Had a great time, the workers are very friendly and helpful. Clean and cosy rooms. Close to shopping area and the wonderful beach. A peaceful place if you want a restful vacation. Sure want to visit again.

Be ready for a steep hike to these cottages - not fun to do with luggage.

The best part of South Winds is the location and the staff - Mandy and Chantal are super nice.

The person who owns the hotel is a politician and former tourist minister - he needs to improve the quality of furnishings!

The place is in dire need of renovations and I think even for the current price, it is over priced. Water issues exist - they run on a solar system but the water pressure is very bad (some days, very little comes out) and hot water does not exist. Maybe lukewarm. Bathroom over all needs a re-make as it is pretty basic and not done well.

I lived elsewhere in Grenada before so when returning to the island again, I was looking for somewhere clean and affordable. South Winds is about a 10-15 minute walk to Grand Anse and just up the hill from Excel Plaza. It's one of the more affordable places to rent a room per night. On the exterior it does appear a little dingy but inside the room was clean and well kept. The AC worked, the power wasn't a problem and I never had any complaints during my week stay...save one ... would have liked a little more hot water from the shower, but nothing to make it unbearable.

If you're coming to Grenada for a holiday, then probably worth staying on the beach. If you're in town because of business or something happening at SGU -- then not a bad alternative.

We've now stayed at South Winds three times - in 2004, 2008 and 2011.
The Apartments are nice and roomy with a large bedroom, bathroom, dining and kitchen area. The bedroom is air conditioned and has a cable TV.
The kitchen is well equipped with a decent supply of pots, pans, gas stove, toaster, etc. If what you want isn't there, just ask (we could have had a microwave, if we'd wanted one). For food supplies, there is a good choice of fruit & vegetables available just over the road at the MNIB store in the Excel Plaza, or it's a short walk down the road to the Spiceland Mall with a large IGA supermarket and an excellent selection of shops, bank etc.
It's about 15 minute walk down the hill to what I consider to be the best part of the fabulous Grand Anse beach - just keep going past the Grand Anse roundabout in a seaward direction through the Camerhogne Park and there it is. Glorious!
If you want to eat out, there is a good bar/restaurant called Le Chateau just down the road at the Grand Anse roundabout, and a little bit further on in the Grand Anse Shopping Centre, Rick's Cafe does good pizzas and ice cream.
Overall, I would say that South Winds are good value apartments, set in a convenient location, located near one of the best beaches in the world.

I found south winds to be in a convenient location close to the airport and the beach. The air con and tv was great, there was a good selection of utensils and a shopping centre across the road that had a subway which was good for lunch. There was a washing line provided at the back which was useful. Staff were ok, check out time is 12 which was good. Staff were happy for you to leave your bags in the office if you are getting picked up etc after check out time and don't want to take them around with you which was helpful.
The stairs to the office were not great as you either have to take your bag all the way up or worry about it being unattended at the bottom. There seemed to be a bit of a problem with ants in the kitchen but this seemed to be an issue all over grenada. Bathroom could do with a bit of updating but worked just fine.

Let me begin by saying that this is not my first time staying there and on those occasions my stay has always been very pleasant, staff friendly and helpful, location perfect.

However, on this trip which was our first since traveling has resumed. Stay started out pretty good, our first night my granddaughter, daughter and myself were bitten during the night, we put it down to mosquitoes so we bought spray. It was only on our sixth night there that we realized we were being bitten by bedbugs. Notified management, who was accommodating moved us to another cottage until the end of stay with an offer of free accommodation our next visit no problem.

That in itself isn’t the problem, the problem came about on our return home we had to seek medical attention for the bumps and itchy skin. I again notified management who indicated they will grant a refund. To date, I have yet to receive that refund, further to this I have been given the runaround and all kinds of excuses, the last being give until year end. I would have felt better if management was honest and upfront with me instead to the jerking around.

We will return to Grenada but not to that establishment. Though a perfect location for tourist management must to get their act together or they will lose good return clients, be upfront with guests if any problems, that is more appreciated than the runaround.

Recently quarantined there, the room was outdated and it was impossible to connect with anyone who worked there. The place would be better if the rooms and fixtures were new/functional and if the office was open consistently.

When staying at Southwinds Cottages my experience wasn’t to pleasing. It gives of a home vibe, but it needs a MAJOR UPGRADE.... Now this establishment is ran by a man (handed down by his father)who isn’t taking proper care of this place, his apartment looks like it came out of a designer magazine but his cottages looked like it hasn’t been upgraded since 1999.
For starters
1. pave the road
2. Upgrade the paint on all the buildings
3. Update the furniture
4. Fix the tiles
5. Have more options for the tv( more channels)
6. Better, reliable faster WiFi services
7. HIDE ARE ELECTRIC CORDS
8. Update the dishes in the kitchen
9. Better beds
10. GET A CEILING FAN IN THE LIVING ROOM not a standing fan
11. Update the microwave it’s discolored
12. Get an actual garbage bin
13. Put screen in the bedroom windows
14. Update your bathroom and that includes the TOILETS
15. fresh flowers when guest arrive in the cottage
16. Make outside more presentable

ALSO WHEN GUEST ARRIVES MAKE AN EFFORT TO MEET THE GUEST ask them if there’s anything that you can do, ask them if they are happy talk to the GUEST!!!!!
If this business should ever succeed THE OWNER NEEDS TO INVEST into the cottages...make changes.....

I’ve also took some pictures of the horrible items that are in this cottage (that’s what they call it ) and needed to have a serious UPGRADE...... I asked to speak with the manager,he supposedly came but we weren’t around but chose to never return to see what my concerns were.....

Welcome to the sunny island of Grenada. I spent three nights at the South Winds apartment complex during the month of September 2018. This apartment complex comprises apartments and two bedrooms cottages and is situated in Grand Anse, St. Georges and less than ten minutes from the Airport.
The apartment I stayed in was clean, comfortable and spacious with all amenities. There was sufficient hot water at all times and the air condition worked perfectly. The young lady, Karylin who looked after my reservation is a gem indeed. She ensured that I was properly settled in and checked up on me from time to time to ensure that I was comfortable.
The lovely golden sands of the Grand Anse Beach is less than ten minutes’ walk from South Winds. Across the road is the Excel Plaza with a variety of business places and shops. At the plaza you will find a Subway restaurant, grocery, food market with fresh vegetables and fruits and a pharmacy. For the health conscious there is a gym and a yogurt shop as well. My favorite place was the Chef Castle restaurant and bakery with a variety of pastries and ice-cream flavours for desert. I loved the nutmeg ice cream.
if you are looking for affordable rates, easy access to the beach and the airport , then South Winds is the place to stay.

We had a great time at the south winds. The owners were friendly and warm. I told them there was a light bulb out in the bathroom and it was done in 5 minutes. The rooms were clean and the a/c room units were great! Gwen,Mike and their sons really know how to create a family atmosphere there. Can't wait to go back when the pool is in!!
