After a not so good stay at another local hotel last year, I decided to try this newly built hotel. I hadn’t even noticed that they were building this hotel on my last visit to Kingston. This hotel (in my opinion) is mainly geared towards business travellers. Check in was swift and I was given directions to my room on the fifth floor. The room on first impression was very appealing. On closer inspection there were lots of scuff marks and large cracks on the wall, which I wouldn’t have expected in such a new building. The room was spacious, very well presented and had a balcony. The AC worked perfectly which was appreciated in the heat. The room came equipped with a digital Safe, ironing facilities, daily complementary water and a coffee machine with pods. There were no slippers or robes provided. I noticed on the ground floor towards the gym, there was a guest laundry room. The Hotel’s daily breakfast didn’t look particularly appealing to me and I chose to have a traditional Jamaican breakfast at the Spanish Court Hotel and Eden Gardens Resort, which were both within walking distance. The hotel’s dining area was always busy when I was there and lots of people were actually eating. My cousin had the burger and said it was fantastic. My sea salted potatoes and salad were just okay. In summary I would definitely recommend this hotel despite the cost and the incessant lounge music that follows you everywhere. For the price they should also automatically include breakfast.

The hotel decor is nice and contemporary. The bar is nice, but no room service. What saved the day for me and my family was we had a wonderful room attendant/ housekeeper. She treated us as family. She did whatever she could to make sure my room and other family members rooms were cleaned and well maintained. She is quiet and shy, but when asked for any supplies for the room she was always willing to assist.

I must say that her integrity is impeccable. I travel various parts of the world as a business traveler and never experienced the level of integrity displayed. I personally forgot to put my money (US$) in the safe, I forgot it on the desk and when I returned it was all there. My family members also mentioned the same about their jewelry.

Often times we state what our bad experiences and never highlight the good. This housekeeper must be commended. Her name is Ms. Camarsha. Great job AC Hotel. You definitely have a gem in that employee. From my family we say thank you and we appreciate your great service. Happy holidays!

Our stay at the AC Hotel was absolutely wonderful. The location is pretty close to many attractions around Kingston and they have taxi services available on the hotel grounds. The food was absolutely amazing and the drinks were strong and ice cold! I like the big bar that they have and the seating area outside it just makes the hotel a nice place to relax and vibe. I loved the AC so much I extended my stay by 2 nights! The oxtail meal was really good and if you can try the Kingston mule drink it was very refreshing! The room was absolutely beautiful very spacious and I fell in love with the bathroom and the shower specifically the room was cleaned everyday and stocked up with new towels and water. What was also a plus is the hotel does Covid testing on site for your flight which was really appreciated. The only knock I would give this hotel is not offering free breakfast but other than that I would 10/10 stay here every time I come to Jamaica.

Arriving, no porter service.Small supermarket trolleys are available if you can find one!
Having pushed your luggage to the room (falling off various times because the trolley is to small), the next surprise is there are no closed cupboards, like in cheap budget hotels all cloth remains on open hangers.
When I checked into 620, my client had only paid for the room and breakfast was to be paid a la carte ( grossly overpriced), and when I asked to include breakfast for my 7 nights stay I was told “that the system does not allow this”.
I never heard of such nonsense, obviously the hotel makes more money with a la carte orders.
I wanted to send some couriers (fedex, dhl, etc. To my London and Paris offices and the front office told me” you have to do this yourself by getting on the internet”.
My Philippine offices send an email to me through the hotel email address.
It did not arrive because “the email is restricted”.
I had to ask individual staff members for their personal email addresses.
Very frustrating.
On the positive, Ms. Shantal Wellington stood out as a friendly and concerned member of staff assisting all other enquiries.
There is no proper Restaurant in the hotel, it is a wild mix of tables serving as a lobby, coffee shop and Restaurant.
The tables are cheap pressed wood and it is obvious that this hotel is managed by designers not guest services.
A lot of artefacts places through the lobby, a tiny reception desk with maximal 2 staff (mostly only on duty), causing endless waiting.
The food (although over priced) was very good on all occasions, waiter services were slow at all times.
Waiters are often falling over each other as they have divided the services areas between them.
Some staff members are very friendly, most look unhappy and discontent.
The hotel has “ no Jamaica hospitality atmosphere at all”.
Everything is designed like hospital or office block, all white and static, just very formal with little emotional touch.
I could have been in a New York City hotel, the ambiance would not have been much different at all.

