My family and I are staying here June 21-27, all of us know what is going on with COVID, Westin has just opened up again. There are maybe 6 - 10 other rooms booked, this resort is basically empty, it’s like having the whole resort to yourself, it is AWESOME!!!
The staff at the Westin have protocols in place, temperature checks, sanitizer everywhere, staff wiping everything down everyday, everyone wearing masks inside. These are the new commons for now, staff are working hard to make sure you are safe and stay healthy.
This has been the most relaxing vacation ever, due to not a lot of patrons at the moment. Granted some activities are not available but it’s not a biggie for us.
All the staff have been so accommodating and gracious from check in to bellhops, wait staff and cooks and we can’t forget the Mgrs.
First the concierge they are so wonderful helping us try to find activities since some attractions are not open (great job) like have your own personal agent.
Big shout out to Leonel, Juan Herrera, Fernando and Humberto our waiters and Carlo the captain that made everything possible. Breakfast was over but at 1pm my kids wanted breakfast and the staff made pancakes and chillaqulles And eggs. Kudos to Edgar the cook for making us tacos for dinner even tho they were not on the menu since it is limited. Great job by the F&B Mgr. Israel Juárez makes great Starbucks Lol.
Also Rene in the deli is so gracious and welcoming. Great job by all the staff!!!!
If you are looking for a relaxing and personalized vacation come to Cancun and stay at the Westin Resort and Spa, it’s the staff that sets them a step above!!
Thanks again for a wonderful stay
Keep up the great work you are doing

I was impressed from the moment I walked in over the mat designed to clean the bottom of my shoes. My temperature was checked and I was handed some hand sanitizer. The hotel seemed empty, not a lot of staff or guests. We stayed in a 2 bedroom oceanfront condo that was very comfortable for the week. The Covid preventative procedures did not allow for any employee to enter the room all week. When we needed something, bottled water, cooking equipment, towels, they were delivered to our room wrapped in plastic. All employees wore masks, and we were required to wear them when we walked through the public areas of the hotel. Poolside, chairs were spaced well apart. Pool towels were also wrapped in plastic. When someone would leave their chair for the day, the chair was cleaned. Guests kept their distance. Two restaurants were open, we could have lunch and drinks delivered poolside. I felt the beds were comfortable and had no problem sleeping to the sounds of the waves crashing on the beach. The beach in this area has a lot of seaweed. I saw staff raking it up, but it would return the next day. The sand is as soft as white flour, a joy to sink your toes into. There isn't anywhere to walk to, the resort is kind of isolated. You'll be using cabs or a rental car like we did. Parking is free. The WIFI was excellent, this is a good spot to "work from home". I saw some guests doing exactly that! Although there are grocery deliveries, we went to Walmart to buy our groceries for the week. There is a bus that runs to Walmart. The bus stop is right outside the resort. Buses are plentliful, but we didn't want to risk exposure and stayed safely in our rental car. The resort is very easy driving distance from the airport. The roads are excellent.

The Westin is at the southern most end of the Hotel Zone, so you will need to either take the bus or a taxi to get to most of the restaurants/shops in the zone. The bus is super easy and very cheap, either 12 pesos per person or $1. The hotel is very clean and everyone on the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The length of the hotel allows it to have multiple pools and a large amount of beach chairs. No need to rush out at 6am to save a seat.
I was not aware before we went but you absolutely cannot drink any water except for bottled when you get there. You can wash/shower with the water but even the locals drink only bottled (also bottled for teeth brushing etc). The hotel provides 2 large bottles per day in your room and they are available everywhere. All the restaurants only use bottled and the ice they use has been made purified so you don't need to worry about that at all.
The only con is that since the hotel is very reasonably priced, you will get some individuals who do not understand the concept of "other people" at the pool/beach or at 3-4 am when they get back from the clubs. 95% of the other guests are just fine, it's a small percentage who are annoying.
Actually one other knock - be aware that the concierge is going to try and sell you a timeshare every time you talk to them. We had to say no about 10 times but it wasn't too bad. Just be aware it's going to happen.
So in summation, good hotel that is very clean, friendly, and has a fantastic beach.

