This campsite is outstanding, The washroom / dishwashing facilities etc are the best I've ever seen on a campsite. They were also cleaned with impressive regularity! The drying room is hugely helpful if you experience wet weather and other bonuses are washing machines and dryers, fridge and freezer in the camping field and electric hook ups. Added to this are the friendliest, hardest working hosts in Scott and Lorraine and you cannot fail to have a great time (even if you get rained on. A lot. And your tent leaks a bit! ) Cannot wait to go back. Thanks!

After arriving in some miserable weather we were greeted by Lorraine and Scott, couldn't ask to meet nicer people and nothing was too much trouble. Had issues with my awning and Lorraine offered Scott's services to take a look.
New shower facilities which are by far the best in the UK, no silly button to keep pressing for water and huge cubicles complimented by a decent shower that clearly money wasn't an issue on fitting.

Good all round facilities including a drying room.

All in all a near perfect stay if the weather was kinder but the hosts soooo made up for this.

Keep up the good work Scott and Lorraine as you're a credit to the site

A lovely site with a very warm welcome. The hosts Scott and Lorraine make the experience of arriving very easy and welcoming. The new showers are amazing and the site as always offers a great place to go off exploring on foot, on bikes, on kayaks. Great for families. Beautiful setting, we will never get bored of this place. Thank you for your breath of fresh air.

We camped - gorgeous view over the sea and plenty of space. The site team were extremely friendly and welcoming and we couldn’t get over their incredible dedication to keeping the showers and toilets clean - there was someone cleaning every time we went in! We stayed for 7 nights and had a comfortable and relaxing stay. Great location for outdoor sports too. Thank you!

Arrived late to site due to diversions etc, Scott and Loraine could not be more helpful and accommodating. This site is peaceful, spotless and has character.Everyone who worked there could not be more helpful and polite. Plenty to do and see round about with lovely walks and only 5 minute walk down a track to the beach, deffo will book again and I hope the site does not go down the commercial route as it is spot on in every way..we had serious rain the first day and the fields didn't Waterlog as many do..Overall experience was AAA+

We just spent 3 nights at Castlepoint and as usual, after reading a few negative reviews I was worried about the facilities. However, I found the complete opposite, we camped on the top field and the facilties were brilliant, modern, clean and everything worked i.e the toilets flushed, the showers were hot, the hand dryers worked. The site can't be blamed for guests not cleaning up after themselves, there are mops and buckets outside the showers that when used clearly leave the shower area smelling clean.

Just to add, there are private toilet and sink facilities in addition to toilet cubicles and the showers are all private wet rooms with lockable door.

I was impressed with the campsite itself as the grass was kept short and neat, I had visions of unkempt grassy areas and us having wet feet and shoes but not the case at all.

Admittedly its not particularly close to shops and attractions but I can't imagine people stay at Castlepoint without the use of a car.

There are a couple of children's play areas that my children enjoyed but I think a few more play equipment items would be good on the top field though.

Staff were a visible presence on site each day and were friendly and approachable.

We left this morning and realised on out journey home my fairly new Regatta walking shoes were put just under the car as we took the tent down in case it rained and we drove off forgetting them so I hope someone found them and decided to keep them!

Stayed here the week leading up to August Bank holiday, weather wasn't great and pitches were very wet, although they dried out very quickly when the rain stopped. The scenery on the doorstep is stunning with many lovely beaches a short walk away. This is a quiet gem, our kids were never bored despite not park or arcade!

There are very good facilities including a drying room, laundry and dish washing room. Showers are new and very clean. Wardens were very helpful, its their first year and they are making a great difference, working though very minor issues one by one.

Would be good to get a small number of hard standing pitches.

One tip would be not to leave any food in your awning as we had a badger visit us through the night on a food raid.

We will return!

We have visited this site for 9 years with no concerns however this year we feel a previously excellent, well maintained site is slipping down the ratings due to poor cleanliness in the toilet / shower blocks and kitchen area. The previous wardens kept the shower/ toilet blocks absolutely sparkling- closing everyday at a regular time to allow deep cleaning.

Not so with the new set up. We hope these errors can soon be rectified to ensure a beautiful site does not begin to fail as it is the most beautiful small site in a wonderful location.

This is what we found/ observed :
1. taps, sinks, windows, doors, sanitary bins, floors dusty for days, not sure floors were washed/ disinfected
2. taps and shower taps, sinks grubby and dusty, not sparkling
3. toilet bowls not cleaned properly -needing brushed and bleached
4. cistern leaking and not repaired or drips emptied over the week.
5. no hot water in main block for 4 of 8 days stay
6. not enough plugs in hand basins
7. no cold water in laundry all week
8. kitchen area not obviously cleaned
9. woodstore and games room lights on and doors open 11.30pm at night

it just all looked a bit grubby and this was such a shock compared to previous experiences.

Beautiful little site. Really friendly helpful staff - a particular mention to Scott who despite always having something to do would happily chat and give local advice. The on site showers and toilet blocks we’re immaculately clean and well stocked and there is a fridge and freezer should you want to use them. The only drawback was no recycling at all but can’t fault anything else. Can’t wait to visit again in August. Well done team!!

We arrived as a hopeless camping couple and left feeling like Bear Grylls and his wife. We had never camped before by ourselves and decided it would be sensible to do it on a rainy weekend in Scotland.. we honestly could not have managed this trip without the support from Scott, Lorraine and Davey. Both Scott and Davey spent an hour helping us put up our tent in pouring rain, getting themselves soaked and genuinely brightening up this experience for us.
Although we thought we were prepared.. we weren’t! However this wasn’t a problem, as both Lorraine and Scott provided everything that we could possibly need for a comfortable warm stay, absolutely nothing was too much and we couldn’t been more grateful as I think we’d have packed up and gave in otherwise. They have everything just right, always a shout away if you need any help but didn’t interfere at all which made us feel like the Bear Grylls we thought we would.

The campsite itself is situation in the most beautiful place, with views of the sea and beautiful walks around to Kipford and Rockcliffe! The area is really quiet and secluded but so beautiful!!

We couldn’t recommend this place anymore, we will deffo return next year!

Thank you again for all of your help! :)

Is there nearby place to eat ? Thank you

There’s two small cafes, one in Rockcliffe, and one just where you turn off the main road to Rockcliffe. Then there’s a pub and Café in Kippford which is a nice walk down the coastal path or a short drive. Other than that there are takeaways in Dalbeattie which is a 10 min drive
