Club Med Cancun is celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere and plethora of entertainment options, though some guests find certain areas to be noisy and dated. While the rooms offer impressive views and space, issues with dampness and outdated decor are noted. The hotel's cleanliness and extensive amenities, especially in the Jade section, are highly regarded. However, the value proposition is questioned by guests pointing to the mediocre food and high costs. Its prime location and exemplary service, nevertheless, consistently receive accolades from visitors.

For over 15 years our families have all traveled to Club Med Cancun and stay at the Jade Building. When the children were younger it was for Spring Break, now we're all empty nesters and we still go for our annual winter get-away. The location is perfect, it's at the far end of Cancun, so not in the middle of all of the hustle and very quiet. If you are at Jade you even have a private pool and beach area.

This year, saw many improvements and changes to the overall property including a Water Park with slides and lots of Pickleball courts. We all also thought the food and table wine selection improved from the last few years. Lots of fresh options and never a worry about getting sick from the fresh fruits and veggies.

But honestly what keeps us coming back year over year, is the amazing staff at Jade and the genuine welcome we always receive. Most of the team there have been there for years, Eloy and Jose always greet us with smiles as they get us settled with luggage and into our rooms. Elisio, Ademir, and Erasmus are the best bartenders ever, and the entire pool team is outstanding! Daniel, Jamie, Jesus, and Marco take such good care of everyone at the pool; even on busy days you can count on getting a quick refreshing beverage or a fresh towel. They are even offering Sunrise Yoga with John (he's amazing teacher!) on the lawn twice a week, you can stretch and watch the sun come up over the Gulf of Mexico. It's almost like a private class!

The front desk team led by the extraordinary Resident Manager, Cristel makes check-in/check-out seamless. Brigette, Leonardo (both of them!) Guadalope provide great advice on local and regional adventures and will make onsite reservations for you right there. They are all very understanding and kind, and genuinely want each guest to feel like part of the community. We hold an annual meeting for the Foundation we are all a part of, and the front desk team always goes above and beyond to find a quiet location for us.

The facilities are older, but well kept and extremely clean. The rooms are all brightly colored and the beds/linens well kept. There are also suites available with gorgeous tubs and Gulf views. It's not fancy, but that is part of the charm for us, receiving 5-Star service in a more relaxed atmosphere. Club Med is a great vacation for famlies and adults!

15-21 MARCH 2024 CANCUN TRIPADVISOR.COM REVIEW

View from 1,000 Feet/Meters
I recently returned from my 105th Club Med holiday – this time to wonderful Club Med Cancun Yucatan. This was my 5th visit to this Village over the last 36 years.

As always, a very last minute travel decision and then arrangements – all during Spring Break! What was I thinking? Read on!

But thanks to the AMAZING Management Team in place – even working with me well before my Village Arrival – my trip was as smooth as those made months in advance!

See below for my “GOLD MEDAL AWARDS TO TRULY EXCEPTIONAL Management/GO/GE Team Members.”

Platinum Level Club Med Member Perspective:
While each Club Med Village strives to provide THE VERY BEST GUEST VACATION EXPERIENCE POSSIBLE - AND THEY REALLY DO STRIVE TO DO THIS – after 105 Club Med trips over the last 39 years – you learn that nothing in this world is perfect. NEAR PERFECT IS GOOD ENOUGH!

Arrive with a smile on your Face and positive attitude, and remember that a friendly gesture, and “Hello,” “Good-bye,” “Please,” and ”Thank You” GOES A LONG WAY.

Being Nice, Courteous, and having Good Manners COSTS NOTHING! Also, YOU ATTRACT BEES WITH HONEY, not with Vinegar.

BE GENEROUS WITH TIPS! If you are Blessed enough to afford a Club Med vacation - you certainly can afford a few extra dollars for Tips.

Transportation from Cancun Airport (CUN) and the Village:
Every airline flies to Cancun (CUN). My MIA/CUN flight was a short 65 minutes. I travel V/V (without included Transfers), so had Club Med Traffic Manager Raphael Portugal arrange my transport to the Village. As promised with excellent prior Communications from Planning, Traffic, and Guest Relations, a Club Med Representative was waiting for me outside the Airport Exit at the Margaritaville Bar. Because of the Village’s exceptional location in Cancun, it is a very short drive from the airport – all for $60 US Round-trip (Not including Tips).

