This hotel is ideally located to explore the historic center on foot. It's about 5 minutes from the Zocalo and Templo Mayor. We used Uber to get to places outside the Centro area, and the hotel's concierge arranged our taxi to the airport (reasonable price, and punctual). Our room on the 5th floor faced an inner courtyard and was extremely quiet. We loved the snacks at the reception and the bottled water in the lobby and in our room. High marks for cleanliness - our room was meticulously clean every day of our 5 nights at the hotel. The buffet breakfast had a wide variety of western and Mexican choices, hot and cold, and a good selection for those with dietary restrictions. They also make dishes on request if you don't find it in the buffet. The first night we reached late so we ate dinner at the restaurant. To our surprise the food was so good that we returned a few times during our stay. If you like fresh guacamole, flan and Mexican hot chocolate, they make some of the best I've ever had! The reception staff were extraordinarily helpful - from helping us with directions to an ATM, to packing breakfast boxes for us at 6:30 a.m for an early tour.
We hope to return to Mexico city (like New York, there is SO much to see, it will take a few visits!), and when we do, we will definitely stay at Hotel Catedral. Note: at the time of our visit, they did not offer parking facilities.

This hotel is extremely well located for the Zocalo, it is a very short walk away and therefore well located for other city centre experiences. We arrived at short notice finding our booked hotel very poor and we got a good room at the front of the hotel though the club opposite is noisy at weekends. Staff were consistently helpful, those at the information desk went out of their way to assist with bookings including flight confirmation when we left, and the room cleaners were terrific and most helpful when I was unwell. The cafe could have a slightly more interesting menu but staff were always attentive and the food of fair standard. Issues? The beds are not large.

We stayed five nights at Hotel Catedral(HC) near the Zocalo during the middle of February, 2020, and found HC to be excellent in all respects. Desk personnel were patient with and responsive to all our questions. The comfortable room was spotless and maintained daily. The booking included a complementary, robust breakfast of fruits, vegetables, eggs made to order, rolls, and, of course, hot drinks. Thelma in the breakfast room was memorable for her hospitality. Working together, Sole and America at the concierge desk quickly arranged a private car excursion for us to Teotihuacan, an effort which we are still grateful for. The cost of car and driver was about 25% more than a mini-bus tour, but the driver they arranged for us, named Vincent, was super. During the entire ride to and back from that historic site, he graciously entertained our numerous questions about Mexican society, history, cooking (ask about his tamale recipe), and family. If you decide to go by hired car, ask for Vincent as your driver (if you know just a little bit of Spanish). The hotel experience and the numerous good restaurants nearby made our trip wonderful. Now in the time of pandemic we pray for the good people of the hotel and throughout the whole of Mexico.

This is the 3rd time we've stayed at this Hotel. It's centrally located only a short 2-3 min walk to the Zocalo with an Oxxo convenience store right around the corner for any drinks or snacks needed. During COVID they check your temperature and supply hand sanitizer every time you enter the hotel so it feels safe and clean. Concierge speaks enough English to ask most questions and reply back in English for those whose Spanish is not the best and the breakfast in the downstairs restaurant is well done. Menus are available in both Spanish and English though it's easy to work out the Spanish menu. Special thanks go to Sandy, Mayra, Thelma and the rest of the crew in the restaurant for making my stay welcoming. Rooms were quiet and clean. Basically a well maintained, clean, safe hotel that is in a great location for visiting all the sights in the CDMX.

The hotel has a friendly, very conscientious staff. The value is good, you aren’t paying a lot, but the hotel is a bit tired. Yet, very clean, with crisp sheets and pillow cases. I complained about noise from repair work near my room - and was promptly moved to a different and much nicer room - problem solved! The in-house restaurant is authentic Mexican, inexpensive, again very solicitous staff, honorable mention goes to Thelma and Mayia, extra sweet young ladies. If you aren’t a snob and are looking for an economical option, it’s a good choice.

I forgot money (a big sum which I intended to spend on my holiday) in my bedroom ... outside the safe and passport and cards in my safe which I left OPEN! Upon return to my room, my horror at finding my omissions turned into delight when I found all money and objects there untouched after my room had been cleaned. I can think of a number of countries where upon return I would have found at least the cash missing. Full marks for honesty of the staff. Furthermore, I need to give full marks to the reception staff Nikolai, Carolina Baez and Marlene Ramirez for being extremely helpful - beyond the call of duty. I have been to many hotels in Europe, Asia and the Americas but the staff at the Catedral come top.

The professionalism at this mid-range hotel by the staff is impeccable. Ana at the front desk was friendly, helpful and authentically wanted to help out with all of the questions and concerns of me and other guests. Luis greets you with a friendly face as he takes your luggage when you enter and is always happy to provide you advice and helping out with taxis including getting one to take you to the airport Free water in rooms and in the lobby as well as cookies, potato chips made one feel welcomed. the beds were very comfortable. Just two blocks away from the Zocalo (main huge plaza) and other cultural and artistic amenities made the location top notch. Some of these were the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Museo Jose Luis Cuevas (art and cultural center), the National Palace with the Diego Rivera famous murals, and so much more. The restaurant at the hotel served delicious and well-prepared meals. I used to bring University students here a few years ago and have always enjoyed the attention provided to guests and keep coming back.

The hotel is in great location just few mins walking from the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral and the other center city's attractions.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The room was comfortable and clean, but I must mention that it smelled a bit strange.
All in all – very recommended hotel.

a good budget hotel - very clean and excellent breakfast. the restaurant located at the front of the hotel was also very good. Our only frustration was the meet and greet Shuttle Service from the Airport to the hotel. Overpriced (650 pesos plus tip and parking if your plane is delayed) and it is much less expensive (as we later found out) to take a local taxi (safe and regulated) from the airport to the hotel. On return from the hotel to the airport the local taxi fee was 150 pesos plus tip.

Recently, in my 29th year as a client, I had the good fortune to revisit Hotel Catedral. Friendly, client-centered service characterizes every aspect of this property, along with superb value. Delicious offerings on the breakfast buffet change daily, a wonderful practice, and the public restaurant continues its tradition of excellence.

My only negative is not the fault of the hotel: Its normally outstanding location suffers from frequent events and street closings in the Zocalo area, something I have experienced numerous times over the years. Unfortunately, being 29 years older makes it more difficult to overcome this problem. This time, coming from the airport, I had to leave my taxi after numerous futile attempts to approach the hotel from multiple directions. I was stranded with my luggage and walking stick on the crowded sidewalk, more than three blocks from Catedral. My phone service saved me because the hotel sent help immediately, although I still had to hike the 3+ blocks. Later that week, thinking I would avoid the problem by walking beyond the closed area before calling Uber, I waited an hour on the street because closures and traffic blocked the cab. These inconveniences take a bite from your day, so be aware.