Beautiful location reside right on the Caribbean aqua blue water beach. Big resort with onsite food/resturant choices, big concierge team, health and spa amenities and access to a local public transportation. I am a loyal Marriott BonVoy member since 2004 i have a sincere obligation to provide my feedback to the Marriott management and to my consumer fellows who are/wants to spend their hard earn $$ to their vacation. Hotel infrastructure and rooms have been suffering from previous hurricane damages, hotel rooms are out dated and not kept up with best cleaning practices you expect from a high price Marriott brand in this case would be Westin Resort and Spa Cancun. Please make sure that your rooms are clean and free of mold, free of filth on the floors, free of dirt, ask for polish mirrors and secure WiFI router and wiring around the room, not to mentioned dripping water and plaster from hallways and hotel ceiling. Biggest hazard beside mold, dripping water and plaster is their ineffective glass doors sensors around the hotel that can sandwich you any given time if you are not careful enough. This is what I experienced during my stay, hotel staff was nice and very helpful. Please see my pictures and make your own judgment.

Dear Razeenkhan, Thank you for your loyalty as a valued Bonvoy Member and for allowing us to host during your holidays. Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and we sincerely apologize for falling short of meeting your expectations. We truly appreciate your comments and points as it helps us to focus on any opportunity area arising and be able to fix it and keep improving our services. We would like to share, that we have been working on a long-term project for renovations to update all our facilities. Unfortunately, this a work in progress, due to permits and regulations, we are only halfway through the job. Although we have been working very hard on this renovation process, unfortunately, the rains experienced during your stay were atypical for the date, which was not anticipated for this part of the year. Please accept our most sincere apologies for any situation that may have affected your satisfaction and relaxing trip. Once again, we apologize if your experience at the Westin Resort & Spa Cancun, was not as relaxing and renewing as we strive to provide, and we hope you give us a second opportunity to host you in the future and reinstate your trust in our services. The beach on this place is great, the pool is ok, but the food was really awful it felt like the food on an all inclusive hotel but with really high prices (Ritz kind), which made me feel I was scam every time I had to eat.
The structure of the hotel is very dated, so the rooms and floors are too, but the furniture is not bad.
The personnel of the hotel is well trained, with great attitude, but they can do only so much.
The location of the ground floor rooms an the Westin Club side are excellent with direct access to the pool and beach.

The pride and dedication our hotel team takes in providing exceptional customer service to our valued guests speaks strongly to our company’s core values, we are glad to know that our associates contributed on making your experience special and as comfortable as possible. On the other hand, it is with great sadness that we learn from an overall disappointing experience, as it seems that a number of deficiencies were encountered during your stay. It is important to mention that these were very atypical and not reflective of our brand experience. We would like to apologize for the maintenance details experienced in the we would like to share that we have been working with a long-term project for renovations in order to update all our rooms and facilities. We have made progress like the main building, which is the first part that has been completely renovated, as well as the areas nearby and the first building rooms which have been transformed to Villas and studios that are part of a new concept, different from hotel rooms. Please, accept our most sincere apologies for failing in to meet your Food and Beverage expectations. We stayed three nights in January 2020. The property feels a bit dated and the location not walkable to anything really, but the service was excellent.

Pros: Check in was quick. Parking is free and while the lot is small it was never full and felt secure. The beach is gorgeous and the lifeguards were attentive. The main pool is warm (but crowded). Showers available to get sand off before going in the pools or to the rooms. The ocean side view is also gorgeous. The room had a bathtub as well as a shower. The wooden shutters entirely block out sunlight. They are enforcing the use of masks in the hotel. Food in the restaurants was good, and the Starbucks and convenience store are available for carry out. When we showed up at the Sea and Stones restaurant on New Years Eve without reservations, they accommodated us and even let us offer off the regular menu since we weren’t interested in the special event menu - we were traveling with tired kids and very much appreciated the flexibility.

Just the facts: The concierges are helpful but really only suggest Xcaret tours. If you listen to a presentation on Westin Vacations they offer substantial discounts but we weren’t interested in giving up 90 mins of vacation even for the discount.

Cons: My pet peeve is full size beds when a queen would fit. Why not just give us adults queen size beds? You can hear everything from rooms above and the hallway traffic. The elevators are slow and since they are only allowing one family/guest at a time due to Covid we took the emergency stairs a lot - which could really use a coat of paint and better lighting. Due to covid they have removed everything from the room including glasses, pens and notepads.

We enjoyed our time at the Westin Resort & Spa. The staff was incredible - especially Juan (evening waiter - except he was there to serve us breakfast on our last morning!) and Rene. Though many of the amenities were closed, the resort gym (you need an appointment), two pools and two restaurants were open. There were very few guests at the resort, so the staff was very attentive - both to making sure we had everything we wanted to eat and drink, but also to keeping things clean and sanitized.

