Breathless Punta Cana Resort & Spa presents a lively beachfront getaway, which some guests describe as having a youthful, party-centric atmosphere. While the cleanliness of the resort and its amenities often receive praise, the experience appears to be marred by noise issues, from construction to late-night music. Travelers have mixed feelings about the rooms, citing maintenance and noise as drawbacks, yet some find them adequate. Opinions on service and value vary, with several guests feeling the premium price doesn't match the level of service or room quality.

We came to Breathless with another couple for a getaway from the cold we were not disappointed. We had decided to upgrade to the Exhale club and in the end we were very happy with our decision. The exhale club option gave us access to the preferred lounge, premium liquor, larger rooms, a butler, special area with service on the beach, special dining for breakfast and lunch, plus laundry services if needed plus more! We did have a few glitches with our room in the beginning but Lisbeth took care of them right away and made sure for the rest of our vaction we were look after very well!
The resort is beautiful and large with activities for all interests. The grounds are kept well groomed with a large beach which is easily walked for miles. There are 2 pools to choose from, one with activies, (the party pool,) and one that is more relaxed. When we got there I was nervous hearing that this was a "party" resort. You have the choice to have fun or to relax if you choose. This is what we really enjoyed. What also really made a difference to us from other resorts we have stayed in was the exception staff and service we received each and every day.
I looked forward to starting our mornings to be greeted by Luz in the Exhale club breakfast area. Soon she no longer needed to ask our room numbers!! From there we usually ended up going to the main pool to be greeted by Ricky the bartender and Leonindas the incredible server who never left us thirsty. On the Beach Wilkin and Andrea always looked after our every needs!!
In the evening the lobby area always has shows and activites to entertain. We were lucky to get to meet Marielel and Cindy who always made sure you we were looked after. The entertainment at this resort is exception. The staff are outstanding however
skooby by far stood out for us alway making a point to come over and say hello.
Our evenings always ended with going to the exhale club lounge. Here Milagros served us, Germain made us exception drinks and Maria made sure the snacks were always stocked, teached us about baseball and made us smile. These people and this service are what made our trip. This is what helped to make up decision to come back next year.

Carlos was awesome. so was the rest of the resort staff all week long. Room cleaning was priceless every day for only a $5 tip per day and cleaned twice a day occasionally. Food was delicious at every restaurant. Shows in the evening were also very good

This was our first time in an all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic and Breathless did not disappoint. The property is very well maintained and there were always workers doing touchups to make sure it looked pristine.

There were plenty of activities to keep busy or you could just relax and enjoy the beauty of the island.

We were pleased with the restaurants, with plenty to choose from. The buffets were extensive with many options. Even with food sensitivities or allergies, they were very accommodating. The hours and days the restaurants were open can be a little tricky so be sure to check to see when they are open.

Overall, the staff was very friendly! You were usually greeted with a smile or, "Hola!" Of course you have favorites...

A few of ours were Adriana from UVC who was always there to answer questions and went above and beyond. David was our assigned "butler" and graciously tended to us and communicated through WhatsApp, which was very convenient. There was WIFI throughout the property which allowed us to stay on airplane mode yet still communicate with family and friends.

I do wish that the property had designed smoking areas because of course, there are inconsiderate people who don't think of others. You can be sitting poolside or on the beach to have people light up and ruin the experience.

I would recommend staying at Breathless and would definitely return.

In reading the reviews of other travelers I have to wonder if we were at the same hotel.
I'll start with the positives. The resort is gorgeous. The pools and the grounds are kept very clean and it's very pretty at night. The various pools offer a ton of options for all tastes. It's never hard to find a chair at the beach or by the pool with one of the many umbrellas so that you can have as much or as little sun as you want.
We haven't been away in a few years and so we decided to spoil ourselves. We wanted an adults only 5 star. At Breathless we upgrade to the Xhale club and chose a swim up.
We found the found to be extremely disappointing with breakfast being the only meal we enjoyed. One night, we chose to order room service and about an hour after eating his club sandwich my husband spent the rest of the night vomiting. We eat pretty healthy at home and there wasn't a meal we ate that didn't cause at least moderate stomach upset.
The cleaning service was terrible. After using the 3 washcloths there at check in they were never replenished. Shampoo wasn't replenished and I had to ask for it. Towels weren't replenished every day. The taps were visibly dirty. The walls needed to be wiped down. I heard one couple in the lobby who had just checked in asking for the walls in the bathroom to be washed as a previous guest had obviously been very unwell and left evidence of such on the walls. No excuse for that at 5 star.
The swim up rooms are hit or miss. The ones by the Xhale pool seemed to have nice patios. Where ours was located the ground outside the room was so uneven that it was difficult to find spots to put the chairs in the sun.
The Xhale pool is great but the chairs are reserved early and it's very difficult to find a spot to sit. We noticed on the day of our departure 10 additional chairs were put out so this must have been a common complaint.
I was happy to see that as part of the Xhale upgrade a pillow menu was offered because I have neck issues related to pillows and that was a big part of the decision to upgrade. When I asked for different pillows at Xhale I was informed that they do not offer this service and had no answer for why it was advertised.
This resort depends on your expectations. I would not call it 5 star for food or service. I have been on much more affordable vacations that exceeded this one on in those areas.

