness. The bathroom smelled of smoke or had a smoky odor, and the shower curtain was full of mold. At reception, we had to request pool towels, and unfortunately, we had to go on a tour without towels because they didn’t have any available to give us. Time is limited for tourists. We had a tour with a pickup at 7 a.m., and when we went for breakfast at 6:30 (when the buffet opens), the omelet station wasn’t ready. They told me to wait 10–15 minutes for it to heat up, and when I asked again, it was still not ready, so I only managed to eat fruit and bread as I am vegetarian. The hotel’s activities were very limited. The snack menu was very limited and only available until 6 p.m.
The positives: From front desk, Alejandro did our check in in the morning, he was very friendly. The bartenders: Alejandro, Alexis, and Saulo—excellent people, always willing to help, giving recommendations, and always greeting us with a big smile. The food was delicious most days; as a suggestion, they could offer more variety as the menu was often quite repetitive. In the room, we always had soda, water, and clean towels.
A note to keep in mind: The hotel mainly caters to locals, with about 70%-80% locals and 20%-30% foreigners.

The hotel is ok but I expected a little more from a hotel rated 4.5 on trip advisor.
The room I was given (in suite 200) didn't have a safety box, the minibar made a loud noise, the telephone and the air conditioning didn't work. I complained at the front desk and they called maintenance but there was no way, it was broken and beyond repair. The attached toilet box was leaking badly and I fixed it.
It may be that the other rooms are better or refurbished but this one disappointed me. Then I changed rooms and the one facing the sea was better.
About the restaurants, breakfast was good, with variety and quality. Except the juices. They are all very bad, there is no natural fruit juice. And they are all sweetened. They don't have a themed restaurant but they transform the pool bar into a Japanese restaurant and the beach bar into an Italian or barbecue restaurant. In these restaurants the food is good. Japanese is indeed the best of them.
Lunch and dinner ok, nothing special served.
Drinks are not good, the sparkling wine is too sweet. The next day I asked for a sparkling water with lemon and they brought a non-alcoholic margherita. But the water was salty. A salty lemonade.
The staff is mostly friendly, especially Yamili and Rodolfo, they are always trying to interact. Victor should teach more acqua gym classes :-).
The hotel has good beach and bath towels and sheets.
The location is ok, right on the sand and next to the pier where boats leave for Isla Mujeres. One important thing is they manage to keep two beach areas clean for swimming. On the sides there is a lot of sargassum.
In the end, it is not a luxurious hotel, but it has enough for a guest to rest.

I have just returned from a weeks stay at this lovely hotel
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel super welcome by Alejandro, he really could not have been anymore helpful
All of the staff were amazing but a special mention to Enrique, Hugo, Alex and the Entertainment Manager
The food was good in the buffet resturant but my personal preferences were the Sushi Resturant and Tratoria
The rooms are a little dated but very clean. The beds are super comfy, cleaned every day and towels changed every day
The pool area is great, again very clean and all of the bar staff and waiting staff are super friendly
The beach is small but lovely. We walked along the beach and this is the only hotel where the seaweed is cleared every single day. This really made a huge difference (even the 5 star hotels further along didnt do this)
It is a quiet hotel with not much directly outside but this was perfect for the holiday we wanted
I would highly recommend.

We were initially disappointed because the website made the resort appear a lot bigger than it is, and we were told it was a 5 star resort, we’d say it’s more like a 3 star resort at best, our room was much smaller than expected and run down with a fairly small size TV, we were given a partial ocean view and the music from the pool (and around the resort) was pretty loud most of the day maybe catering to a younger crowd? We were informed that there were only 2 restaurants on site one of which was a buffet and the other which only served dinner which required you to reserve early in the morning or they would not be able to accommodate you. That being said, staff were for the most part friendly and accommodating, we found a restaurant at the pool bar that offered some other meal options through the day and the AC in our room was cool, shower was acceptable and there was a 2nd pool that was quieter. Overall if you go in with a 3 star experience it’s nice enough.

Don't waste your money on this resort. It's very old and you can tell it use to be a hotel. Check in was easy but once we got to our room, we realized we had no bath towels nor wash cloths so I went to from desk to request them, 3 hours later still no towels so again I went to front desk to request them. Our room was very tiny, it had 2 beds and very limited walking space. There were 3 steps leading from beds towards bathroom which had a light there to illuminate them at night which didn't work, so that was hazardous. There was water on the floor in our bathroom which per the maintenance man was coming from the room next to us so the next day instead of finding out where it was actually coming from, they just caulked that area of our bathroom. The beds & pillows were rock hard. We had an ocean view room which was right by the pool out by the beach, well there was construction going on at the pool all day up until 5pm, even on Sunday. The food was terrible, there was only 1 restaurant open which was the buffet, the other one was closed for renovations, not that Expedia website mentioned that. The food catered to the Mexican population. We've been to Mexico 5 other times in the past and stayed at other resorts where the food catered more towards the American side. The only bright spot at this resort were the employees.

This hotel is beautifully situated in the hotel zone of Cancun.
All member of staff are extremely friendly, welcoming and hardworking to ensure you have the best time. They are all a credit to the hotel.
Both swimming pools are immaculate. The pool guy cleans them frequently throughout the day and regularly carries out chemical checks . The management are constantly out in the hotel checking everything is OK and if anything is wrong, they attend to it immediately.
A very nice touch is the poolside and beach waiter service delivering drinks and snacks to your sun bed.
The hotel is spotlessly clean,this includes the beautiful grounds pool and the beach.
Day time and evening entertainment is varied and great fun ! We joined in but it's equally acceptable to watch and enjoy.
Food is presented attractively and of good quality. Always plenty of choices including dishes for vegetarians The a/c in the restaurant makes it enjoyable.
A selection of soft drinks are placed in the room daily ( complimentary) Another lovely touch Cancun Baby offers .
If you are looking for a very friendly hotel to relax by the pool or on the beach,I would highly recommend Cancun bay Resort 😊

Yes the room we had , had a fridge and I think it had a little freezer part, we didn’t use it so I can’t really remember , and we didn’t have a kettle, but there was a keurig that you can get hot water from
There are two seperate buildings. If you’re in the main building, there is a lift but, it can be very confusing at times to use. The pool outside has stairs to get in, no ladders, but the shaded pool inside is only ladders (I think). The pool outside has a ramp also to get into the pool area. The beach area may be difficult to get to though.
In terms of food, your best bet would be the fruit, salad, and bread. There is cereal for breakfast daily as well as a toaster. Some nights, pasta was an option but, not consistently.
There are more places to choose from in the Cancun area.
