Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Many travelers commend El Cid El Moro Beach Hotel for its cleanliness and prime location near the Golden Zone and beach. However, guests have called out the hotel for its less-than-tranquil atmosphere, marred by disruptive noise from nearby nightlife.
While some praise the friendly service, others are frustrated by inconsistent attention and unexpected charges, including for basic amenities like Wi-Fi. Reviews are mixed on the value offered, with criticism focusing on hidden costs and the all-inclusive experience.

Detailed Reviews
Our stay at the el Moro tower for our first visit to Mazatlan has for the most part been a pleasure. Staff have been very accommodating with room changes due to smoky and or noisy rooms, and the housekeeping staff have been great! Everything inside and out is very clean.
Special thanks to Enrique & Ulises in the La Concha restaurant for ensuring that my dietary needs are met (non-celiac gluten sensitivity, and low to no tolerance for stimulants including any kind of food sugars), and to chef Humberto for preparing special sugar and chocolate-free desserts!
We were surprised to discover, though, that the outside environment can extremely noisy, through no fault of the resort. The surf is fine, but there is a night club across the street behind the hotel that plays extremely loud thumping music until well past midight! During the day, the wandering beach bands (tubas, trumpets, clarinets, DRUMS!) can be very loud and obtrusive, and the novelty quickly wears off. In addition the peddlars are constant in the afternoons, and can be very insistant.
The location is very central, transportation easily accessable, and the beach and pool areas are lovely.
If you go, ask for a full west view of the beach, or south west corner rooms.

I and a couple of friends were in El Cid Mazatlan January 2020. Although our reservation was made for El Moro, we were able to enjoy El Cid La Marina, Castilla and Granada locations and all their amenities which was like having 3 vacations in one!! We had one suite on the 17th floor and another one in the 21st floor. 2 beautiful suites fully renovated with a breathtaking view of the ocean and the city. So... we went to bed every night and woke up every morning to a magnificent view of both the city and the ocean! Strategically located north of the 21 kilometres of Mazatlan’s Malecón and so close to the Zona Dorada gives you access to all the great things Mazatlan has to offer. However, the El Cid complex (El Moro, Castilla, Granada) is so beautiful that you don’t need to go anywhere else. Swimming pools are very well kept and are so big that they’re never crowded. Fresh water waterfalls and slides will keep you cool and amused all day. Check the daily pool side activities for more fun or just seat at the swim up bar. You will find plenty of delicious food around the resort to keep you satisfied. The selection of food and drinks is excellent!! Check the La Pérgola restaurant at El Cid Castilla. They have a different theme every night in food and free entertainment. It is fantastic! Go for a swim in the ocean or take a walk along pristine beaches? Placed at the entrance of Sea of Cortez, Mazatlan has some of the most beautiful beaches, but don’t miss some of the most beautiful sunsets in the Pacific Ocean. They are breathtaking!!
I have never been very fond of all inclusive vacation, but I’ll come back to El Cid in a heartbeat! With a stellar customer service and a friendly and courteous staff you are guaranteed a great time!! We more likely try other locations. Riviera Maya, perhaps??
Thank you El Cid for a wonderful vacation! Hope to see you soon!!

It wad our second time at El Cid. We stayed 2 weeks in a one bedroom suite, higher floors have better views. Suite was spacious and well appointed. We did not take the all-inclusive package so cannot comment on the food or beverages, other than to say prices were high. We prefer to eat out at the many fabulous and affordable restaurants Mazatlan offers. WIFI was $10 per day per device which was ridiculous. Coffee shops and restaurants in the area offer free WiFi. Staff was friendly altho check-in was painfully slow and everyone is greeted by insistent timeshare/vacation plan salespeople that are hard to brush off..

Dear Guest, First of all we would like to thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent stay at el Cid Moro. We are glad to hear that we met almost all your expectations and that you enjoyed your second time in our facilities. It is worth mentioning that the internet is still a chargeable service in most internationally managed hotels in Mazatlan and our current rates are in line with other hotels in Mazatlan and Mexico. The internet line is however high-speed, we have an on-site technician and a 24-hour help desk to overcome any internet-related issues. We hope to continue being your choice the next time you visit this port. Sincerely, Mark Covarrubias Mckay General Manager

Great as usual but sometimes it is.hard to get into some of the restaurants at a reasonable hour. We enjoyed the golf and were always able to get a tee time. The shuttle drivers were always so courteous and accommodating. The entire staff at El CID always treats everyone like family. We do wish the maid service was more on a consistent schedule so we could schedule our activities to coincide with theirs.