“EASY ARRIVAL” Early Check-In
I completed the On-Line Form before Departure – and printed out confirmation of my 6,000 Peso Credit Card Hold. I used the Credit Card I use for all International Expenses (no FX Charges). This process established a customary Credit Card Hold and Opened a Village Expense Account. Never had to pull out my Credit Card again the entire trip!

Village Layout:
The CM Cancun Village is built on the southern tip of Cancun and is totally surrounded by beautiful water. As the very first development – it has the LARGEST and BEST PIECE of real estate in Cancun. To the North is the Caribbean Sea with a long sand beach with plenty of chaise lounges and Palapa sun protection; to the East is the reef with portions literally coming up to the land for great Snorkeling; to the South is the calmer portion of the Caribbean Sea – more like a Bay – with Water Sports, Snorkeling, and Diving Departures; the Cancun Lagoon is to the West.

The Village is in the shape of a letter “U” resting on its side and facing West– with the above Cancun Lagoon in the middle. The Village Square (Reception and Offices, Theater, Main Dining Room, Pool, Boutique, and ALL Village Services and Operations) is located at the very Northeast Corner along the beach. From there, all ten Guest Room Buildings, Taco Arte Annex Restaurant, Sport Venues, etc. takes advantage of the Sea, Lagoon, and rest of the amazing location along the sides of the “U”.

Golf Cart Buggies often depart from Reception to transport everyone along the Eastern and Southern side of the “U”. A very beautiful ride. If you don’t want to wait, you can walk to burn-off calories!

Preferred Accommodations:
IT IS ALL ABOUT LOCATION – as I think most of the “Superior” rooms in eight (of the ten) buildings are identical, nice, clean and comfortable, and come equipped with a Balcony, a bathroom with double sinks, marvelous Rain Shower, separate W/C, plenty of closet space, electronic bracelet safe for valuables, sunken seating area, and a small refrigerator.

The Village is quite large, so I requested to Planning Manager Carlos Sanchez – even during extremely busy Spring Break and in the last minute - a room assignment in a Building near the Village Square. My favorites are Turquesa (4000) or Topacio (3000). PERFECTO!

Throughout the entire Village, EVEN room numbers face the Ocean; ODD number rooms face the Lagoon. “X0XX” is Ground Floor; “X1XX” second floor, “X2XX” third floor, etc. 3009 - my Ground Floor Lagoon View room was well-located. I THOUGHT I WAS STAYING IN A LARGE STATEROOM ON A YACHT FLOATING ON THE WATER. AWESOME!

Note: Never be shy to call Reception (I had the Benefit of Guest Relations) to let them know if something in your room is not working. THE GOAL IS YOUR SAFETY AND COMFORT. My requests were quickly addressed.

Main Soluna Bar:

The ever-important Soluna Main Bar is centrally located near the Beach, Main Pool Deck, Outdoor Entertainment Venue, and Reception. After the Evening Show/Entertainment, it also serves as the Night Club for Crazy Signs and Dancing.

Restaurants Selection:
There are THREE RESTAURANTS serving DELICIOUS food almost around the clock – and Las Velas Bar/Crepari/Snack Bar on the Main Pool Deck. Each provides a wide selection, including Baby and Kid-Friendly food (although, what a wonderful opportunity to expand a Child’s palate!) PACE YOURSELF! You will never be hungry!

PLEASE REMEMBER TO ALWAYS INVITE TWO GO’s TO JOIN YOU FOR YOUR MEALS! All have an infinite amount of wonderful stories AND LAUGHS to share:

1.La Hacienda Restaurant – Main Buffet Restaurant located on a Second Floor OVER the Village Square serving Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. It has the largest food selection, with many unique and interesting Dining Rooms surrounding the Buffet area. DON’T GET LOST when you get up from your table seeking more DELICIOUS food! Take note which Dining Room you are in. SERIOUSLY!

