We desperately booked a room at the Hotel Rincon del Arco after a truly disastrous stay at another "establishment" and all of this hotels flaws paled in comparison. The powerful shower with instant, constant heat was a blessing. The service that came with the room was prompt and they even provided the personal touch of decorating the room with towel-animals/flowers. While the room was frigidly cold during the winter months, we traveled with a space heater (yes, we checked in a space heater on our flights throughout Mexico in January) and that was enough to keep the small room warm. And though this hotel was further from the zocalo than the other location we fled from I grew to love my daily walks along Real de Guadalupe. The garden was stunning. The breakfast could be better.
Ok we were there for Xmas but the hotel had no heating and I shivered all night. The hotel was pretty but a bit out of town so everything involved a walk. Rooms were spacious and there was a walk-in wardrobe. Laundry service was excellent.
The welcome was very friendly, went down 200$ but no breakfast ticket- in the morning paid 200$ for a rather miserable breakfast. No question if we would like tea, coffee was instant. The choice of quite digusting looking buffet was poor, apart from fruits and sweet granola only beanmash without meat. Even scrambled eggs had meat. In the room it was cold, in the shower water would not drain for 30 min. When we wanted to leave we asked personally 4 (!) times and ring the bell many times so someone would open the door. In the end my husband went shouting loud in the recepcion. This really pissed us off, we left angry. There are many other hotels there...
A little walk outside the centre of town but not more than 10-15 mins walk. We were there in September so the room was a little damp and cold. The hotel itself is very nice and rustique with a lovely garden and the staff wasnhelpful although most do not speak English. Really bad breakfast and the coffe was undrinkable.
We only stayed there for one night because we arrived a day earlier than our friends, but the staff was very nice, they kept our luggage because we also arrived way earlier than the check-in time. The best of this place for me was that it was within walking distance from San Cristobal downtown and the price we paid was more than fair IMHO. The Room was clean (something I really appreciate), the mattress was also in good condition, and the shower was really good. It might be cold though depending on the time of the season you visit San Cristobal. The restaurant at the hotel is average but is great if you are tired and don't want to go outside. It is very easy to get a cab outside the hotel, that makes it extremely convenient.
