There are many reasons I like the Palms Hotel. The first is location is in the golden zone centrally located. The rooms are clean, and the air conditioner gets as cold as anyone could ever desire. The times I have stayed here I have had a room with two double beds, a small refrigerator, a Hotel size coffee maker, small table 2 chairs, a desk with one chair a flat screen television about 36 inches, a safe and ironing board.
The television channels for English speaking folks are Fox News, CNN international, TNT, A &E, Cinemax and Fox.
The bathroom has a huge shower, a single sink a blow dryer and they supply soap, shampoo and cream. I like the fact that the sink, toilet and shower are in one room. So I can get dressing without waking my husband. The hot water gets very hot and the water pressure is good. I mention this because I saw a post that said the water pressure was poor, it is not .
The swimming pool is an infinity pool that looks out over the ocean. The pool was entirely too cold for my liking.
One restaurant is located overlooking the beach, and the other is in the lobby. The food is pretty good although not excellent. The service is excellent.
The staff is so friendly, especially around the pool.
They have a small store in the hotel that sells, soda, chips, hats, toiletries, toys etc. and the prices are reasonable.
This hotel used to be a Holiday Inn. It’s an excellent deal, clean and nice.

Did not realize when I booked this is the old Holiday Inn where we stayed 13 yrs ago..Was happy with front desk service and fantastic maids on our floor and the great bellboys. Room was clean and comfortable and view of ocean was amazing. The breakfast restaurant was disorganized and they kept getting our order wrong or bringing tortillas after food was cold. The Sunday we had 5 people serve us and get the order wrong. Tried to order room service 5 times and they only picked up the phone once despite front desk assuring us it was open till 1 am. Pool service was practically non existent. One of the waiters Alberto seemed angry and refused to talk. He tried to open my diet coke can and it fizzed so he got mad and chucked it in the bush. I tipped 20% and he just said ok. Did the same today at lunch. Never smiled or said thank you or gracias for tip. He never asked if everything was ok. Chilo was a good waiter we had 1st breakfast and served me at the beginning of lunch today. Angry waiters who obviously hate serving customers need to change jobs. When I brought this up to the manager he offered a free breakfast if we stayed there next year. Not good enough. Will stay next door where there is better service. Lobby was empty of furniture but was filled by the time we left. Nice new modern furniture and they were putting up lights today. Funny some of these waiters were there 13 years ago and were not friendly then either. If management worked at improving the waiter's attitude and service this would be one of the best places to stay. Also towel lady was sweet.

I have been staying at the Palms for years including when it was the Holiday Inn Sunspree. I wouldn't stay anywhere else. I brought along 2 golfing friends who had never been to Mazatlan. Everything was great except the hardness of the beds. I had warned them and they thought no problem but did find the beds hard. I bring my own foam mattress pad so it's not a problem for me. The price of the rooms is great, the ocean view fantastic and the staff is always great. I wish they still had happy hour at the restaurant. Periodically they have convention groups of young people that may stay for a few days and I try to find out when and avoid those times. I have been there during one or two group meetings over 20 years and the kids were polite and did not ruin the vacation. I love the proximity of The Palms to the El Cid Golf Course, that can't be beat! One other suggestion I have is that they update their exercise equipment in their small workout room.

I stayed at The Palms for 7 nights in early November. I have stayed here many times over the years, at least 15 times. I have always given good reviews of my stays. The recent sale of the hotel has brought some changes, not all of them good. They have changed out the lobby furniture, more informal, less classy. The addition of the Panama Restaurant has brought many more people to the property, many who are not staying there. Good for the hotel I'm sure but more crowded for guests seeking tables at the outside restaurant, etc. But my biggest disappointment was that they hosted a wedding on property at the pool that went to 11 o'clock. With live music blaring into everyone's room! I thought the band was done until the wedding party brought up a banda group for the last hour from the beach. I'm sure it was pre-arranged. Oh brother. I can't believe the hotel management thought so little of its guests to allow this kind of noise late into the night. There was no way to sleep during this event in my opinion. I should have complained to the management but did not and that is my fault for not doing so. Maybe they would have given me some consideration on a future stay. I usually stay on weeknights only and this just reinforces that weekends are not for me at The Palms.