2.Taco Arte Restaurant and Bar – A thatched roof “Palapa” Restaurant built over the water on the quiet portion of the Caribbean Sea between the Jade and AguaMarina buildings. Taco Arte has a Mexican-themed Buffet for Breakfast and Lunch, and for Dinner converts to a Limited Reservation Sit-Down Dinner Restaurant. Note: Dinner no longer has a Menu. Each night the Chef prepares different delicious and beautifully served Starters, Mains, and Desserts, all “Family Style.” This is a GREAT concept for a Family Village! It allows children to easily point and choose what they would like to try from the large plates before them. While the DELICIOUS Breakfast and Lunch Buffet is smaller than La Hacienda Restaurant – AL FRESCO DINING SITTING OVER THE SEA IS THE BEST! All my Breakfasts, Lunches, and Reservation Dinners were literally hours long. I closed Taco Arte for each meal. PURE BLISS AND DELICIOUS! THANK YOU TACO ARTE MANAGERS ASHISH AND PAVEL, CHEFS, AND THE CARIBBEAN SEA!

Dinner Reservations – and they are limited, were made for me by Guest Relations up to two days in advance. Ask Reception how they are made. In the past they were made on the Club Med Cancun APP. I hosted a large Group (12 Guests) three separate nights. My Group dinners were served “Ala Carte” style – with the identical food served “Family Style.” CM CANCUN OVERALL RESTAURANT MANAGER CARLOS SIERRA, AND TACO ARTE RESTAURANT MANAGERS ASHISH AND PAVEL WERE AMAZING. AND THAT IS A GROSS UNDERSTATEMENT. I WAS TREATED BETTER THAN A KING! THANK YOU! TRULY! Caution: While Children are invited, the two hour dinner may test a child’s patience.

3.La Estancia Restaurant (Argentinian Steakhouse) – Is a Limited Reservation Sit-Down Dinner (and late night snacks until Midnight) venue located steps from Reception. Like Taco Arte, I hosted a large Group (12 Guests) two separate nights – both Al Fresco. The first meal was at the most amazing location overlooking the Beach, Caribbean Sea, the Entire Cancun Strip, and full moon. AT BOTH DINNERS, I HAD THE BEST STEAK EVER (and I have eaten in some of the finest Steakhouses). Once again, CM CANCUN OVERALL RESTAURANT MANAGER CARLOS SIERRA, AND LA ESTANCIA RESTAURANT MANAGERS ALICIA AND ARTURO WERE AMAZING. AND THAT IS A GROSS UNDERSTATEMENT. I WAS TREATED BETTER THAN A KING! THANK YOU! TRULY! Caution: While Children are invited, the two hour dinner may test a child’s patience.

Sports:
1.SAILING – I actually learned how to Sail at Cancun 36 years ago – SO AM CONSIDERED A SERIOUS SAILOR (I also teach Sailing). I had a great time with the Wonderful Sailing Team GO’s OBED (Mgr.), TARIK, DORIAN, ABSCES, AND PABLO. IT WAS WONDERFUL TO SEE SUCH A GLOBALLY AND RELIGIOUSLY DIVERSE GROUP OF GO’S OPERATING SO WELL TOGETHER. THE TEAM WAS A WELL-FUNCTIONING UNITED NATIONS! IT WAS EVEN MORE AMAZING TO HOST THEM FOR MULTIPLE DINNERS AT THE ABOVE RESTAURANTS. EACH GO MORE INTERESTING THAN THE NEXT! I WANTED TO ADOPT EACH ONE – BUT WILL KIDNAP THEM TO CLUB MED TURKOISE INSTEAD! Oh, yes I did get to Sail the eight Hobie Waves. Also, helped teach Sailing to a Beginner and took Day Pass Guests out for rides. I HAD FUN! I LOVE TO SAIL WHEREVER I CAN! Unfortunately, the Sailing Zone has been slightly reduced to make way for the ever increasing number of annoying little power-boat Excursions. At one point I counted 30 of them, ready to get in the way of Sailing. AARGH! Unfortunately, CM Cancun must share the best Caribbean Sea location in Cancun with everyone else. If your feet are sensitive to walking on rocks and stones, bring water shoes. There are a few SUP’s and many Kayaks to use. Hobie 16’s and Windsurfing is no longer being offered as a Water Sport. However, North America/Caribbean Zone Water Sports Manager Franz is introducing a new Hand-Held Sailing “Wing” to replace Windsurfing and mimic Kite-Boarding. GO Tarik was busy trying to learn how to use it after hours. HaHa!

