Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan Beach Resort has won the hearts of guests with its breathtaking ocean views and modern rooms, though some have mentioned a desire for more storage, a fridge, and comfier sofas. The resort's service is frequently lauded for its attentiveness and personalized touch.
With its clean beaches, updated ambiance, and festive activities, the resort's atmosphere is appreciated, although a few guests would enjoy more local music. The prime location is a hit for its accessibility and nearby attractions, ensuring the resort's status as a good value proposition for travelers seeking an all-inclusive experience.

Detailed Reviews
We chose this resort for its beach, proximity to the city and recent renovations. On many levels the resort delivers. Our room was lovely, with a view looking over the small pool and ocean, easily one of the best balcony views we have had. The quality of food and liquor was very good, and the service from all staff was outstanding. However, there are several concerns which prevent me from providing a glowing review:
1. The noise from the banda bands on the beach is terrible. Frequently three would be playing at once, making rest or conversation impossible at the beach, pool or your room. There is nothing the resort can do about it, as they play on a public beach, and for locals, who make up the majority of the property's guests.
2. Dining options are limited on the property. There is only one buffet, and it is open for breakfast only. Supper is restricted to Cilantro's, two reservation only restaurants( both of which are open to the public and one which is located 20 min away and requires a surcharge), and a very mediocre Asian style restaurant, which is the converted morning buffet restaurant. This latter restaurant is clearly not popular with the majority of guests, resulting in long waits at Cilantro's.
3.There is no lounge per say to have an evening drink. One must try and get one of the limited bar tables at Cilantro's, or drink outside at the pool bar.Considering how cool and windy it gets in Mazatlan in the evening in winter, that is not a viable option.
4. The rooms are not very sound proof. You clearly hear your neighbours above and beside you. As well, the road noise is constant.

I reviewed this property four years ago and gave it 4 stars. I just returned from another stay and it was a much better experience. My biggest ding was that this resort's room and facilities were dated but the hotel and its rooms have been completely renovated. We really liked the updated rooms although there wasn't much drawer space. We booked a Luxury Suite as opposed to a Junior Suite we stayed at previously. The food is much better than I remembered. Mazatlan is a great seafood town and the hotel had good seafood. The staff were also great. The hotel was not super busy so they allowed us to check in early and check out late. The Covid test onsite was also very professional and convenient. The only place that required a dinner reservation was the Italian restaurant and it was not hard to book probably because the hotel was not that busy. I remember in our previous trip here and other Pueblo Bonito properties that reservations can be difficult. The beach was also great but there is a Banda band playing LOUDLY all day. You can't fault the hotel because it is on public property. This hotel attracts many locals who apparently like the Banda music (these people won't play unless they are paid).
We also stayed using points at Doubletree Mazatlan and I know we are not comparing apples to apples but this place was just so much better. The Banda music was far worse (louder and longer) at Doubletree Mazatlan.

My wife and I chose Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan to spend a few days to celebrate Valentine's weekend and we do not regret our decision. The hotel has been recently remodeled to detail and the resort looks beautiful. The rooms are modern and nicely furnish, although the bed was too firm and uncomfortable for our taste. The location makes up for the uncomfortable bed for sure, the beach in front of the resort is swimmable and beautiful. Another great touch to this resort is the service and friendliness offered by members of the staff. From the moment you check-in the staff start making you feel special. Service at the beach and the main pool is top notch. Waiters at the restaurants are friendly and helpful, especially Gonzalo who made us fell like VIP. Gonzalo went far beyond the call of duty to make us feel especial and he provided us with great information about Mazatlan. Also, the resort follows an appropriate Covid-19 protocol to ensure the safety of their guests and this is a big plus since my wife and I felt safe during our trip during these difficult times. We also had dinner at Casa 46 in Plaza Machado, (a must dining experience!). I was gladly impressed with the resort and I would definitely recommend this resort to family and friends.

We love the spacious and comfy room and things seemed well until we went to Restaurant Cilantros first time for dinner. Food was decent and service was attentive, but unlike others all inclusive beach resorts we used to stay, PBM guests had to sign for every service they enjoy. It was a bit slow and troublesome but we respected such policy, yet we didn’t expect the waiter who brought us the iPad to sign that night, would tell us bluntly how much this dinner would be charged normally , although we are on the all inclusive plan , he still expected us to drop some tips, yes just asked for tips so openly and upfront. My hubby and I felt so awkward and stressed at that moment, as we didn’t carry wallets with us , we thought the wristbands we wore should be good enough to dine everywhere. We have stayed at more than 10 different all inclusive beach resorts in Mexico, but it was the first time to be asked for tips like that.
Another incident was one day when we returned back to our room in the afternoon, the room cleaning was not completely done yet. Next day someone knocked on our door in early morning, just wanted to check with us at what exact hour we would prefer for room cleaning. We were delighted by their considerate service and gave them our preferred schedule, however, when we returned to our room at our regular schedule that day, the cleaning was still ongoing. The cleaning lady told us she hasn’t been informed with our preferred schedule and things like this have occurred many times, she even suggested us to file a report regarding this.
All in all, this is a nice and beautiful resort and most of the staff we encountered were nice and friendly, but the aggressive tips askers and a couple of annoying vendors on the beach ( one came to me three times within a couple of hours despite I firmly said no, thank you, she still kept promoting till I was about to lose temper) added unwanted tension and disappointment at the end.

