Beautiful hotel near Carriacou's main town of Hillsborough. The rooms are large and clean. Carriacou isn't the type of place where the hotels are secluded from its residents - nor would you want to be! The hotel is charming, near buses, stores, and restaurants. In fact, there is a little shop a few feet across the road that sells beer and a delicious food called roti bread.

My view was of a house with cute sheep grazin. The best part of the hotel are Anique and Latoya - who attend to your every need. No e-mail or call goes unaddressed and response time is quick. Thank you for a great stay.

Both the man and the nice four-legged employees were friendly. He showed us the way to the room and the cats waited outside the door. The restaurant was closed when we arrived and it was not easy to find any place which served food. The hotel didn't serve any breakfast.

Staff are friendly, welcoming and go out of their way to assist. Restaurant food was delicious and carried just the right amount of seasoning. Hotel apartment clean, fresh with ample of room to relax. Scenery amazing and breathetaking.

Local shopping area adjacent in Hillsborough. An excellent location to stay when visiting Carriacou.

Anique was very communicative and friend. She made my holiday by upgrading my room. The hotel is a minute walk from the beach. Hillsborough is a great base for exploring the rest of the island. The accommodation was clean and had all the facilities I needed. Would definitely come again

Great rooms, lots of space. Very large kitchen and nice bathroom. Everything was clean, we had plenty of towels and such, air conditioner in every room. Room service was hit or miss but the front desk was awesome. Would definitely stay here again

We arrived on the evening ferry about 8.30pm. The hotel was deserted. After stamping around and calling out, 'Miss Jones' the manageress appeared and checked us in. A meal? No chance, the dining room had been cleared in preparation for a Valentines Day Day event a couple of days later. When we explained that we had been travelling all day and wished to eat, Miss Jones offered to bring a meal to our room. Perhaps things were looking up. Two chicken drumsticks arrived, with chips, in fast-food style styrofoam containers. Not what we had been expecting from the biggest hotel on the island.

Breakfast was meagre, the bacon rated somewhere between over-crispy and charred to death. Service was desultory, slow and lacked any professional polish. We chose to eat out for our remaining meals.

A notice in the room warned that if we left the air-con running when we left the room, staff would remove the remote control! We all recognise that energy resources are precious on such a small island but is that the best way to encourage guests? We solved the issue by taking the remote with us when we went out!

To conserve water, all the taps spring shut when you let go, making it tricky to rinse your hands. Tip - use the shower, that runs freely.

We had planned to explore the island over Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We had toured the island and seen everything by Friday afternoon. The taxi that we booked for a half day tour drove as slowly as he dare and completed the circuit in less than two hours!

I notice that more recent reviewers write more positively of the Hotel Laurena. Perhaps things have improved. I doubt they could have got any worse at the time of our visit.

I stayed at Hotel Laurena in August 2013 for the regatta celebrations. We called the hotel from Grenada which was our base, spoke to Joel who was very helpful when making the arrangements. Easy to find as it's a short walk from the ferry. On arrival we were seated in an air conditioned office and served tea, which I though was lovely after a rough trip on the ferry.
We were shown to the apartment we had booked which was very clean and fresh and most of all cool due to the air conditioning.

Staff were helpful throughout especially the lady who cleans the apartments. They responded well when contacted via phone which was in the apartment to deal with a blocked toilet on our last day.
I do feel the staff should be more informed on local event especially mostly tourist stay at the hotel and want to know times and dates of events. Thanks to the friendly locals all inquiries resolved.
Front balcony was nicely positioned but back balcony less to be desired.
Kitchen well equip with all you need so you have the choice to rustle up a meal. Two supermarkets in short walking distance to pick up all the essentials.
We would stay again only thing is quite pricey during regatta but all other apartments/hotels seem to put their prices up.

Hotel Laurena is the single worst hotel I have ever been to. I have traveled the world, including staying at hotels in China, New Zealand, Europe and South America. I have stayed at various hotels including no star to 5 star elegant hotels. I have never been around a more unprofessional manager than the one I came in contact with at Hotel Laurena. The way she talked to her guests was unbelieveable. She had no regards for the customers that were eating. She was rude and very unpleasant, disrupting the mood at several events at the hotel. I overhead other guests replying that she owns the hotel and that is her style of language. Throughout my stay, this manager consistenly was rude and always hovering around making it uncomfortable to enjoy my stay. I spent most of my vacation away from the hotel and ended up enjoying other activities Carriacou had to offer. Overall, Carriacou is a wonderful island with a very friendly atmosphere. I only hope that they think about getting new management for Hotel Laurena, because overall the Hotel itself is beautiful. The outside draws you in, but the inside runs you out. It is a great place to come for the summer and relax as long as that particular manager is off duty.

I booked a room in February for April despite a previous stay which was certainly not of the best but a convenient position. I eventually received an email confirming the booking.

In April I checked my booking only to be met with confusion by the staff and delay after delay from Joel Noel as to the bookings certainty. In addition the hotel had changed its telephone number!

I have lived in the Caribbean for seven year or more and am used to a certain amount of inefficiency and inability but this took the prize.

Don't touch the place with a bargepole.

Great Location! Stayed at Laurena for a business trip. Am a Grenadian and repeat guest. My 1st visit was June 2013 and I was very impress with the professionalism of Mr. Noel hence I decided to book directly through him for my return. I made reservation for 2 rooms a couple days before my arrival and once again he was very helpful. On our arrival at the hotel, staff seemed to be unaware of our booking but tried to help. We waited for about 20 minutes until the Manager/owner arrived. I followed her to an office and was told that I had no reservation hence I will be considered as a "walk-in". I explained that I made reservation through Mr. Noel prior to my arrival. she explained that I did not leave a credit card (I was never asked for one)so my reservation would have been cancelled. After about an hour the rooms were ready. The bathroom in one of the rooms was dirty and seemed to be under maintenance, we immediately asked for another option and was quoted a charge of EC$30 extra for adjacent room since we wanted room close by. At this time we were ready to check out when Mr. Noel appeared and saved the day... Finally someone apologised! He gave options and eventually the situation was resolved with no extra cost. The final room was spacious and comfortable however there were signs of roaches dropping many places which we sorted ourselves. A few other problems which Mr. Noel dealt with immediately. The 3 stars is for the service received from Mr. Noel who apologised everyday until my day of departure.