2.CIRCUS - While I do not participate, a dear friend who was unable to come on this trip is an extremely serious and talented Flyer. Late one afternoon I headed over to the Island where the Circus Rig is located - next to the Amatista (1000) building. Circus Team GO’s Bella, Edgar, Kyle, Chucho, and Coco let me take some wonderful pics of the Team to send to my buddy.

3.TENNIS - While I also do not play Tennis (I come from an intimidating Professional Tennis Family) - I do know the Great Cancun Tennis Manager and Pro JAVI (a Legend in Cancun) - primarily through both my Buddies who are serious Tennis players. JAVI joined my large Group for Dinner every night. The conversations were so funny that we closed both Restaurants every meal. From my understanding, all Cancun Tennis Pros are skilled Instructors – and have many repeat GM’s coming specifically for their training. The Ultimate Compliment.

Ambiance:
There is a wonderful Mexican infused Club Med Vibe wherever you go in the Village. Everyone has a smile on their faces – even the plentiful Iguanas! I expected this from Guests on holiday – but, all of the Management and GO/GE Staff did as well. SIMPLY PUT – SUCH NICE PEOPLE!

I am known to search out and find the best “Secret” locations in any Club Med Village I visit:
1.The Cancun “Riviera” - The long paver walkway from Reception to the Topachio (3000) Building along the Beach reminds me of the beautiful Promenades along the French, Spanish, Italian, and Croatian Riviera(s). Yes, I have been to all – I AM BLESSED! In Cancun I always make it a point to stroll the entire length. In Europe, people are wearing their finest; In Cancun I am usually in a wet bathing suit and T-shirt.
2. Best Sunset Location – The Bar at the Taco Arte Annex Restaurant. Enjoy a perfect Sunset over the Caribbean Sea while sipping on your favorite cocktail. My favorite is a hot Cappuccino with two shots of Baileys for sweetness. OK – three shots! Don’t forget your camera! If you cannot make it to Taco Arte – you can view the Sunset from the Main Pool Deck.

GOLD MEDAL AWARDS TO TRULY EXCEPTIONAL Management/GO/GE Team Members :
1. CARLOS SANCHEZ (Planning Manager) - an old friend from Club Med Turkoise (2018/2019) who was my main Village Contact before my arrival, and placed me IN THE BEST ROOM IMAGINABLE!
2. THE ENTIRE GUEST RELATIONS TEAM OF JULIA (MANAGER), ANDRE’, JENNIFER, AND JERSEY! All were MAGICAL in Warmly Welcoming me to CM Cancun, solving challenges, fulfilling requests “above and beyond the call of duty,” always with big smiles on their faces.
3. CARLOS SIERRA (OVERALL RESTAURANT MANAGER) – who fulfilled my challenging Annex Restaurant requests, always placing my large Group at the Best Tables in the House, switching “Family Style” service to “Ala Carte,” and just when I thought he would murder me – had the Chef serve his famous Foie Gras to my 12 Guests! I HAVE SELDOM MET A MANAGER WHOSE SOLE PURPOSE WAS TO PLEASE. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
4. THE ENTIRE SAILING TEAM OF OBED, TARIK, DORIAN, ABSCES, AND PABLO. To repeat from above, IT WAS WONDERFUL TO SEE SUCH A GLOBALLY AND RELIGIOUSLY DIVERSE GROUP OF GO’S OPERATING SO WELL TOGETHER. THE TEAM WAS A WELL-FUNCTIONING UNITED NATIONS! I WANTED TO ADOPT EACH ONE – BUT WILL KIDNAP THEM TO CLUB MED TURKOISE INSTEAD!
5. ASHISH AND PAVEL (Taco Arte Restaurant Managers) – Amazing handling my large Group.
6. ALICIA AND ARTURO (La Estancia Restaurant Managers) – Also Amazing handling my large Group.
7. RAPHAEL PORTUGAL (Traffic Manager) – who so clearly communicated Transportation Instructions from CUN to the Village to ensure my Safety and Comfort.
8. ELIZABETH (Room Division Manager) – who was just lovely and quickly handled some Friend’s room challenges.
9. BIANCA CAPONI (Assistant CDV). I cannot wait for her Arrival to Club Med Turkoise as Interim CDV! Welcome Aboard!
10. AND ALL THE CHEFS PREPARING THE ENDLESS DELICIOUS MEALS!