We stayed here recently and were not blown away by any means. The good parts about this resort is that the service staff was excellent from check in to check out at the front desk. The pool servers very good and attentive to your needs. Our room had a beautiful view and the area we were at in the resort was very quiet from the street noise and was very clean. We really enjoyed the restaurant Cilantro's for breakfast and dinner and for a fancy dinner Angelo's was muy bien! The beach was also a highlight. Beautiful sunsets, easy surf and nice to take a nice leisurely stroll on.
What wasn't good was that when we arrived at our room there were no towels in the bathroom. That was kinda annoying because we had to make a call to house keeping to get some. We also only had one drinking glass and one coffee mug in our room. I guess we were supposed to share these between 2 people? So we made another call to house keeping. And last but not least, we discovered the next morning that our coffee pot was literally cracked and unusable. Another call to house keeping. So in the first 24 hours of being at the resort we had to make 3 calls to house keeping. I will say that all three incidents were handled quickly and I am thankful for that. Attention to the little things would've made a huge first impression. We weren't at all impressed with the buffet. The pool area could also use more lounge chairs. Not nearly enough to handle all the people staying there.
One thing to be aware of and this is not the fault of the resort is that there are Banda Music bands playing a lot on the beach. If you want a quiet time at the beach don't pay these folks to play music, they will never leave.
All in all I would say that it wasn't the best of stays but not the worst either. If your expectations are high you might be disappointed.

Will not be returning. Had a terrible experience trying to relocate over $200 worth of clothing left in room after check out. Called concierge and it took them over 4 hours to send someone to the room to check and by that time the items were gone. So disappointed by their service. We’ve spent thousands of dollars at Pueblo Bonito over the last few years, but this experience made it so that I’ll never return. You would think something as simple as helping your guest get their items left in their room would be done in a timely manner, but they simply don’t care.
Front desk staff and concierge overall is unfriendly and the vibe they put out is horrible for an experience that should be fun and relaxing. They don’t smile and appear to be having a terrible time doing their job.

If you are looking for a place with peace and quiet and privacy and care for children with allergies, no need to read more, this is NOT your resort.
We have been here for four days and we have another three left, but we are exhausted with a loud not stop mariachi right in front of us for almost 6 hrs everyday. They play right in front of you, as it’s a public beach and the resort cannot do anything about it.
If that is not an issue, multiple times we requested cheese free food items and got items full of cheese. I went to report to the manager, and was told that they really cannnot accommodate allergy conditions ( in other resorts, they will give you a band to wear to alert for food allergies). We requested for drinks and was told it’s not available, later when I reported that, they said the waiter did not understand. We asked for an expresso at the pool bar, was told to go order At the restaurant.
The service and the people who are attending are amazing, just quite different from our expectations and what we were set up for. For example, no pool volleyball some days. The activities director prefers bingo.
If you prefer a resort that is loud, filled with happy, nice, local people and ok with vendors walking right up to you when you are relaxing at the beach, this is the place for you. If you prefer, calm, privacy, seclusion, and peace, go somewhere else.
PS. We arrived after a long flight and had to wait for almost two hrs at the registration, as they were busy. Which is fine, but no one offered us a glass/bottle of water, and when we asked for it, we were told we have to register first ( or will they say that they did not understand my English as I was wearing a mask)!

The best thing about Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan is the terrific staff. These people make your entire stay comfortable, professional, and very friendly. The newly remodeled section is beautiful, modern, and has great wifi. Ongoing remodeling of the older section continues. The new Cilantros, and Pescados restaurants are in full operation. Pescados evening menu includes sushi too! From the first person you meet when you arrive, to the last person who hails a taxi for you, all are very experienced to make your vacation one to remember.

Spending the last of our 14 day stay at this wonderful resort. We return here every year because of the wonderful staff. Patti the manager greets you with a warm smile and takes care or your every need. Her staff continues that throughout the stay. From your arrival with Carlos out front and the rest of the crew handle your baggage quickly. Cindy who works the lobby counter, managing un the evenings is so warm and friendly. Jorge at the pool and towel sheds works hard every day with the rest of his crew keeping the pool areas clean and sanitized. He is top notch. Then there is Juan, Oscar, Noe. Alfredo, Antonio and Jesus to name a few of the great guys around the pools who take care of your every food and beverage needs all day. They always greet you with a big smile and welcome you home. It is because of all of them that we have come back here every year for 20 plus years. They make you truly feel at home. They all bust their butts to make sure your stay is a wonderful time. That all have family's to support like the rest of us so treat them kindly with respect and tip as you would at home regardless if you are All Inclusive. They deserve it!!

Best vacation ever! Staff was courteous from very beginning! They upgraded our room at no cost due to the fact that I needed a refrigerator in my room for my sons medication. Housekeeping staff was great, Rosalinda was very helpful and accommodating to our daily needs. Abel the bartender at the Palapa bar was the best! He makes the best drinks and is so courteous and nice! Everyone really makes you feel comfortable and at home! Felt super safe in spite of Covid due to hotel’s protocol. Service at pool is great they bring you drinks and food very quickly and efficiently when you order. Cilantros restaurant is delicious for breakfast, lunch or dinner. But my favorite was Pescados for dinner their sushi is delicious!! Recommend 100 percent and we will definitely be back again!!!