Watch out for the bait and switch.
We booked an ocean view suite and they tried to give us a regular room. After having to re-prove our suite reservation it took about 20 minutes for them to agree. And then we were told it’s be another 20/30 minutes before our room was ready. We checked in at 3:10 pm
So as we walked away the concierge came up to us and offered us a complimentary breakfast. That’s all she said. We assumed because they messed up our reservation and we had to wait for our room.
We show up the next day for our free breakfast only to be told it was a 90 minute time share meeting. What a bunch of crap.

In the suite, there was a tiny coffee maker and enough coffee for 1/2 cup for 1 person. It was like pulling teeth to get more coffee.
The manager even came up and told us the housekeeper said she’d left extra. I showed him that she had not. She was there as well. Even then, we never got what we’d asked for.
They cleaned our suite and took all the towels. It took a couple of hours to get any towels. (We has been on the beach all day and were wet and sandy waiting for towels)
They also took the wash cloths that I brought from home.

So no. Never again.

Also it is a noisy hotel and the days we were there it’s was 50% children which is fine if you like kids. That mistake is on me not the hotel. I didn’t research enough on that.

We stay here every time we're in Mazatlan. This year the pool area has been demolished and a new sea wall and pool are being quickly built. The adjacent property north of the Palms has a small pool for use while construction is under way. The restaurant does a huge business now - prices are reasonable too.
Rooms are as they always are - utilitarian, clean, and the wifi is good. Air conditioning is marginal, thermostats only allow for slight cooling. Coming from the frozen north I like a cool room to sleep in.

I will never stay at the Palms Resort of Mazatlan again. When I checked in they charged me for 28 night up front. I had to leave early and I am now trying to get my refund for seven nights. When I checked out they didn’t give me a bill and made me email a copy of my credit card and a credit card statement. They are now requesting me to give them my bank routing number and account number for my bank. My bank has nothing to do with my credit card. I have been emailing with them and Citi Visa with no success to get my refund of the seven nights I did not stay. I have never had to pay up front at a hotel in my life. DO NOT pick this place to stay.

Don't like to write this bad review but feel its warranted.
The hotel is constructing a new pool and great as this may be for future guests for current guests like myself its terrible. I received an email in Spanish stating the main pool was closed after I booked...!
Construction noise from around 7am untill after 10 pm. Forget about waking up and easing into your day with a coffee on the balcony. I tried!
The sea view is blocked off by big plywood panels so very limited ocean views from ground level.
There is a nice pool next door guests can use but without beach access and its fenced so one feels like being in a prison compound.
The (very young ) staff is fantastic though and made my stay, as is housekeeping!
The room was comfortable and in good shape.
I don't recommend staying untill the pool renovation is finished. Sorry!

Overall the hotel very well, is an establishment that already has its years, but you can see that they have been updating it little by little. They should have some shade in the pool areas at peak times. They have a Panama restaurant as the main dining room of the hotel. Not bad, the only thing I think they should organize is the number of people who are always present on the premises, regulate access, change access or something. Overall very comfortable for what you pay for.

Hotel with very old facilities. Although our quadruple room with a pool view is very small. The air conditioning was so loud that you couldn't sleep. Few lounge chairs in the pool area and very small parking. Although it does not have a restaurant, there is an entrance to a Restaurant that does not belong to the hotel in which the service is very slow and the food is not very good.

Shoot I'm not sure but don't do the taxi. do and uber its lot cheaper than the taxis. And keep an eye on your clothes. Particularly your underwear . My cousin told me that it's hard to find good affordable underwear in Mexico so she wasn't surprised that my underwear and my son's underwear went missing.

We were there in late Jan and didnt see many young kids nor had any issues what-so-ever with college kids. The rooms were great, as was the hotel. You can buy bottled water anywhere at decent prices and keep it in the fridge in the rooms. The hotel store was reasonable in cost.

They say yes but I prefer to walk across the street and go to Oxxo and purchase a gallon of water. The gallon of water is very cheap there and they have all the necessity you may need on a quick run to the store.