Chris Keeley/”Hammer” (North America/Carribean Zone Human Resources Manager) – Please take note of all the names above. I hope you will consider reassigning all of Cancun’s EXCEPTIONAL Staff to the Club Med Turkoise Village very soon!

In Conclusion:
I HAD AN AMAZING # 5 CANCUN HOLIDAY! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO MADE THIS HAPPEN.

While visiting Club Med Villages – I work to make the Team there as happy as they always make me. Based on the Nickname I was given (No, it was not “Pain in the A….”) – MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Club Med Cancun was a pleasant surprise. Our kids are grown so we were somewhat hesitant about staying in a family-oriented resort. Indeed there were plenty of small kids not always behaving their best. However, the resort is large and we stayed in the central 6000 block of rooms (Onice) which was distant from the family hotels on each end of the resort. Also, one of the dining rooms in the Hacienda restaurant is dedicated to adults only. Consequently, we enjoyed encountering many the young GMs knowing that there was plenty of space for all ages.
We greatly enjoyed the sport activities including Pickleball, sailing, and snorkeling. The offshore area dedicated to sailing is smaller than at Turkoise and Columbus. However it is protected from direct winds by a breakwater, so we found the waves smaller and easier to manage. The Pickleball courts are in perfect condition and they provide daily morning instruction at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced level. Later they hold matches to test your new skills. The snorkelling is excellent. I encountered more species than seen at other resorts, including a spotted eagle ray, rainbow parrot fish, butterfly fish, barracuda, and needle fish. You can reach the reef by just walking from shore which is very quick and convenient. The snorkeling equipment leaves much to be desired, so pack your own equipment from home. The masks leak and they never seem to have the correct size of flippers. I brought my fins from home, but my husband was out of luck twice even though he wears an average size 10 mens. I witnessed two other people being denied fins also.
The food was excellent by our standards: so many satisfying choices. We sampled pretty much every option but never suffered any stomach issues. They make bottled water available throughout the resort so we never felt parched.
They have a high level of security on the beach where non members can walk in. Some vendors approached us but they behaved very politely and took no for an answer.
All in all, Club Med Cancun suited two 50-something adults perfectly even though we did not stay in the exclusive Jade resort. We hope to return and will recommend Club Med Cancun highly even to adults without children.

My worst experience at club med.
Arrival in the evening at 10pm in our room we discover that there is a damage of the water to the ceiling with mold and drops that fall pot partly on the bed. The smell of humidity is also very strong and unpleasant.

We will see the reception the next morning to report the problem and request a solution such as a change of room. The man at the front desk tells us that he will bring a technician in the morning and asks us to come back at 12 noon to see what we can do.
We come back after lunch and this time we run into a woman.
The latter does not seem to be aware of the situation.
She tells us that she cannot change our room, the hotel is “complete” but that it will be possible only the next day, specifying in the same building. At that moment we perceive that the club med does not wish to upgrade us in another building.
She tells us that she will bring a technician and have a dehumidifier put in in the afternoon.

We return to the room in the late afternoon and nothing was done. So we come back to the reception for the 3rd time and ask to see a manager.
Even speech no one seems to know and no one did anything. The latter still brings in a technician who passes a sponge on the ceiling and installs the dehumidifier.

No commercial gestures are also offered.

