Ladera is the pioneer of the open air three-walled concept in St. Lucia and has since been distinguished by a wide range of international publications, awards and accolades from Conde Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, Forbes Life Caribbean Travel and Life, Brides Magazine and countless others. Ladera was once part of Rabot Estate, one of Soufriere's oldest plantations, which still borders the resort. In the late 1960's a parcel of land was sold and developed into a small cluster of condominiums and christened Dasheene, named after the thousands of large, glossy-leafed dasheen plants (also known as elephant ears) harvested on the site. In 1982 it was transformed into a unique resort and changed hands a number of times before emerging as Ladera under the current private ownership. The mission has always been to offer an unparalleled guest experience that is quintessentially Saint Lucian, one that embraces the magnificent views and offers harmony with the surrounding natural beauty and rich bounty of the island. Today, that commitment to sumptuous authenticity is evident in everything from the innovative renderings of fresh local dishes at Dasheene restaurant, to the use of Caribbean timbers, stone and tile work used in the guestrooms and public areas. Yet it shines through most effectively with warm and welcoming Saint Lucian staff.

We enjoyed Ladera hotel, our room and views of Pitons. Food at Ladera needs an upgrade. Almost impossible to find fresh seafood dishes, salads and tropical fruits even though you are in a 5stars hotel located in tropics and paying top priced. Even an orange juice Ladera serves

Stayed at Ladera for 3 nights in March. I would definitely rate this as one of our best trips and Ladera as one of the best resorts we have stayed at. We travel a decent amount and the hospitality we received from the staff at Ladera definitely was above any other place. The

I didn't see that room, unfortunately. I don't know the price difference between the rooms but the bext part of staying at the Ladera is the open view room. That's what made it magical for me. You can always go the restaurant and see the spectacular views and stay in another hotel. But if you are going to stay there and can do it, I would splurge.

We just stayed in this suite a few weeks ago. It does have A/C, open-wall concept. Considering the location of the other suites, we liked that it was a short walk to the restaurant, pool, reception & taxi pick-up. It is somewhat of a hike only because the walk is steep. It’s short though. The room offers a canopy covered bed, fridge, sink, coffee maker, wardrobe, safe, and outdoor shower. The deck next to the private pool has 2 lounge chairs and nonstop views of both pitons. We loved Ladera. The staff was wonderful.

with the cost of the restaurants at many of the other hotels and resorts. If you really want to have variety, then you may want to opt out of a meal plan. But, going out to dinner entails getting a cab (assuming you didn't drive yourself) and travelling a good distance over mountain roads to get to a restaurant, and back again. There are a couple of resorts nearby with restaurants, but not many. We found the hassle of the trip every time we left the resort wasn't worth it.

We had zero security concerns staying here. To enter the resort you need to get through a “toll” area where the driver has to tell the attendant the names of the hotel guests or dinner reservation guests in the car and that’s how people are let in. Our rooms are locked and it’s nearly impossible for anyone but a bird to come into the open wall. :)
