Our entire family met here for a week for my sister's 50th wedding anniversary. The celebration was held at their seaside bar. Food was excellent and they did a great job arranging everything for the party with a tent, tables, and chairs (with table cloths and runners) for 75 people. Drinks, food, music, and even a bonfire made it a special evening . We stayed in the honeymoon suite which was spacious and in a great location on the property. The Westender is on the cliffs but provided easy shuttle service to the beach which was gated and protected with a bar, restroom, and service for chairs, umbrellas, etc. My sister and her husband have been staying here every winter since 1987, hence their choice of the Westender for their anniversary celebration. There are a lot of activities in the area and a visit to YS Falls was a long drive but well worth it.…
just back from another trip to the Westender for a week and had a perfect time! The hotel is a couple miles outside Negril away from all the noise and people of the big tourist zones. We spent our days lounging in the salt water pools and eating really good food at the on site restaurant. We had fresh tuna one night, really good jerk chicken another, fruit plates and calaloo omlets with homemade toast in the mornings, and fresh produce from their on site garden, The grounds are immaculate with beautiful and interesting plant life.If you pay attention there is a great bird population around:mocking birds, conures ,hawks, pelicans, and so many more. We made one day trip to Half Moon bay for some sandy beach time, its a secluded jungle with a big shallow sandy bay and a little bar and restaurant, another great place to get away from the crowds. The Westender isn't perfect, there will be a window that won't open or a light that won't work but they are just small things that don't really matter. The bed was comfortable (I'm picky) The nights were Quiet except the frogs and the ocean.Of corse we"ll be back!…
Great staff who were very accomodating. Love that it's out of the way! Two free shuttles a day and shuttle somewhat on demand made getting everywhere easy, including the gro ery store! Food good, salt pools fun, on site bar looking over the water and the gorgeous sunsets is perfect!
We probably stayed in the only room with no balcony (#15) but enjoyed a stellar view of the sea and property nonetheless. The staff were a combating and the food excellent. A great retreat. Lose to Negril but avoiding all of the bustle of the city.
A life changing view and scenery., Westender Inn is a hidden jewel in the Deep West End. Multiple pools and perches to swin and sun bathe. One perch is situated over a blow hole and each with a wave comes in the air rushes up thru the blow hole. The bar is nice and refreshing with a friendly bartender who mised up some fine drinks. Well worth the drive to spend the day listening to the waves crash against the rocks.
We had such a great time at the Westender Inn. The staff went out of their way to make us feel like family. The hotel was quite and has lush beautiful botanical gardens. I felt like I was in a tropical fairy tale. I left the Westender feeling more relaxed than I have ever been. The ocean sounds from my balcony had me sleeping like a baby. I have already booked my trip for next year and I cannot wait to come back. Thank you Westender for the best trip of my life!!!
My husband and I have traveled to Negril numerous times. We finally found the Westender Inn! If you are looking for the perfect sunset and relaxation, this is the spot! Everyone from the staff to the owners were so friendly and accommodating. This is the perfect combination of water access and the cliffs. Picture perfect areas that offer beautiful views of the Atlantic and across the way green space and cliffs. This is the spot for relaxation. It was the most serene place we've stayed in Jamaica. We've always felt safe, and this place was no different. We love interacting with the locals and their shuttles are a big plus to being able to go to 7-mile beach. We definitely plan on going back as soon as we can.
I cannot say enough about the staff. They are very friendly and accommodating. There is an hourly shuttle that starts at 10:00 until 8:00. It’s $5 each way into town. The one disappointment I have is the food. The menu doesn’t vary, and they need to have more vegetarian options. It is inexpensive however, so if you’re looking for a bargain, you’ll get it. I recommend going into town to the Blue Maho or Ivan’s. Delicious! Also, there is no Sandy beach, so you need to shuttle to Whistling bird beach. The water at the inn could be rough. Not for inexperienced swimmers! No lifeguard either. The cottage we were in for 3 days was comfortable, but you have to walk across a field, then across the street to get to the beach area. The inn on the beach was nice, but smelled a bit moldy.…
Such a lovely spot in Negril, very quiet and beautiful grounds. The staff and food are fantastic and the shuttles to and from Seven Mile beach are a great bonus. We also loved the beach access that you get at the Whistling Bird, which in our opinion is the best spot on Seven Mile Beach. We stayed in Cabin 7 at the Westender, the 2 bedroom cottage on the garden side. Perfect for our needs, nice and peaceful and the best part about it was watching the hummingbirds each morning from our veranda. We have loved every second of our 2 weeks in Negril / The Westender and will definitely return!
We have just come back from our fourth saty at the Westender and I am already looking forward to the fifth. There is a perfect balance with the hotel being far enough out of Negril to avoid the over-touristy and sterile resort hotels in the centre, but not too far so as to prevent access to the restaurants and beaches. The product is a really relaxing stay. The staff are super-friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the food (especially breakfast) is fantastic (I always go for the Jamaican breakfasts) and the grounds are superbly kept. There is not really a beach as such but don't let this put you off as the pool is great and there is a cove for swimming and snorkling (quite a lot of fish on show). And lastly...the sunsets - they are the same as Rick's which is just down the road but a lot calmer. I can never have enough evenings watching the sunsets with a redstripe in hand from the bar…