A second bedroom is proposed. The problem of humidity is no longer there. Nevertheless, the bathroom spots do not work and drops fall from them. The dressing room handles are broken.
Rooms are made around 3:30 pm, if you want to enjoy a clean room during the day it is complicated.

The chef is invisible we haven’t seen him all week...certainly to avoid facing customer remarks.

He asked us for commercial compensation.
The management offered us (thanks to our suggestion) to be invited to the restaurant “la bodega” which offers premium dishes.
Last surprise on arrival they served us the family dish FREE.

At the height of history the 1st room was certainly rebooked in the same condition as we had it.

We spent 2 weeks of happiness, not only thanks to the setting, comfort of the rooms, cleanliness and food, as well as the usual Club Med atmosphere (we like it or not), but above all thanks to the team led by Abdel. This is what makes and enlivens a whole village, we can have an enchanting setting, if the team does not follow, the holidays are not successful. And for once, the weeks of December 9-23, 2023 were exceptional, we often do Club Med and we have to admit that our 2023 trip was enchanting. Samarun always takes care of the GMs (he has the charisma of a future village chief without hesitation and hands down - neat, charming, attentive - what a mistake if he did not have this position), Emmanuel in charge of sports who was also adorable, close to the GMs, in an outstanding mood, and who led his team masterfully, without forgetting his skills on stage, the sailing team (Obed, Tarik, Manuel, Pablo) that we thank from the bottom of our hearts for their welcome, advice, support, jokes, funny meals, and so on and the best, a special mention for Tarik (Mr. Safety) and his keen eye on the water (which will quickly progress without a doubt, not only for his sailing skills but also because he is also attentive to the GMs in an impressive way that must be mentioned, always taking care of himself), Mr Pijama who can now be renamed Mr Kiwi (we let's let you explain...), Serge Mini Club who gave us a memorable welcome and which was the trigger for the start of our stay despite the gloomy weather, Christie at the reception always radiant, Bruno at the dive who always has a smile, without forget all the GEs who delighted us at the restaurant, Gaby for her fresh fruit juice in the morning (crazy stuff because you choose your fruit!), the GEs who repaired our French window in no time (we barely had time to get to our room, that's service!!), and everyone we forgot.
To return to the setting: it is enchanting, the beach is cleaned every morning (huge tip of the hat), the long club (you walk, it's cool otherwise you gain weight!), the 2 swimming pools (with the turquoise sea, hardly need the swimming pool for us), very comfortable rooms, impeccable cleaning every day, beds set up differently every day (hats off to Manuel our housekeeper even if you regularly forgot our soap, no problem we asked you 😉), a plot of land volleyball on the beach where I was able to play some great games.

Basically, we feel at ease upon arrival. THANKS !

Club Med Cancún offers a contrasting experience, with undeniable strengths but also shortcomings that can weigh on an extended stay.

✅ The positives

A paradise for children: The Kids Club is a real asset, with G.O.s invested, full of energy and passionate about their profession. Younger guests will find a wide range of activities to suit their needs.

Sports for everyone: Snorkeling, volleyball, basketball, yoga, HIIT, sailing... Adults also have something to let off steam, supervised by motivating and caring coaches.

An exceptional setting: With two beaches with translucent waters and fine sand, the location is ideal for an exotic stay.

Possible excursions: For those who want to explore the region, outings are offered (but at what price... see below).

❌ The negatives

Overpriced excursions: Count about 1000€ for 1 day and a half of visit for 2 adults and 2 children. An exorbitant price that pushes to look for alternatives outside the Club.

Disappointing food: Unfortunately, the restaurant is more like a canteen than a high-end buffet. Fat, repetitive dishes without much flavor... We expect better from a stay at this price.

Medium room comfort: Uncomfortable bedding, aging rooms... It’s not a trivial detail when you spend 8 to 10 nights.

Unequal service: Some of the staff are adorable, others significantly less, which gives a sometimes frustrating experience.

🎯 Verdict

If you are travelling without children, go your way: at this fare, there are much better options.
However, if you come with your family, Club Med Cancún is a good choice thanks to the activities and facilities suitable for children. But prepare for average food and limited room comfort – both of which, over a long stay, can weigh on the overall experience.

