This hotel is situated on the outskirts of Guanajuato so one needs to have transportation to the old city. It is an authentic mission which has had some renovation. We were fortunate to have a renovated room which was spacious and nicely decorated. There was a patio and swimming pool but we were not there long enough to make use of it. Staying in this Mexican hacienda was an experience.

The mision is an old ranch that has been turned into a hotel. The grounds are very nice. The rooms are big but they smell really musty and the hotel does not have air conditioning. Ask for a fan so that the smell can go away. Breakfast was not that good either. It's better to go into town for a really nice breakfast.

I stayed at this hotel for a wedding, I have to say it was really nice that on the lobby they had a man offering fresh lime water, and the next morning really delicious coffe.
What I didn´t like were the rooms, for the price that I paid I found them to be really poor, the shower was clogged, the toilet had some poop and in general the bathromm stank.
I was disgusted on taking a shower.

This hotel stinks, there a sewer river by this hotel, so smells very bad, specially at night, the swimming pool was out of service 3 of the days we spent there. Very bad customer service. We got over charges on their website prices, it was actually cheaper to book there in person. The last day we spent there the room didn’t get get cleaned, no clean towels and nobody care when I complained about it, this hotel is one of the worst in my list, very disappointed.

We loved Guanajuato, but unfortunately had a rough experience with this hotel. Food was not good, and clearly recycled each day for morning brunch. Furthermore, my wife’s bed (two double bed room) was infested with bed bugs - and this was the second room we moved to after our first room smelled like human excrement and was generally dirty and dusty.

For the cherry on top - they double charged us, and would fake not being able to speak English to avoid consequences. I luckily speak enough Spanish and we had local friends who helped us ensure communication of this problem, but it was not resolved when we arrived home. Now five months later, the hotel has completely ignored our messages and our bank is the only one being remotely helpful. We still have not received a penny.

Avoid these smelly scammers!

I must say I was underwhelmed by Mision Guanajuato. Access and accessibility of the are terrible. You have to carry your luggage through stairs and a small walk before you even get to the first bellhop (not consistent with a 4-5 star hotel).

The hotel is old and although the colonial construction is nice, it also makes it difficult to navigate. Staff and service are OK.

The rooms are quite big (nice) but feel rather cold and furniture and amenities are certainly not new. I also had some problems with the water temperature (it fluctuated between scalding hot and super cold while you are in the middle of the shower).

Lots of kids were at the pool during daytime, so I suppose it must be more fun for families. Business travellers are far from most important commercial and office sections and leisure travellers are also a bit far from the city's main attractions.

At US$73 that I paid (over US$100 rack rate), the hotel is not worth it. Mision Hotels are usually nice, sadly it was not the case with Guanajuato's.

Rooms large enough but below average for the price (by mexican standards), not that welcoming and rooms smell musty.

Because of the freaky roads in Guanajuato, it's virtually impossible to walk in to the centre. They do have a free bus to town every so often, but not coming back.

On the plus side, there is a lovely hacienda and gardens right next door which are well worth a visit (even if you don't stay at the hotel)

Overall, okay but not great. Stay in a hotel in the centre of Guanajuato instead.

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Mission Guanajuato in Guanajuato, Mexico. During my stay in February, my room was infested with bed bugs, which caused significant discomfort and ruined my stay.

Adding to the nightmare, the hotel charged me twice for my stay. I had booked and paid for my reservation via Booking.com before arriving. Upon check-in, they asked for my credit card for incidental purposes but ended up charging me again for the entire stay. I immediately informed the staff, and they assured me that the mistake would be rectified and my money would be refunded.

Despite my numerous calls and messages over the past months, I have received no refund. The hotel has since ignored all my attempts to contact them and has now blocked my number. As a traveler from outside Mexico, I am unable to visit the hotel in person to resolve this issue.

The lack of response and accountability from the hotel management is appalling. I strongly advise anyone considering staying here to look elsewhere. This has been one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had, and the poor customer service only adds to the frustration. Avoid this place at all costs.

I stayed at this hotel on Jan 3rd. While the building is nice and it looks like an old hacienda the service and amenities were terrible. The room was freezing and the heater provided was useless and it did not work. The balcony door had no lock and they told us to prop it close with a stick. there was no hot water in the shower. The building was noisy. Anytime the room aboved used the bathroom it made this horrible noise that could be heard very loudly downstairs. No remote control and when we asked for one, they took forever to send one in. we actually left for dinner and when we came back and asked for it again they aknowledge to have forgotten. There was only one bartender at the bar and no waiters. We waited 30 min to be taken care of and no one approached us even though we called on them. The cafeteria had no brewed coffee but instant. No bottle water. There was not waiters but the waiter captain was serving and taking orders. The food was cold and the dessert (pie) which looked like it had been sitting outside for some time. It took forever to get our order in and longer to get the check. When I mentioned it to anyone that would listen they were apathetic. This was such a disappointment. I WILL NEVER STAY IN THAT PLACE AGAIN AND WILL MENTIONED IT TO ANYONE THAT IT IS A PLACE WITH HORRIBLE SERVICE.
