Hotel's Favourite
I've read some Karen reviews about this place, but after being here a week, I can honestly say I am so sad to go home tomorrow. I am a General Hotel Manager myself, & this place is fantastic. The beds are heaven, the pillows awesome, the restaurant was superb for ALL meals, grounds are immaculate, linen are dazzling white, staff was on point & ALWAYS friendly--American culture is to complain about everything but we loved every minute here. Lots of shopping in walking distance, this place is a slice of heaven. So glad the mother-in-law chose this hotel for the family, we love it!

We have stayed at Emporio multiple times- we like the location and the staff are amazing. Over the years, we've seen a few maintenance things that needed work, but this visit took the prize. We stayed in a suite, which was roomy, but we had water leaks in our bathroom the entire time- maintenance came three time to change the toilet tank, hoses, and the sink. We still had to put a trash can under the sink to catch the water. There were small things in the room that needed attention, such as scuff marks on the walls, inoperable locks, and an unscrewed bathroom door hinge.
Also, on Friday night, we heard a commotion down the hall (we were in 401, an end unit) and peeked out. We heard (but didn't see) a woman crying on the ground and could see a man standing over her yelling at her. The next day, the white wall had bloody marks in several areas that weren't cleaned up for two days, and then they were painted over. This makes us wonder what kind of people that hotel is attracting! We did call security and they came immediately, but it was frightening.
We were always happy with our housekeeper and the hotel and restaurant staff. They all went above and beyond. When I had trouble connecting to the internet, the young man at the desk did it for me.
Again, we love the staff, but can do without the drama and the poor maintenance.

First the good:
• Nicely located beachfront with easy beach access (though to the "rougher" part of the beach)
• Most rooms had a partial or full ocean view X20 - X25 had the best views (albeit distant), largest rooms.
• Beds were very comfortable
• Nice balconies
• Food was excellent quality
• Staff were friendly, though many not all that knowledgeable about local amenities
• Fitness center was clean, well kept
• Good adherence to Covid-19 safety measures
Now the not so good:
• No activities desk to organize tours
• No tourist guide brochures or magazines giving any guide to local amenities.
• No refrigerator in the rooms
• No ice makers in the hallways
• No onsite or nearby water gear rental (kayaks, sailboats, surfboards, bikes)
• No nightlife, canned or live music at the bar (at least during the week while we were there).
We were 6 family 4 generation + 1 baby in 3 rooms. We had some issues with the first rooms we got (stuff not working, some mildew smell) but the management resolved them by giving us new rooms.
The place was ideal for kids and independent couples looking to stay at the place. Not good for people wanting to do activities, or go to the cool parts of Mazatlan (other side of the Malecon). Also, note, it's smaller than it looks on web site photos and a bit more run-down than it looks. It's an older hotel.

Day before my stay was to begin I recieved an email stating Emporio did not have 3 digit code for my credit card, and I'd lose my reservation if I did not get them the code before 5 PM, that day. It was already 7 PM, and their reservation department was closed. So I went to bed not knowing if they'd honor the reservation I made a monthly and a half prior. When I called them in the morning they told me they couldn't give me the Jr Suite I had reserved. I was very upset and I told them they had no honor. After a half hour on the phone they finally said they'd give me what I booked.
The room has a great view, good location, and is run down in need of a remodel.
There are 2 pools, and a large Jaccuzzi next to the bar. Every time I wanted to sit in jaccuzzi it was full of kids. One of the pools is specifically for children and the other pool is not off limits to children. So I asked if the jaccuzi was for adults only? They said yes, but wouldn't do anything, I had to call the front desk and complain to get the kids out of the jaccuzzi So I could relax. Today I see the jaccuzzi is full of kids again.
No appologies from anyone, and no clue about how to run a Hotel. It's sad to see So much potential wasted. Avoid this place or be prepaired to argue for anything that should be a given.

No pros, all cons:
They charged me 500.00 pesos per day for bringing my son along, he was considered the 4th person. Why? He stood in the same room, just to use the facilities?
This is the definition of taking advantage of the situation.
Speaking of the room, what a joke! Smells, is very small, the beds are full size, two people can't really rest on it. The closet spaces all beat up, did I mentioned the room smelled?
The pool was ok. The hotel personal are always on the prowl trying to bust you for not buying drinks in the hotel.
The exterior needs paint and just outside the hotel by the sidewalk, the stench of piss is overwhelming.
The beach area is way to small, the hotel is located in a corner and it makes for the space to run out of sand, particularly at high tide.
Do yourselves a favor and stay at Gaviana or playa mazatlan, I've stayed there before and are, by far, much nicer places.

To start with, do not trust the photos published of the hotel. they are all photoshopped. Besides, if you are searching for a room where to relax, this is not the place. they have all kind of extremely noisy private events from mid afternoon to late night (all week long) and there is not place to hide from the uncontrable decibeles produced. Also the maintenance of the place is behind its needs and the staff is not responsive, not following up claims. We had to wait more than half an hour to get our room door opened to let us in, as the battery of the lock stopped working. Then they told us that it will be repaired asap while we were at the pool and… 3 hours later it remained the same, making us to loose more time of our short holiday while the staff figured out how to change a battery. I have never given such a bad opinion, but believe me, the administration has to fic a lot of issues to make it comfortable to stay.
The rooms are clean, but the only point I give is for the restaurant: ONLY AT THE RESTAURANT: the breakfast buffet is very good, the staff, service and atmosphere is pleasant there.

We went to Mazatlan for our 8 year anniversary and booked a junior suite. Upon arrival, we met the manager Arnuflo who learned it was our anniversary and decided to upgrade our room to help us celebrate. When we got to our room there was balloons and a note for us! It was so sweet! The room was AMAZING! The bigger balcony, the hammocks, we spent majority of our time that we were in the rook, on the balcony. Absolutely amazing views, the staff was very patient and nice. My Spanish is definitely not the greatest, but everyone took their time to listen and understand and was just fantastic. Our house keeper was fantastic as well! Just an overall great great trip! Arnuflo and his staff are fantastic, and for us, his English helped us TREMENDOUSLY. Highly reccomend staying here for those that may not be the best with Spanish! The staff still treats you great! Thank you all!!

Lizbeth at the front desk was amazing! She was very helpful with an accident that my friend had (which was totally his fault by showing off in the parking lot on his motorcycle, he was in a frenzy!) Lizbeth help him with the whole insurance process by translating. This is our second time here. We will be back unless the stupidity of my friend permits it.

Hi, you do not have to worry about transportation, there is a taxi cab service (yellow cab) at the airport, as soon as get out the gate, walk to your rigth and there is the taxi counter for buying your ticket to Emporio Mazatlan, the fare is about 25 USD.
Greetings!!
Hi good evening, the rooms hasn´t mini fridge, bringing your drinks its ok on the beach, in the hotel is not allowed birng any drink from outside.
Greetings.
Couple of times i visited the restaurant was about 9am. They had it for 195 pesos (abt 10usd) for the "all you can eat".
Kids under 4 years old do not pay.
Food was good and they had omelettes, local food and several other options.
No. But there is a private sandy area on the hotel property with umbrellas, showers and bar service. The area is small and sits higher than the actual beach. There's a walkway down to the beach below.