We had a wonderful family vacation over the 2024 Christmas holidays! The staff worked hard to make things special for the holidays, with special food, parties, decorations and activities. We are big fans of Club Med because there is something for everyone to do, and we can be active, take sports lessons, and try things we've never done before.

Some specifics:
- The beach here is amazing! Some other parts in Cancun get lots of seaweed and have brown water, but the water here is beautiful blue and white sandy beaches.
- The resort was very crowded due to the holiday, but even at capacity there was still plenty of food, plenty of places to sit and relax, plenty of space in the classes. We had to practice our patience a bit with all the little kids running around making noise, but we talked to some staff and it isn't usually like that, it's just this holiday week. Once we discovered that we could eat in peace at the Taco Arte restaurant instead of the chaos of the main Hacienda restaurant, we enjoyed meals thoroughly. We also learned to time our dinners later to avoid the crush of young families between 6 and 7:30.
- Our room in Ónice was very convenient to everything.
- So much fresh guacamole, yum!
- The grounds staff did an amazing job every day setting up and taking down stages and buffets, cleaning up after rain, cleaning up confetti after parties, keeping fresh towels supplied, picking up glasses left all over the property, etc. Kudos to them!
- We really enjoyed taking pickleball lessons and being introduced to that sport. The GO's at Pickleball taught us a lot!
- I especially want to call out Ossine at the circus. He went out of his way on 2 separate days to accommodate our family and give us special attention and lessons in bungee and trapeze. All four of us tried new things and accomplished new skills. He was encouraging and gracious. Thank you Ossine for teaching us about circus and about Morocco!
- Another GO who helped make our trip special was Mr. Pajama at archery. His enthusiasm was contagious when we made a good shot, and he was very patient when arrows went astray. We enjoyed hanging out with him!
- Finally a shout out to Isaac at the dive shop. He was friendly, accommodating and knowledgable, and helped my husband who hadn't been scuba diving in years to go on a dive with our teenage son.

Another Club Med success!

I'll start this review by saying we just booked Club Med Cancun for another visit to celebrate our anniversary. We did enjoy our stay but it wasn't perfect. The location is perfect, the vibe is relaxing and fun, the GO's are very friendly, and the grounds are immaculately clean.

We booked 2 Deluxe Family Suites in the Aguamarina Building. Our check-in wasn't smooth at all. There was confusion about one card being used for both rooms but we wanted to use two cards. Then we couldn't get premium wifi because all the codes were used for the day. Finally, only my husband was set up to make purchases at the resort.

Our room was well-appointed and had a lovely view but it had an incredibly musty smell and our shower head barely had any water pressure. During the stay it was like pulling teeth to get the Aguamarina staff to help with issues. We worked on the musty smell by always running the AC at a low temp and used the hand held shower head rather than the rainfall.

We enjoyed almost all of the food but I will have to agree with others my sister visited the year before and she confirmed the quality of food was less than her last visit.

The drinks are the worst thing about the resort. The "top shelf" liquor is top shelf from the early 2000s. Stoli, Bacardi, Sauza, etc. Most drinks I ordered were pretty bad. I ended up ordering a non-alcoholic kids drink with a shot of rum on the size for the entirety of our stay. The wine at dinners was fine for us I'm not opposed to house wine and we always knew we could go purchase a better bottle if needed.

I wish some of the resort policies could be updated to fit with current trends. Having pool card towels that you need to switch out every time is inconvenient. You either get towels the night before and have to carry them around or go to the towel stand before you can find a seat anywhere. I also didn't appreciate that we asked for a late checkout and were told to come back and check the night before departure. Then the night before departure we were told no because someone else would be checking in. Why not just say yes or no from the start?

For our upcoming stay we decided to give the Jade section a try so I'm looking forward to the comparison of our stays.

Traveling in mid-September, things were pretty quiet in the resort. The temperatures were in the 90s with heat index near 100. I found the room air conditioning comfortable but some may need to request a fan during the hottest months. Beach towels, heavy bath towels and wash cloths were in abundance and no need to pack them.

