I was only provided one key card at check-in so my room never really cooled off every time I left it kept getting back up.
I understand it's to save energy and I am environmentally conscious however with the humidity it would have been nice to have a very cool room to come back into.
CONS: Worst pillows and beds you will find. Restaurant food quality is going south fast. WIFI is not good. Cuts out all day and night. Very Frustrating! Also Loud Music early in the morning on occasion on Mother's Day. Also car alarms go off every other morning around 6 am.
My hubby likes his 'bacon and eggs over easy' breakfasts, and after trying two other places, we decided to try the 'Me" restaurant in the hotel. Not only were the staff more than happy to try to please us, but the got hubby's eggs perfect all the time. The staff are always eager to please and we were happy to tip accordingly!
One other drawback is, although there are 'ice-machine' rooms just off the elevators on each floor, the only floor that actually HAD an ice-machine was the 4th floor...and it was usually empty because some idiot would use it and leave the door open on it so that it wouldn't get cold enough to make more ice. Funny how people don't get the concept!!! They said they are in the process of getting machines for all the floors, but haven't yet. Once again, the staff in the restaurant were fantastic if we wanted a bucket of ice in the room.
We are usually the kind of hotel guests that really don't need our room cleaned every day, so we put up the 'do-not-disturb' sign every day, and quickly found out that it means nothing. Although the cleaning gals were great, we really don't like to lock up all our suitcases and put all of our belongings away every single day, nor do we need fresh sheets and towels every day. I think the hotel was mostly empty during the week we were there, so the gals wanted to put in a full-days work and just came in anyway. It was fine, once we realized that, so just and FYI to all of you out there.
As for the review that "didn't know about Mazatlan"....well, if you are looking for nightclubs full of screaming, half-naked young people who are puking all over themselves and spilling drinks everywhere....I'm sure they have them during high-season. But during the off seasons Mazatlan is fairly quiet. We've been to the Mayan Riviera during high-season, and the Dominican during both high and mid season, and Mazatlan during low--mid season twice, and we think it's charming. The people of Mazatlan are much friendlier than in the Mayan, and we safely walked home at 1.a.m several times. There doesn't seem to be much crime or vagrancy in Mazatlan at all. We took the town buses into the heart of the local shopping district without ever feeling unsafe. It is a wonderful place if you want a relaxing vacation. There are lots of things to see and do if you know where to look. Stone Island is beautiful, the historical zone is great, there is parasailing and ultra-light plane rides on the beach. There are booze-cruises, and day trips to Concordia and Copalla, which are two small towns just outside of Mazatlan. Dont be afraid to try something different. And there are lots of Canadian 'Snow-birds' around if you need to talk english to someone and ask directions:):) Thanks to Jeanette and Emery!
