My wife and I stayed at Tirimoana House after the 2020 New Year and we had an extremely enjoyable experience. We had younger family members staying at the campground across the bay and it was great to have everybody close. We went swimming in the sound and in the Tirimoana House pool, hiking on the Queen Charlotte Track (walking distance), dinners at the local pub (can't remember the name but really very good), evening drinks on the Tirimoana House deck overlooking the Queen Charlotte Sound - what else could you ask for? The owners are really nice, friendly and helpful, but not intrusively so. Breakfast is provided and is excellent, but dinner is on your own and the pub is about 10 minutes away.
Being a typical Kiwi place, the owners are doing construction to upgrade the rooms (small bathrooms). It is lovely right now, but will be even better when the upgrade is complete. Note that the construction work is well out of the way and is not a distraction at all. You will be too busy looking at the incredible views !

My husband and I spent 2 nights at Tirimoana B&B. The house is very well situated with a beautiful view down the Queen Charlotte Sound. Our bedroom was very pretty, comfortable and well equipped with a lovely balcony overlooking the view. We enjoyed the pool and walking in the area as well as a visit to the vineyards of Marlborough, a short drive away. What makes Tirimoana particularly special is the warm welcome extended to guests by Dell and Keith. They really went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. We all had evening drinks with them and their other guests ( from Germany, Canada and Finland) on their verandah and they made excellent recommendations about the highlights of the local area. The breakfast was delicious with special shout-out for Dell’s homemade granola and Keith’s excellent scrambled eggs. We appreciated Dell’s recommendation of a restaurant one evening and then enjoyed a platter she prepared for us on the second evening on our balcony looking over the tree ferns out to the water. I really recommend a stay here- 2 to 3 nights at least, leaving more to look forward to for a future date.

The ‘old fashion’ key we received from our hosts Del & Keith unlocked not just great accommodation with a view, but the most hospitable people’s hart. You feel most welcomed in their own private living area; relaxed atmosphere helps you to organise your stay; their attention to details makes your stay more enjoyable. During the ascent on the flight back to Wellington, we saw Anakiwa. Thinking “We have been there” gave us a smile. Pretty sure every time we see Malborough Sounds again, this feeling will come back.

With it's phenomenal views straight down Queen Charlotte Sound and it's proximity to the start of the Queen Charlotte Track, Tirimoana House could hardly be bettered. Keith and Delwyn were the perfect hosts, welcoming, friendly and informative (not forgetting the terrific breakfast).
Accessed via the scenic wonders of the Queen Charlotte Drive, whether approached from Picton or Havelock, Tirimoana House is an idyllic base for exploration or just 'loafing'.

Wish we could have stayed longer in this idyllic home from home!
Our Queen Charlotte Suite was just beautiful with great views and easy access to lovely garden, pool and hot tub.
However, "Stars of the Sound" were our lovely host Michelle and hubbie! Michelin Star food and great craic! Particularly enjoyed the company of the other German guests and sharing all our travels around the table. Labour of love and laughter - recommend this top stop to anyone.
Thank you so much Michelle!

We stayed for 2 nights in the suite which is in the upstairs front room. It is very spacious with 2 rooms and a big sitting area facing a very beautiful bay and a big balcony.

The hotel is located out of town, Havelock, in the beginning of the sound area. It takes 1/2 hour to drive to Havelock where you can find activity centres, supermarket and restaurants. We are so glad that we stay here because we love the tranquility and the scenery. The drive is very nice as there are many beautiful and exotic plants along the road. There are also nice walks near the B & B according to some of the guests.

We had lunch at the mussel place restaurant (can't remember the name) in town with big green mussels decoration. You won't miss it. Green mussels are famous here and they are very tasty and big. We had dinner at the B & B and the hostess, Michelle cooked excellent food and we were impressed.

We also did river kayaking by Pelorus Eco Adventures in Havelock. It is just excellent fun for the whole family kayaking gently through beautiful sceneries and we even swam in the river.

Breakfast and dinner are served outside in the terrace facing the sound if weather permits. It is stunningly beautiful. Breakfast is also very good. The hosts are very welcoming and kind.

There is also a hot tub and swimming pool. We tried the hot tub which is very nice and overlooking the mountain and the sound. The B & B is a bit expensive for the decoration and the room but it does have a stunning view if you stay upstairs and is an excellent location with very good breakfast and great hospitality!

Dear Celine, Thank you so very much for writing such an extensive review and rating us so highly. As you have acknowledged the views from Tirimoana House are spectacular and the surrounding area is truly a Paradise. It was a pleasure to offer our hospitality and I am especially pleased you enjoyed the gourmet style breakfast and evening meals. The Restaurant you dined at in Havelock is called the Mussel Pot and as you have noted the mussels are very big, but also extremely tasty. Thank you once again for choosing to stay at Tirimoana House and your very complimentary review. Kind Regards Michelle

Spent New Year's Eve in this stunningly located B&B. We had the benefit of staying in a room at the front of the house which has amazing views of Okiwa bay. We arrived in the late afternoon on New Year's Eve without any dinner plans and luckily the hosts were preparing a delicious home made meal which we had the pleasure of enjoying. The next morning we had a delicious cooked breakfast and were able to walk the queen Charlotte track which is really close to the accommodation. Highly recommend this place if you want a quiet and peaceful stay.

Recently as a gift we were given a nights accommodation at Tirimoana House, we were lucky enough to stay in the upstairs front room which had stunning views across Anakiwa bay, just so beautiful. Our hostess - Michelle, was very friendly and is a surperb chef! Our dinner and breakfast were just lovely, so tasty and beautifully set out, including floral arrangements, etc....
Thank you Michelle for having us to stay in your lovely home, such a slice of paradise!

We throughly enjoyed our 2 nights spent with Michelle at Tirimoana house as the effort she puts in to creating an amazing experience. From the breathtaking views from the bedrooms to the amazing cooked breakfasts with fresh herbs from Michelle's garden - incredible.
We were offered a cooked dinner for token fee, which i can say pound for pound one of the best meals i have ever eaten - fresh local salmon seared and placed on a bed of seasoned wild rice.
If you are planning a trip, do yourselves a favour and book at Tirimoana House.
