Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After a slightly confusing start when we were given one room then told it wasn't that one & shown to another to be told it wasn't that one either! - we finally settled into a very nice room with a brilliant bathroom/shower. The only trouble was that it was on the 2nd floor (the hotel does have a lift!)more or less in the eaves & the day had been excruciatingly hot - so the room was also very hot.
We had dinner outside & were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. The portions were huge, however, so be warned!!
The hotel is basically a station hotel - but is excellent value & comfortable (& we never heard any trains despite the proximity to the station)

I went on a business trip and stayed there for two nights.
Had a single room, was a bit small - but okay its a single room.
The hotel and room are super clean. The room seemed to be newly furnished.
Everything went perfectly well and the staff was really helpful and friendly.
Didn't had a chance to take dinner there, but the restaurant was crowded so I think that says a lot.

The best part of this hotel is the owner. He cooks (very well, we enjoysed some really great food for a ridiculously inexpensive price) and he manages the front desk. He, as well as his staff, are warm, friendly, and eager to make sure the guests get the best experience possible. We arrived to find our room reservation a bit confused. The owner was expecting two guests without conjugal interests while we are in fact married. (Who knows where the misunderstanding began, we're still learning how to reserve rooms in Europe so it could easily be the fault was on our side.) The owner had set aside two single bed rooms across the hall from each other. As it was late in the day, we were in a take it or leave it situation. The owner offered to make up the difference if we were to try our chances at another hotel in town but we decided to take it. The owner picked up our wine charge at dinner in compensation for our troubles. The rooms were great, the trains were quiet, and our bikes were safely stored for us overnight. This is not a chain hotel, it is a guy who cooks up some great food and makes guests feel very welcomed.

Shower hot and cold, you can't adjust the room temperature. The room is much too cold. Breakfast is a disaster, old sausage and bad bread rolls.
The restaurant is impossible... The landlord reaches into the plate and grabs a French fry?!?!
The landlord is very unpleasant... only bearable when he's drunk late in the evening.

For a meeting around Lauingen I had to find a nice place to stay. Ended up at Kastanienhof (also because I read some good reviews) I have to say that I was not dissapointed.
I had a single room which has been recently renovated and although the room was not big, everything you was there. Nice wide bed, desk, flatscreen tv, design sink etcetera. The wifi in the room is for free, I had some problems getting online but the owner immediatly solved the problem. One thing I did not like was the clock which was inside the mirror. The digits where in blue and this lit up the room at night quite a lot. I did not find the "off" button for this....
The breakfast had a very big variety in choices.
All in all it was a very good stay.

I only stayed one night. But this hotel is a great value. Clean rooms and a typical German breakfast buffet. The hotel has an attached Beergarten (outdoor seating area) behind the hotel. Perfect for dinning and having a couple drinks. We god the special treatment from the hotel owner – a warm welcome and a free snaps.