Wanting a getaway for one last beach vacation for the year, Cancun seemed to check off all of the boxes. Being a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite member and really enjoying other Westin stays, this seemed to be the perfect fit. I did consider some other resorts, such as the JW Marriott, but am so glad I landed up here. While this location may seem "out of the way" compared to the other Westin in Cancun, this particular location allows for easy access to the airport, a quiet, relaxing oasis, and a short (and inexpensive) bus ride into town.

We did arrive quite early, so it was not surprising that our room was not ready. The team pre-checked us in, stored our bags, and offered us the ability to enjoy the pool/beach and get lunch. I will say, it was a bit disappointing that the room I was booked for was still not ready, even at 5pm, the Front Desk team got me into a fabulous room without hesitation.

Our room was extremely clean, and well located, which is a perfect trade off for a bit of a (relaxing) wait by the pool. There was some remodeling taking place at the resort, but this was not a disturbance whatsoever. The entire team throughout the resort did an amazing job with cleanliness and social distancing. I was initially a bit nervous traveling to Mexico in the middle of a pandemic, but I would say that this resort made me feel much safer than any other Marriott hotel I have been in since March 2020. Kudos to them!

As far a F&B goes, the breakfast buffet is expansive, but does get a bit boring if you are there for several days. Don't be afraid to ask for some special stuff though (the eggs on top of the chilaquiles was an excellent suggestion). Special should out to Yazmin and Rene for excellent service each day at breakfast!

For lunch, the pool/beach menu is great with cocktails throughout the day. I don't think we ever waited more than 20 minutes for things to come out! Lorenzo and the rest of the team always provided quick, friendly service, and would always check on us once we flagged them down for our initial order.

For dinner, Sea and Stones (the restaurant beach side) didn't seem too appealing, and we were looking for some authentic options. The concierge desk pointed us to a couple of local spots just before the downtown area (one of which was Los Chachalacos, which we visited twice) for some of the most authentic local food in the Hotel Zone. Just 12 pesos for the short bus ride is all it took for an amazing meal with great value (be sure to check out the spots across the street as well).

We initially thought about taking a tour or excursion, but decided on just spending time at the resort. The amazing activities team always had a fun filled day planned (check the schedule by the towel pickup, and don't miss out on the 3pm event)! Special shout out to Aldo, Guillermo, Ana, and Ivan for a memorable vacation.

We will definitely be back to Cancun, and only if we can get a room at this resort!

We reserved two rooms for the night of October 27, 2020 and only after checkin did we find out that both the pool and beach ( entire area) were closed. This closure extended into the next day. We had called in advance to confirm that they had power and were open/not materially impacted by ZETA. Never were told about the closure - beaches/pools kind of the reason you go to Cancun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wont return due to this misrepresentation.

Dear Hobson111, Thank you for allowing Westin Resort & Spa Cancun to host your most recent vacations, and for taking the time to write a review about your recent experience. Your comments are truly valuable for us, as these allow us to improve our service levels and product Our goal is always to exceed the expectations of our guests by offering memorable experiences. We regret to hear that this has not been the case during your visit to our resort. Unfortunately, Zeta impacted our state as a hurricane our local government ordered to close down the beach as the currents were reaching a very dangerous strength due to the very strong winds. The latter also caused the sand to fly away and much of it was deposited in the pools, putting their integrity at risk and affecting our high standards of cleanliness that we ensure in each and every one of our pools. We hope to have the honor to host you again in the future and provide you with the complete Westin Resort & Spa Cancun experience you deserve. Be well,

We booked a short family getaway in a 2 bedroom unit.
Upon arrival the exterior looked quite basic. Once inside it was spacious, clean and modern.
The suite was lovely, clean and spacious with 2 adjoining balconies facing the non functioning flo rider. I’m not sure why it wasn’t functioning as all pools were open and I don’t see how it was any more of a risk of Covid than the pools or elevators.
The washrooms did not have fans in them but towels were plenty. More lotion would have been helpful.
The staff (front desk, concierge, restaurant and entertainment staff) were all excellent.
They require masks indoors and have hand sanitizers around the property.
They give 2 bottles of water in the room but these should be replenished daily. The bar by the pool would not give water and said it had to be purchased for $6US!
The sports bar has jugs of water and you can ask them to fill your bottle (we always carry our own).
You have to make a reservation for the gym snd they have small water bottles in there. You must wear a mask at all times, even when running on the treadmill. There are wipes to wipe down equipment.
The breakfast buffet is good and has plenty of vegan/gluten free options. $22USpp.
Sports bar has gf and vegan too but the sea and Stones restaurant has limited options but a lovely ocean view.
