Detailed Reviews
It’s an ok place but you can tell the developers couldn’t get these units sold and started renting them.
Not set up as a true resort, lots of things missing so you could enjoy your stay . Minor little things, like face cloths, dish cloths, paper towels, knives that are sharp enough to use, cutting boards that are so stained I didn’t want to use them. Broken down furniture, dirty furniture, tv with Spanish only channels, I would never stay there again. If I want a true resort experience, I don’t have to look far to find many choices. I was part of a golf outing and we all stayed there, not knowing what to expect and it served our purposes to attend the golf event.

+1
We found the place a very good value , hunted down a great rate. Was not very busy , we booked for 5 nights and extended to 10 ! Beautiful suite , was a bit older but well maintained and very clean , amenities were basic such as plates, cookware, cutlery but it was sufficient. The pool is great and hot tub very nice. Right on the beach and had it to ourselves at times , same as pool area, clean and well kept also. Got a discounted rate for golf with stay( still kind of expensive in my opinion) but enjoyed a very nice course . Hotel restaurant and clubhouse restaurant were both good food and service ! Would definitely return here .

Let me start with the positives, because there are many.
Pros:
The view. All units will have a pretty good ocean view. The rest of your view will be of the beautiful, very large pool, and the building across the way.
You can open your sliding doors to the living area and the bedroom and hear the ocean and feel the breeze.
The pool. It is large, beautiful, heated and has a large integrated kiddie pool. There is a large hot tub, also integrated that is nice and warm. There are plenty of lounge chairs and were enough umbrellas for the amount of guests that were there. There is no pool bar or snack bar if that is important to you. It was not important to us so that was fine.
The beach. It is private and 3 1/2 miles long. It is basically deserted and was heaven to be able to walk long walks on the beach and hear nothing but the ocean. No vendors. No loud Bandas like on the Golden Zone beaches. There are constant groups of pelicans that come flying in low on formation just barely above the water or the sand right in front of the water that were so fun to watch. I never got tired of it. We were not lucky enough to be there during the turtle hatching season which is from Sept - December. If you are there during those months, you can pay to help newly hatched turtles go out to the ocean for the first time.
The golf course. It is right on site and adds to the beauty of the property. It is a large and beautiful Trent Jones Jr, course with many holes with ocean view. My husband said it is a "Big Boy course."
The units. They are spacious and have high quality finishes-- nice applicances, granite countertops, travertine floors and comfortable furniture. The terrace was very large with a beautiful view of the ocean and pool.
Peace and Quiet. This property is about 20 miles south of the city of Mazatlan. To be happy here, you would not expect to go into town much, but enjoy the peace and quiet that are here, or have a car. We had already spent 2 weeks in the city, so a week to relax was welcome for us.
The water. Unlike most places in Mexico, you can drink the water here. EDM has it's own water purification plant that is state of the art. My husband happend to meet the developer of the water plant and was given a tour. It was a huge bonus to have that peace of mind!
Cons:
The managment is very friendly, and they did try to help us with the needs we had. However, there were some glaring omissions to the amenenites in the units that should have been provided and they were not able to. If the management would do the following few things, it would take their resort to the next level and would make their Luxury suites name an accurate description of what their guests will experience.
1. The kitchen needs be better furnished. The Luxury Suites are advertised as having a luxury, full kitchen, with full oven, microwave, dishwasher, etc. This elicits the expecation that there would be all the things you would need in the kitchen to cook with. At least basic things. I understand that many people don't want to cook on vacation, but there are many like us who like to cook when we have a full kitchen. Sadly, the kitchen is very minimally furnished. There were no pot holders. We had one dishtowel. Although there was a dishwasher, there was no dishwasher detergent, which basically made the dishwasher unuseable. They could not provide any, and there was non to buy in their little market on site. Dishwasher detergent has always been provided at every other resort we have been at with a dishwaher. There was no toaster and non could be provided. A toaster is expeted in units with even a minimal kitchen. There was no large sald/mixing bowl. There was one large kitchen knife and it was not very sharp. It woud be welcome to have one more medium size knife, maybe with a serated edge. There were no measuring cups or spoons. There was no grater. For a unit with a full oven, you would expect at least one baking pan. There were none. The stove top pans were adequate. There were 3 frying pans of different sizes and one largish pot with a lid. There was a blender and it worked fine.
There could had been more dishes and flatware. We were in a 2 bedroom unit that could sleep up to 8 people. There were four dinner plates, 4 salad plates, 4 bowls, 4 saucers and 4 coffee mugs. We had between 4 -6 forks, knives, teaspoons and tablespoons. Lucky for us, it was just the two of us, so the diminished amount of dishes worked for us. If you do not have enough dishes for your unit, let the management know and I believe they will bring you more. We did not think we had bowls at first and told them we needed cereal bowls and they brought some.
I saw the list of things that should be in the kitchen, and the things that I am suggesting they add (just to bring the kitchen up to be basically furnished) were not on the list. I hope the management will consider adding these things.
2. The bed was extremely hard. This was something they did help us with. They brought a bed softening pad and put it on the bed. This made it barely soft enough so that we could sleep. Without it we would have hated the comfort of our bed, would not have been able to sleep and would not have enjoyed our stay. It took asking 3 times to get this softening pad, but they did finally bring it. So if you feel the bed is too hard, be persistant about the pad. They should be able to provide that.
In my view, the pros of this property far out way the cons. I am giving it 5 stars because even with the few things that could be improved, it deserves better than 4 stars. Overall, I loved my stay and would gladly come back again. If you are looking for peace, beauty, ocean view, sounds and breezes, this place is for you. If you would rather be closer to the action, I would recommend staying in the city.

If you are looking for a place to be disconnected from the crowds, rest and relax as much as possible, this is the ideal place. The rooms are super spacious and the pool comfortable to even enjoy the sunsets without moving from the bed

I give it a 1 Ace because I can't give it zero, the hotel is not cheap for the security and atmosphere it offers. You can't leave your stuff in the beds and go to your room when other people already took your stuff. Supposedly it's a smoke-free place and people smoke in the pool, go swimming with denim and even if you complain nobody does anything. Honestly it's not a family place let alone suitable for children. When you check in you are fitted with a bracelet and suddenly in the premises you meet people who do not have. Security leaves too much to be desired.