This is our fourth visit to the Dominican Republic and this hotel was a little disappointing. It just lacks that bit of luxury found in other hotels on the Island.

It’s just the little things, like having to queue at the counter in the coffee shop where your favourite coffee is served to you in a paper cup from a vending machine.

If you come out of your room (which is very nice) after 9am, you will see all the the sun beds around the pool draped with purple towels. Many of these sun beds will remain unoccupied for at least 4 hours. I have seen guests remove them, but this has led to abuse from other guests, which is most unpleasant. People don’t go on holiday for conflict. This should be the responsibility of the hotel management.

All of the local staff are lovely. Which is one reason the we have returned to holiday in the DR. The hotel is very clean. There are 8 speciality restaurants and a buffet restaurant. Many American guests prefer to eat in the buffet. This means that you can generally get a table in the specialty restaurants without booking. The food is of a very good standard and the quality is sufficient for the European palette.

This is an okay hotel. But it could be so much better. The staff work incredibly hard and are very accommodating. There are such obvious deficiencies in the management that I’m afraid that I wouldn’t return to this hotel and couldn’t recommend it.

Please do visit the DR though. The weather, the beaches and the local people are wonderful!

As individuals living in the northeast and staying at other 5 star resorts we expected the same 5 star quality as we have in the past in terms of service, food, room, etc. all to be the luxury that was paid for and expected.
Sadly, for the first 1/2 of our 10 day trip we could not relax due to the numerous issues we had and during the 2nd half did our best to enjoy the situation we were in.
The trip was suppose to be the ultimate luxury experience with an xhale clue swim out, but upon arrival we spent 2 1/1 hour being pushed around, getting lot in the shuffle and staff forgetting who we were before we even got to our room.
Once we did get to our room, we took about 5 steps in an immediately requested to be changed to a differerent room because of the small of must and mold. After looking at 3 more rooms we settled in but were skeptical because the room smelled of some sort of air freshner. Upon returning to our room in the evening the mold and musty smell had crept in.
In the morning we went to the whale club and asked to speak to a UVC consultant or manager, we were sent to multiple location on the resort and were given the run around until we were back at the xhale club lounge were we again asked to speak to a manager and rep from UVC because of the issues we were having. In hopes to rectify the situation we told the personal that we wanted to speak to a UVC rep or manager about moving to ONYX resort next store. They moved us, but never let us speak to a manager or UVC rep. At ONYX we had issue with our safe combination being reset/changed for two days and on the 3rd say we came back to our room to find our safe opened. When we called security they never arrived that night so we need to then go in the morning to report the incident wasting more time of our vacation. Additionally, we let them know and showed them pictures of the two cockroaches that we found in our room. So, they had us move rooms again...wasting more of our vacation time packing and unpacking. We have been home from vacation for two weeks and there has still been no follow-up to the safe break-in.
Food: The food at this resort was the worst vacation food that we have ever had. Each night after dinner at a restaurant we would end up at the buffet trying to piece something together to eat because we were still hungry.
If you pay for prem alcohol you can only get it at the xhale lounge which isn't near any of the main pools.
There is more, but I"m limited by characters.

Location of resort is nice, beach is beautiful. The pool is beautiful, but if you want a chair you better get up at 6:00 am to save a chair, not exactly what you want to do while on vacation, even though there were signs stating that if your belongings are unattended for 45 mins they will be picked up. People placed towels on chairs and no one used them all day and staff did not pick them up. We complained numerous times to various staff and they told us to just move someones stuff and use that chair. I told them I would not do that as I did not come on vacation to get in a fight and that they should enforce their own rules. We later learned that some guests "paid off" pool staff to save them chairs.
Absolutely no entertainment during day by pool, and evening entertainment was very lack luster, it consisted of recorded music and staff wandering around trying to get guests to dance with them.
Food was good at all the restaurants, coffee shop was disappointing as well, I asked for iced coffee and was told "we have no iced drinks today" and never had any advertised flavors, when I ordered a vanilla latte they told they have no vanilla.
Room was OK, nothing spectacular, and TV did not always work.
I would not return to this particular resort, and I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, I did enjoy my vacation as I was somewhere warm and tropical, but I not impressed at all with Breathless.

We decided to book some winter sun. We've never travelled to the Caribbean before and decided on a whim to book a week at Breathless Punta Cana. This resort is an adults only resort and we didn't know if we were going to be greeted with wall to wall partying. We emailed ahead and asked for a quiet room. They were happy to oblige there is always a quiet spot if you need it. We upgraded slightly to the xhale club which for us was worth the money. A separate dedicated checkin process, private pool area, private butler, a great bit on the beach and a slightly different breakfast experience were all worth it. Our butler, Yrani, was amazingly efficient and very helpful, she arranged champagne, a booking at the Japanese restaurant and all manner of good advice.
The food on offer was really quite good and it is hard to pick a favourite. There were 11 restaurants on site and only the Japanese required a reservation. The others you may have to wait for but no more than an hour at the most popular times and most popular restaurants and they can page you when your table is ready.
The French, Italian, Mexican and Japanese ticked the most boxes for me and would have no issues eating at them more than once. The black cod at culinaria was the most accomplished cooking of the week.