The front reception desk were the best, and some of the guys around the pool. At check-in, we were able to change rooms to a 2 bedroom place so the entire family could stay together with huge balcony vs 2 separate rooms. Really big resort right on the beach which was perfect.
The restaurants ... some were terrible and others really good. We had trouble getting reservations, so we had really late or really early times. When we show up to restaurants lots would be empty so I don’t know why they would require reservations, really almost ruined our trip.
We would stay at El cid marina next time, seemed to be nicer and quieter.
Also there was only one really rowdy bar open at night for the entire resort, this was a real disappointment as the others closed at like 9
edit: actually visited Feb 2020 (pre-covid)

We have been coming to El Cid in Mazatlan for 13 years now and I am always impressed by how responsive the staff is to suggestions and feedback to improve the resort and your experience at the resort. The staff is so helpful with any need and so friendly.
El Cid's response to Covid outshines anything I've seen stateside and I felt very safe during my stay. Hand sanitizing stations are everywhere and ALL staff wear masks and glasses when in closer contact with the public. Masks are requested of the guests in most areas of the buildings (except outside).
The food seems to get better each time we go and this year saw a revamp of the menus with some delicious additions. The presentation is so elegant and the food is scrumptious, this year they had HUGE shrimp and the beef is always so tender.
We think very highly of El Cid and enjoy the city of Mazatlan, where there is so much to see and do.

We stayed February 20-27. First the bad, this place is load the 25 story tower if your not an owner you will be on the street side still partial ocean view but you will hear the traffic and the night clubs bass until about 2:00 am. The beach is nice not Caribbean nice but nice the problem is the 6-12 bands on the beach with trumpets tuba drums etc that start at 1:30pm and go until about 7:00pm they are extremely load so setting on the beach there is no napes or much relaxing, try and go to the adult pool but you can still hear the bands. This is a warning don’t stay here if you want to relax stay at the El CID Marina it’s very quiet. You can take a shuttle between the two for free it takes 5-10 minutes between the two and the shuttle come when you need it. The good is the food. Lunch at the beach is great loved the shrimp in garlic sauce, fajitas etc. the dinners are good the Italian is definitely the best and the Japanese is by far the worst. The La conch is good but not worth the extra $20 per person. Fantastic waiting staff every where thank you. The place is nice and clean great kids pool for the families.

I can't say enough good things about our stay at El Cid El Moro Beach. We had a group of 10 of which 6 were young men in their early 20's. Rui was amazing with helping to set up the accommodations for us and the 6 boys were ecstatic with their “shared” room. (It was the Penthouse, so how could it have been any better) I'm sure the snap stories showing their accommodations for the week made many of their friends jealous. Rui also went out of his way by having our room decorated with balloons and a birthday cake for my husband upon our arrival. The Activities crew Caesar, Ryan, Enrique and Frank went above and beyond keeping everyone entertained. Between the blackjack, football toss, flip cup, and beer chug contests our crew walked away with many bottles of tequila. Let’s just say we are a very competitive group. Our poolside service was amazing. Jorge made sure our drinks were flowing and our bellies were full. The others were amazing as well, but we really kept Jorge busy a few days, so he stands out in my mind. The staff in the Elite lounge was awesome as well. Always ready to help when we needed anything. Housekeeping was thorough and at our door every day and the hotel was exceptionally clean inside and out. The Covid protocols were in place everywhere. All staff wearing masks as well as temperature checks and hand sanitizer as anyone entered the hotel or any of the restaurants. The Covid tests administered on site had a quick turnaround for results so we didn't have to worry about making it back home. (The q-tip up the nose was my least favorite thing about my vacation), but a small thing to endure compared to the amazing time we had. This was the 1st time for us in Mazatlán but have been to El Cid in Cancun and I am a huge fan of this resort.

The resort has excellent measures in place regarding COVID-19. All main entrances have employees taking temperatures and providing sanitizing gel. Masks are worn by all employees and required by guests throughout the resort with the exception of outside at the pools or while dining at your table. Professional, friendly employees throughout the property. Small super market on the ground level. Variety of stores for souvenirs, pool toys, etc. Michael Gallery within walking distance for quality silver and gold jewelry (see Cristina Ponce), as well as great decor and hand blown Mexican glassware.

More promises and hype then reality unfortunately. The working class are hardworking and humble. My response to the timeshare sales person was “rather than promise all the great service if I purchase tens of thousands, why not sell me through the service and impress me through my current visit?”. We still love the pools, the entertainment, and beach location but some degrading points over the past 5 years or so are ... food quality and portions, increased noise level from the street, the amount of pollution due to a drastic jump in traffic, the surrounding run down properties, drop in over all cleanliness of dining utensils and glassware, the level of professionalism in service, the ridiculous fluctuation in water temperature of the showers (ice cold to scalding), and lack of ambition to act when notified about dissatisfaction (goes back to missing service excellence). We kept wanting to love the resort as much as we use to (since 2001] but it has changed and not for the better unfortunately, I hope things do improve as we use to really enjoy EL CID.

I have stayed there over 10 times, a span of 20 plus years and I have never heard disco music. They are also very helpful, when you register you can talk to them about it and ask for a quieter room.
When we had questions prior to our trip we called the phone number on their website.
