The bathrooms and lobby, the furniture was very nice and old.
Was very noisy during the day for a siesta.
Location was really good. Towels could be better.
It is the perfect place if you go to buy and or purchase merchandise.

Lets start with the best thing about this hotel: location. Is only a couple of blocks away from Zocalo and the metro so for the price that is asked, the location is really fabulous.
We booked direct through the hotel website and when we arrived they could not locate our reservation, what is not ideal when you just traveled for more than 12 hours. After a few phone calls (and zero English skills) the receptionist managed to find the reservation. I guess they need a better reservation system!
We first stayed 4 nights in a double room with a window and then we came back later in the week for a few hours (long flight connection ) and stayed in a room with no window, very claustrophobic.
The double rooms are very very small but I guess that’s fine when you spend most of the day outside exploring.
There was one particular very noisy night, but not noise from outside, it was noise from the lobby area. The bathrooms are very decent with nice decoration. The towel quality is very poor thought.
In conclusion, if you’re an explorer on a budget and you’re looking for a location/price match, this is your place. If you’re looking for a bit more of luxury and space, look somewhere else.
Ah, they also have a lovely rooftop area but with the most uncomfortable seats and chairs. There’s lots of potential in this hotel, hopefully they can improve these little issues soon.

I stayed here with my friend. Hotel is near to Historic center. If looking for cheaper and safe hotel near to cathedral then it’s for you. Rooms are just small though cleaned and come s with all amenities as you expect in two star. Staff is really friendly though they don’t know English but willing to help you using google translator. I like their helping hands. Ohh they provides free breakfast for you if you are also friendly with them.

The Hotel is located in the Zocalo district where the locals have there homes and shops. The Hotel appears to be in a seedy area but once you understand the City, this seems normal. The rooms all face the street and an interior courtyard. Unfortunately, there is a bar in the courtyard and the local will drink and talk loud all night and the sounds echo and travel up to your room. In the mornings (7am) you hear the vendors outside shouting for attention! The room we had, had a king bed and there was barely any room for two suitcases. There was no chair to sit down and no table in the room. Pillows were hard and gave you a neck ache in the morning. This Hotel would be ideal for backpackers and younger people, not for seniors!

We arrived on a very early morning flight (7am) with a small baby. We emailed the hotel in advance to ask if it was possible to check-in early. They said "it depended on availability". When we arrived, they said the room would be ready around 10-11am. We left our luggage there and tried to kill some time. When we got back to the hotel, the room still wasn't ready. BUT we could check-in early if we PAID FOR AN EXTRA NIGHT on the spot. Didn't really have a choice, did we? Thanks for nothing Hotel Templo Mayor - signed, exhausted parents.

Don't forget to read the rest of the reviews, they're all true (very noisy, smelly, tiny rooms, no amenities, etc.)

The position is very good, less than 10 minutes walking from the main square and the staff is very friendly. However, the hotel was very noisy at night, the doors did an awful job of blocking the noise and we could hear everything that was happening in the hallways and reception. Cleaning needs to be greatly improved.

Very good location to Zocalo and main avenues down town, I enjoyed the walking around the hotel area, shopping, local food, great Huaraches two blocks from the hotel.I like the rooms, I stayed on the third floor and other family members on 4th, none of us had any issues with noise or any other aspect. I will stay there again on my next trip!

One of our non-spanish speaking friends needed to leave earlier and a local family member recomended the company 'taxi seguro' to ease her concern about traveling alone early in the morning. Our friend asked the person at the front desk to call a taxi from "Taxi Seguro" and what arrived was a vehicle that was clearly not in the taxi business. When we later asked the front desk for a taxi they again made a call and a family surburban showed up outside. It had no signage that it was a taxi and the driver tried to give us a different price than the one the front desk quoted. Other than the taxi issues the hotel was on the up and up.

PROS - across the street from a busy taco shop. Decent Wifi.
CONS - area turns into a ghost town at 6pm.

I originally found this hotel when looking for a place near the Mexico City Airport to spend a 14 hour layover. Booked it on Hotels.com for $32 USD, so I was quite pleased with that! At night, arriving there by taxi took about 10 minutes and did not seem to be direct. However, the taxi ride the next day seemed more direct and the driver spared no time in getting us there!

The hotel is plain on the outside and on a corner of a very nondescript part of the city. However, the inside reveals open floors with an bright atrium in the center. It was quite pleasant. Rooms were very basic, but also very, very clean and tidy. Our room had a nice king-size bed which basically took up the whole room space. The bathroom was a nice size and also clean and comfortable. A small flat-panel TV is mounted on the wall.

By accident, we discovered that this hotel is only about a 5 min (safe) walk to the Zocolo and the National Palace area. That was quite nice to experience the festivities and activities happening there during the wknd.

The young man working the front desk was very helpful, but spoke no English at all. Just be sure to know some basic Spanish if you need to ask for anything. I was also pleased to see a sign in the lobby stating that the hotel does not discriminate against anyone and that included sexual orientation. There was also a notice stating that the hotel works to help the blind community.

If you do spend a lot of time in the room, have a budget, and want to be near the airport and Zocolo this is a good choice.

The hotel seems to cater mostly to other Mexicans (families and couples) traveling.
