We choose to stay at the Posada Freeman in the historic center for two reasons, proximity to the historic center and second the view from this hotel is AMAZING. The hotel staff were wonderful. We booked two king bedrooms that had views of the ocean and the historic center. This hotel is walking distance to everything in the historic center and el Centro with great restaurants and boutique shops.

A great hotel in the Centro district. The lobby is clean and bright. The check in staff are friendly and willing to answer any question you might have. A staff member is always on hand wiping down surfaces and cleaning the large glass windows that over look the ocean. The morning breakfast has several traditional mexican options, each one better then the last. The lady that serves you speaks no english but is very friendly (We tipped her well on our last day for putting up with us). Our room, 808 was the standard "city view" room. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, the a/c works and there was no city noise. I would caution you about reserving a ocean view room as the road in front of the hotel can get noisy. The rooftop pool is small but great for relaxing with a drink. We watched the sunset from here as well, the views are amazing. We are very pleased with our stay at the Posada Freeman and would stay again.

The Freeman is right on the Malecon so is in the centre of everything going on in town. That can make it quite noisy at night with all the revelry going on outside but that is made up for by the fact that you get to experience the local events. Breakfast is included with the room and is substantial with either a buffet or special orders. Rooms vary in size and views. We prefer the front ocean and Malecon view with a room in the centre rather than the corner room which is smaller. They also have suites with kitchens and sitting rooms if you want more space. Ocean view rooms have 2 double beds, king beds are in city View rooms at the back, not sure why.
The hotel was built in 1944 and retains the charm of the era in a very old and lovely part of Centro, close to everything. Staff were very helpful and accommodating.
There is a bar at the top of the building which attracts a lot of people to watch the sunset in the evening. On the roof is a pool with bar service which we didn’t use because it was too cold when we were there.

Using the Best Western site to make a reservation will not guarantee that you will have a room. That is because this hotel may have the BW name it is independently owned
Great location especially for special events. However have a back up plan or a hotel that will honor reservations. Management will unilaterally cancel your reservation without notice if they can get a better offer. Imagine an airline or a cruise ship doing this BW corporate told me they have no control over this practice and the management does not care if you post a negative comment on this rude inconvenient practice. I recommend you stay an one of the nicer boutique hotels in El central which is nearby. Pricing here is much higher Remember this was built in 1944 so it will have its charm The elevator is scary so I take the stairs. After all this is Mexico.

We love Centro and the location on Olas Atlas and views were wonderful. An unexpected hurricane arrived on our second day and lost Internet, tv, and area restaurants shut down. But no major damage in our area and the hotel staff was wonderful and the restaurant was open which was very appreciated. We loved the rooftop pool. Housekeeping was good, but inconsistent with towel service. Which feels petty to mention, but it was kind of funny. We might get 6 large towels and 1 washcloth or 2 large towels and 4 hand towels. Not a big deal and were pretty responsive with needs. A/C solid and balcony wonderful. No refrigerator or coffee in the room, but breakfast is included each morning. Walking distance to so many things and Centro is my favorite and just beautiful. We’re coming back for a few days in March. Looking forward to it.

We booked a king room which we found out when we arrived at 11 AM was a city view only, not disclosed on the website. There was zero chance we could get an early check in even though the hotel was empty, really poor customer service on this note. We were told to make our request for a twin double room with fridge and microwave at 2PM. No way can you check in a minute before 3PM. Also on the website, for room amenities it said refrigerator and microwave available on request. We went to check in at 2PM, requested a fridge and microwave, they said no, only if you get a suite room for $40 more a night. Rather than argue, we just took the paid upgrade. Well, this suite is a pretty poor suite. It has a small kitchen, but nothing that a kitchen would have, like dish soap and a sponge, wine opener, no knives, a can opener, no dish towel, I don't know how you can market this suite having a kitchen? I asked on numerous occasions for a sponge and dish soap and was laughed at. No wash clothes or hand towels, just 2 bath towels. Out of the 5 nights we stayed we only had maid service 2 times. The pool is a complete joke. the bartender is always trying to sell me something. I did order some beers and they were not cold at all. Went back and complained and gave me a pitcher with 3 cubes of ice for 2 beers. Then he comes back up, says he is sorry and gives me a cold beer. Come to find out, he charged me for that beer. When we left the bar, we said charge it to our room, he said you can't do that, the system doesn't work. We walked away. Come to find out upon check out he charged us for 3 beers. The wifi on the weekend was complete joke, it didn't work at all. This place hasn't been updated since the last time we stayed in 2018, it is showing its age. Is this place really up to the standards of a Best Western Hotel, because if it is, we will never stay at one again. Such a disappointing vacation.

Positives. Water was hot., maid was lovely And the location was great.
Negatives. First impression was a miserable face and a non caring attitude our room was very small and dated. Towels where threadbare and in short supply especially at pool. The breakfast I heard great things about but it was very poor, Very Poor. Of the 4 mornings breakfasts we were offered we only took one as we couldn’t face that again. Window in washroom wouldn’t close so a waste of air conditioning. Parking very limited. Drinks seemed watered down in bar. We will return to Mazatlán but definitely not this place.

Water in shower was “brown” dirty - Water in sink had dirt particles and was also “brown” when the sink was started. I did not drink any water from the room, but became sick during my 5 days at the hotel.

Room was very small with a little over a foot of free space between the TV/Dresser and the end of the bed.

There was constant noice above the room, and in other areas that made it impossible to sleep during the daytime

We thought we would give this location a try as it is at one end of the boardwalk. The food and staff service was good, and the rooftop pool was nice, but the noise level from the street really took away from the entire experience. It was like trying to sleep in the center of a party until 3am. The rooms are very cramped, the beds and pillows are very hard. The Wi-Fi is slow as well. There are definitely better hotels.

Booked for a night as my Airbnb didn't work out as expected. The hotel is one of the oldest in the city of Mazatlan. The general atmosphere reminded me of Latin American business hotels that appeared in the movies. The location is one of the best in the city, with no doubt, Don't forget to check out the rooftop pool & bar - it's absolutely one of Mazatlan's hidden gems. Highly recommended and great value for money