The tennis and pickleball surfaces are in excellent repair & there were never more than 1/2 of the courts being used. The gym has a.c., db's to 65s, squat racks, cable machine and lots of cardio equip. I did pool, ocean and HIIT classes suitable for any fitness level. Beach volleyball was active and the beach and resort entertainment was lively. I enjoyed the snorkeling and sailing and the lifeguards everywhere were alert.

The food was surprisingly good and varied and worth the price of the resort by itself. Catching the public bus to downtown Cancún ($1 each way) was a short walk across the beach to the Westin next door.

All of the staff were attentive and efficient, and the admin team was frequently checking on us to be sure all of our needs were met. Several of the staff asked to join us at times in the dining rooms and it was nice to get to know them.

I've been to all-inclusives throughout the Caribbean and this was the least expensive and, by far, the best overall value. The rooms were huge and the promotion allowing individuals to travel without any kind of surcharge was terrific. My adult son was able to have a room to himself at half the price of the room for my wife and me. We were close enough for him to go clubbing in downtown Cancún a couple of nights. Club Med itself isn't really a college Spring Break kind of party place (thankfully).
We took the Express Shuttle from downtown Cancún to Playa del Carmen ($3 each way) for one day but it really wasn't worth leaving the resort. You can do the usual excursions through the resort but we've done those before and we just enjoyed the good food, drinks, service, sports, pool & beach at the resort. I had a number of traditional Mexican dishes in the restaurant including chilaquiles, pazole with habañero salsa along with ceviche, sushi, shrimp, octopus, calamares and never had a GI issue. They had giant bottles of purified water everywhere in the resort replenishing them often. There are big bottles of purified water in your room and those are replaced as they are used. Staff are constantly sanitizing surfaces.
Overall, a terrific place for solo or group travel

This was my third time at Cancun Club Med in five years and sadly it might be my last. I am a pretty easy-going traveler, but the standard of service has just gone downhill. Across the board we saw a staff shortage that affected the trip at all levels. Most frustrating was the shortage of people working at the restaurants. Dinners became a challenge nightly. If you arrived halfway through the dinner window, you found limited dishes, no glassware, dirty tables and floors, and not enough staff to get them turned for new guests arriving to eat. Mostly we bussed our own table to have somewhere to sit, or had to go request a wipe-down, we almost always had to go find water to drink, using paper coffee cups. No one ever swept the floors and it was literally gross having to sit down amidst the food disaster that results from families with young kids. (And I’m not hating on the families, but the floor mess is considerable.) I also have to add, seeing two or sometimes three GOs standing at the top of the stairs ‘greeting’ guests when they walk in to eat, but then having to go clean our own table, was annoying.

Also noted was a lack of staff who spoke English, a limited number of GOs, and a general lack of follow-up on requests made at the front desk or with staff. Four different requests from my group never had follow-up. And I have no criticism of anyone who worked at the resort. Everyone was very nice and as accommodating as they could be, considering the staff shortage. It is not their fault Club Med does not hire enough people. I know there is a big renovation coming in 2025 so I do not know if the downgraded staff has to do with management just not bothering while they wait for work to begin.

As far as the location goes, it is one of my favorites related to all the potential activities they have on site. Good snorkeling directly from the property is hard to find. The only limitation here is that the weather really affects what you can do. I have been at this resort in December, January and March, and all three times we had more days of snorkeling and kayaks closed than open due to high winds. I don’t know if the weather is becoming more of an issue, but on my first visit here, even if it was too windy to snorkel, we could often still kayak or paddleboard as the wind was more limited in the kayak area. On this most recent trip, everything was equally shut down and I don’t know if the rules for closure have changed?

Summary – a great location with potential for a fabulous holiday, but weather and current poor staffing takes this location off my travel list.

Hi There, The room I stayed both times was Aquamarina the family area. The rooms had 2 single beds in 1 room the kids room and the the other bed was 2 single bed put together to make a king and it was very comfortable. We stayed on the second floor but there are elevators in that building so it was perfect. I hope that helps
