Check-in staff is fluent in English. If the other staff don’t speak English, then they are “fluent” in Google Translate. All staff are friendly and eager to please.
Breakfast is very good. Daily there is a nice variety of food and beverages. You can also get dinners and drinks and then eat/drink them on the roof.
The roof pool is very nice and there is a 360-degree view of the area.
The hotel is kept clean and welcoming. Guest rooms are very nice and a bottle of water is provided daily.
The reasons for not giving them 5 stars are that their website states they provide airport transportation. They do not. While there the pool needed maintenance and had to be closed the last couple of days of my trip. We could have used the pool at their other location but it was not within walking distance and they would not provide transportation. Also, It was odd that there were only Spanish speaking television stations. In other countries I have stayed the hotel usually provides at least one English speaking station.
I would gladly stay here again!
It will be a good upgrade if they have pack and play for babies and at least one wheelchair for emergencies.
But in general FANTASTIC experience, thank you Best Western Mazatlán!
We have both sent letters to corporate headquarters explaining in detail our terrible experience; we still waiting to hear back.
Either on purpose or by accident there are positive reviews for this property which should be for the other one. It was my mistake, and I should have known better, but I trusted the online reviews which are a mess.
I paid for two weeks and wanted to leave early, but they wouldn't return my unused week or even put me up in the downtown hotel. Just to add to the annoyance, they charged $5 for a replacement room card.
They did not honor my AARP reservation and discount, and we had to pay over $80 EXTRA a night.
The restaurant is ONLY open for breakfast...so you have to "hunt" for all your other meals.
At over $200.00 a night, no kitchenette, mini bar, room service, or even a listing of any kind about the hotel, area restaurants, or activities.
We were charged for every local call...in or out, but never told of the charges.
When the reception was asked to call a taxi, we were told we could find one out in the street!
While the hotel brochure says internet in all rooms, it barely works, and caused us much trouble in not being able to continue our work or access accounts. It was often down for hours, and the three terminals in the lobby were jambed with screaming kids playing video games.
The water could not be drunk from the faucets, yet bottled water, other than one bottle, was charged for.
The light in the bathroom is so poor, you need a flashlight to shave.
No laundry or pick up service.
The only glasses offered to drink from were styrofoam (2 only) cups.
Door key often did not work requiring a very small and slow elevator ride back to the reception for another "charge"
What was good? It is clean, nice uncrowded beach, great breakfast buffet where the only trained and friendly staff were.
Overall: Very poor value, way over priced, and we as Americans were discriminated against more than once at the reception, while Mexican Nationals were serviced ahead of us. Definetly will never stay here again . Caveat emptor!
"Only the suites along the front edge of the hotel have direct beach views. Other rooms face north but still are pleasant."Read full review