Dear LondonWolfeee, Thank you for sharing your candid views on your experience with us in Kingston. I apologize for your experience, and I definitely see opportunities for us to provide you with more prompt service and attention. I am thrilled to read you enjoyed our food offerings. The design of the hotel is geared to Marriott's design for the AC Brand, and AC Lounge is a concept forthcoming from the design. I am sorry it wasn't to your liking. I will ensure to thank Shantell for her service and attention, and wish you safe and healthy travels in these times. Regards, Koen

Fourth visit to this hotel. Third time staying at the hotel. Previous times were pre covid. Actually stayed here on their second night being open. Disappointed with this trip. First, the room is impeccable, so five stars for that and kudos to housekeeping. Also, kudos to the bartenders. Always a great experience with them. The front desk staff however? Its a no for this trip. Checked in Saturday evening about 8pm after traveling the entire day. This is apparently their dance night. The dj/music thing was extremely loud and annoying so much so that the front desk guy had to walk around the counter to talk to me and I still couldn't hear him. When I asked about the volume of the music. He just said yes thats what they do on Fridays and Saturdays, thats why he walks around to talk to me. No apology for the loudness, just yeah thats what we do here. Secondly, this hotel actually charges you on arrival, not on checkout. When I asked about that (that was not my experience on my previous stays), he said yes that is how this Marriott does it. Again, no warmth or apology.
When I first drove up in my rental, one of the guards told me to pull to the front, check in and then drive to the parking lot, so I did. While I was checking in another guard at the door came over and told me I needed to come move my car. Same guard I just walked by, who did my temp and told me sanitize and mask at all times. Who I just told I was just checking in to come back. Ok. So I moved the car, parked, walked back to hotel, went to my room and went back downstairs to get some food, nobody besides the workers are wearing masks. So was that directive just for me? So one of the issues is, too many people at the hotel who aren't staying at the hotel, so all parking taken, all seats in the lobby taken. Is the Ac hotel catering to people like me spending almost $300 a night, or someone who came into the bar to have a couple of drinks and listen to some loud ass music? Is it a hotel or a club. I've been a Marriott rewards member for over fifteen years. Highly unlikely I'll come back here. You cannot be all things to all people. You're either a business/family hotel or a party hotel. I'll stay at the courtyard down the street next time. I haven't had a bad experience there yet.

I took a vacation during the whole pandemic and I must say this hotel is very clean and safe mask being worn by every staff member and guest I’ve seen in lobby, temperature checks for everyone that enters the hotel . Tables and chairs being sanitized Around the clock . I don’t even feel this safe from COVID 19 in USA . As always my stay is always pleasant big up Vonosha ,Mark the night audit ,Joffrey. All the associates at the bar . Most of them even remember my last name from the last visit . I am Jamaican by birth with many families homes that I could of stayed for free but the service I received here is priceless .

Me and my 2 sisters went to Kingston to find our roots. Not Rastafarian, nor Sub-Saharan, but Jewish. Kingston had a super large Jewish Community by the 18-19-20th Century. Most of them left and there are only 200 remaining. But they still have a cute synagogue with sand floor.
We stayed at the AC for 4 nights and it was so much fun. The Lobby bar is like a hot place because of the reasonable priced drinks, the music, the pool integrated with the nearby deck. Even if you don’t stay at the AC, it’s a must to have a few drinks and enjoy a classy lifestyle. The locals behave very well, you may find some girls dressed to pick up some guys, but they do it with respect and without causing any discomfort.
The rooms are what you would expect from a new Marriott. Super well designed and high quality everything. The personal that works for the hotel is super friendly. Breakfast is buffet and some a la carte. During the day they serve food at the lounge but there is no restaurant as such since it’s a business hotel.
I want to go back.

Ok, this is the type of service you expect from a transient resort but yet they do go above and beyond. Lovely rooms, spacious and very well cleaned. Safe issue relayed on arrival into room and within minutes there were a maintenance technician who was very polite and had the issue rectified in a timely manner.

The cleaners did an amazing job and were super hospitable (differently i recommend a sign be placed on the door once the cleaning is completed as if you do enter behind the cleaners the floors is unknowingly wet and can cause an accident.

The Food & Beverage is quite good and although menu options are a bit limited, the quality is very consistent.

Employees to remember is Alexa at the desk who went above and beyond in ensuring issues reported to the desk, are follow-up on and the customer is aware of the status! brilliant communication and thoroughness.
New male staff at the desk who recently moved to Kingstown was super assertive and efficient, although he had limited knowledge of Kingstown and landmarks in the area, he politely went to the back to have another employee assist with directions and landmarks.

A short trip but memorable because of the quality of employees and services. Yes, i would return!

When you enter it feels like total opulence clean friendly and simply elegant.
We were checked in by Shatel Wellington front desk supervisor she was kind quick and willing to help.
We spent time here during covid a we felt safe the food was delicious and worth the money drinks were yummy Kingston Mule is a must.
The room was beautiful and the bed huge and clean. We had a balcony room it was lovely watching the sun rise there. You must visit this hotel whenever you visit Jamaica and God spare life I will be back.
Thank you to all the team there.
