This is a very basic motel on the side of a noisy highway. However, I think some of the reviews here are a bit unfair. I booked here because I couldn't find anywhere else In Summerside or Kensington when I recently planned a last minute trip to PEI. Based on some of the reviews, I was braced for the worst. However, the room was clean, the bed ok, the TV worked, the toilet flushed...what do you expect for $130 in PEI in August? The owners were polite although I admit they didn't exactly exude warmth...

Well located, room with large refrigerator, stove with large oven, meals facilities, comfortable beds, sleeping cough, family owned.
Restaurant on site. Clean room. Good competitive prices for the island.

Ideal to visit the Island at a low cost, well located in the center to the Island.
Could return to the motel every nights and cook your meals with your family.

This motel is about 2km into PEI once you cross the Confedration Bridge. One of the first places to stay once you enter. Boy are these accomadations basic to say the least!
I'll recap my room: Very small springy uncomfortable bed on wheels (a cot i believe).
A dirty chair sitting in corner of room, no desk, table, etc, to put your bag on. Dead hornet on top of my bed was a nice touch. Compact fridge sitting in another corner, which by the way doubled as the TV stand.. and oh, there was no remote control for the T.V. Washroom: no counter to put shaving bag on, had to put on floor, just a tiny sink. This room also had no air conditioning, so you had to leave the window open, problem is noisy trucks zoom by the motel constantly (Potato trucks?), it is on the Trans Canada Hwy after all. Needless to say i did not get a good nights sleep, dingy blankets didn't help either, but oh, they did provide a fan in place of the AC (Arrgh!). It was cheap at $69, but believe it or not, that was overpriced! The sign on the door actually says $50 was the most that could be charged.. oh well.. next time i would sleep in my car rather than stay here... there are some beautiful cheap motels in Summerside 15 minutes a way.. but they were all booked. My recommendation: if this is the only place you can find, then sleep in your car or a park and save your $69.... one last thing, the "Coffee Shop", was closed when i checked in + out, so i can't comment on that.

This motel is definitely showing it's years. Bed covers and linens are very old, paper thin.
The room had a large bed that was showing it's years however I slept like a rock (I also had been driving for 15 hours so it may have been exhaustion).
TV was available however not enjoyable to watch as it was outdated.
Room had an old couch, old dining room table, full fridge and full cooking facilities.
This is a great motel for a family with children as it is very spacious and the cooking facilities are a nice bonus. I was alone and paid $70. ((Can't beat that))
WIFI was very good in the room. This was important to me.

The owner greeted me late and processed me quickly. Service was very friendly!

I can see why they only have a 2 and a half stars. The place is a little on the old fashioned side but it's what i expected for the star rating. Reasonable price for 2 queens and the office hours are later which was nice seeing as we arrived on the island quite late in the evening. We had a family next door with small kids and they only time we could hear them was when we went to the washroom. Walls where thick enough we didn't hear them while we slept. Couldn't hear the highway traffic as our room was on the back on the motel. I do question their cleaning though. When we arrived there was a bug crawling on the tub. Didn't feel updated as the sign out front stated. Also when we did our checks to make sure we hadent forgotten anything I looked under the bed to find someone else's sock, candy wrappers and a mound of dirt. For this reason I rate this place poor.

First I do want to say it is very clean and they are remodeling. Making the reservation was difficult as the person I spoke to on the phone did not understand English very well. When I went to ask for ice I was told it was $2.50 a bag. We paid $70 for the room. When I complained the did give me the ice. We tried to get coffee in the morning several times, but the cafe was not open. If you stay there bring your own ice and coffee.

We were told that the restaurant at this motel would be a good place for us to go get breakfast. We were staying at some beautiful cottages not far from here. We went in and sat down at one of the, I believe it was 3 tables, in the place. There was a woman cooking at the frill behind the counter. After we sat there for quite a while we went to the counter to see if we were supposed to go up to order and was very rudely told that she just had a very big order come in and we would have to wait. We said ok and read the coffee news, the smokers in our group went out and did so leaving us inside to order. We waited and waited. No one took our order or even poured us a cup of coffee. We left hungry and ticked off.

my children and i stayed at the carleton motel last week as we vacationed on pei, i hesitated on the location and considering the price, i really wasnt sure what i would end up with? to my pleasant surprise it was a little outdated but the cottage style room was cozy and really really clean! internet was such a bonus too with a rainy evening and two pre-teens. the staff treated us like royalty! they called us all by name by day two and really went out of their way to help us, suggesting different places to sight see and things they thought would be age appropriate for my children. one of the cleaning staff even helped us pack up our car seeing us struggling to fit all of our luggage and bags back into the car! PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND IS THE PLACE TO VACATION AND THIS IS THE PLACE TO STAY!!!!!!

The furnishings are old and mis-matched, however, our room had two twins and a single; which fit the four of us comfortably. Add in the fridge, microwave and TV and it's possible to over look the stacking chairs and 70's era wainscoting.
Thought being right on the main hwy would be noisy but with the A/C on, it was fine.
Corner Gas, har har. Great help from the ladies at the counter, who embody Maritime hospitality.