The xhale club had a small lounge and private bar with an excellent range of nibbles, some of the patisserie work was excellent.
The e (entertainment) team put on shows and discos into the early hours of the morning. The acrobatic show was the match of anything you might see on 'Britain/America has talent'.
The weather disrupted the odd show / event. But one day of rain showers was not so bad!

Our room (a junior suite) overlooked the private xhale pool and it was often filled with music / party atmosphere.
The room was reasonably well furnished but could have benefitted from more closet space. The humidity can give a small damp feel to your clothes but 5 minutes in the sun sorts that out.

The beach experience was great, plenty of sunbeds, in shade or in full sun. If you definitely want shade then you'll need to be there by 10:30. There are beds and similar that can be rented for extra charges. There are plenty of opportunities to be sold extra stuff but a 'no gracias' is met with a smile.

The resort reps will try to sell you their unlimited vacation idea, it wasn't for us.

The small shops on site were nicely provisioned and there was an evening where souvenir sellers set up a market in the main entertainment area. Helpful if you don't go out on excursions. If your tour operator doesn't help arrange excursions then there are tour operators in the hotel, they sit near the lobby and can help with anything.

Take a big stack of $1 usd for tipping the fabulous staff who work so hard to make the vacation so easy.

Our family of 6, just returned from a much needed relaxing week at Breathless Punta Cana. This is a very large resort with a lot to offer!
Our VIP host, Willy took amazing care of us as Xhale guests. He immediately delivered a wheelchair for my husband upon our arrival and surprised him our first evening with a slice of cake for his birthday. He set up a reservation at the Hibachi restaurant, for both of our rooms, which is the only restaurant that requires a reservation.
Extra towels and snacks or anything that we were in need of, was brought to our rooms with a simple WhatsApp message sent to Willy. We sent him our order for breakfast late one evening as instructed by room service. He scheduled room service to be delivered to us at 6:30am the next day, as we were leaving the resort at 7:15am for an excursion. Many thanks to Willy for taking great care of us!!
We were always greeted by staff throughout the resort. They were very friendly and welcoming and went out of their way to make sure that we had a pleasant stay. I am sure going to miss the waffles at breakfast, with a side of some of the tastiest dulce de leche that I have ever tasted! The lamb chops at the French restaurant are a MUST TRY! The cooks at the restaurants went ABOVE AND BEYOND to accommodate us while cooking our meals, due to our food allergies. I look forward to returning one day!!

My new husband and I visited Breathless, immediately following our wedding for a 10 day Honeymoon and were not bored for a second. With an abundance of activities hosted each day at the pool and on the beach, we had so many new and favorite activities to choose from. The ETeam (Entertainment Team) hosting these activities were very encouraging of us to participate and brought so much energy to the atmosphere of the resort, especially the ETeam members, Frank and Super Mini. After just a couple of days at Breathless so many of the staff members already began to feel like friends.

When we arrived to Breathless were were greeted and assisted by Veranobel who helped us to check in to our rooms, get acquainted with the resort, and finding us somewhere to eat for dinner (a great restaurant in the resort). Being fatigued and hungry travelers when we first arrived he quickly grabbed us plenty of snacks and drinks to enjoy while we checked in.

The next day, we were introduced to our host, Alex who helped us each day with finding restaurants, planning excursions, and planning wonderful, special honeymoon events (meals on the beach, spa services,etc.). Alex messaged us each morning to let us know what activities were going on and was always available to answer questions.

Anywhere we went the staff was all so very friendly! Shoutout to some of our favorite bar staff at the Coco Beach Bar, Gabriel and Ray! Cristian at the Xhale Lounge bar was great, and Ilaria waited on us for breakfast and lunch multiple times and always remembered us and even our favorite meals. On the night we did a beach dinner, our waiter Francisco was very diligent while being respectful of our time together in that intimate setting (he did the same for our beach breakfast the very next day). When we got a Bali Bed on the beach, our coordinator Onal made us feel very comfortable and encouraged us to enjoy ourselves all day! The servers bringing us drinks that day made sure our hands were never empty! Even the lady cleaning our room was so kind and respectful!

All in all, having never traveled out of the country, the staff, servers and excursion coordinators at Breathless made us feel extremely welcomed, safe and comfortable to let loose and really enjoy ourselves! Could not have asked for a better team to have host us on our honeymoon!

I just returned from Breathless Punta Cana and it was amazing! They definitely used filters for ice and cooking and had no issues! They provide plenty of water bottles for drinking and brushing teeth. The cleaning service cleaned the room though and came twice a day! I saw other staff cleaning other areas like the walkways daily. The beaches were combed and pristine daily. And the staff were wonderful from beginning to end talking care of any needs and all with a smile! We will definitely be back soon!
