Hotel pros: It's a new, well designed and tastefully furnished hotel. It sleeps very well in the big bed, the TV is huge, the air conditioning is silent, safe is big enough for a 15.6” laptop, the curtains are perfectly opaque, so you can sleep until late.
The beach is with nice sand (should be more than 7 umbrellas on the beach!), the water is very clean and turquoise, the pool is wonderful. But what is really amazing is the sunset you can admire from the beach or from the pool.
Hotel cons: bathroom sink and mountd too high, the minibar is empty. There are just 7 umbrelas on the beach. Unfortunately there is no shuttle bus to the city center (and the taxis are very old and more expensive than in New York or Paris).
Staff pros: the reception staff is professional and fast. The waiters from restaurants and bars, most are positive and customer oriented. The food is good and comes fast. Breakfast is wonderful.
Staf cons: The housekeeper is totally unprofessional: she forgets the cloth with which she wipes the toilet, she forgets to put toilet paper, she forgets the garbage bag in the room, she only puts conditioner and she doesn't put any shower gel.

It is a hotel where we felt great. If there are small things that need to be improved, it doesn't matter too much for us. Once again, the sunset and the sea are unforgettable!

This was our 4th trip to Curacao and our first time at the Marriott. It’s very good, but not great. The hotel is brand new and in excellent condition. We were not impressed with the restaurants. They were as expected overpriced, but didn’t seem special enough to justify the cost. Since we had a car we usually went out for dinner. They are still finishing some outside construction as of early March. This was a little inconvenient but didn’t bother us that much.

The Pros:
• Great location and hotel design
• Friendly & helpful staff for the most part
• Very good white sandy beach with moderate waves
• Outstanding snorkeling a few hundred feet from the beach
• Large, clean rooms with very large bathrooms
• In room refrigerator and Nespresso machine
• 2 pools (family pool for wading and an adult pool for swimming laps)
• Plenty of beach/pool lounge chairs, but if you want shade you need to be on the beach by 8:00 to “reserve” your spot with towels and personal items.
The Cons:
• European style electrical outlets. If you live in the US, bring adapters
• No upgrades or recognition for Gold VIP member (maybe gold level is too low for them to notice)
• House keeping service was spotty. One day we came back from the beach at 5:30 to see the maid just starting to clean our room. We had to wait on the balcony for 45min for her to finish before we could shower.
• Our coffee machine broke and I called for a replacement, which never came. I needed to call again the next day, and they finally sent one.
• On the last day, we arranged a later checkout. When we returned to our room shortly after 12:00 the key didn’t work. I went down to the desk and they had no record of our late checkout. After 10 minutes of “looking” they could not reactivate my key so someone from the front desk needed to walk to my room to let me in.

We have stayed 9 days at this resort and still have a few more to go. Given all the negativity in previous reviews I thought I would write a review before I left. This hotel has just reopened with a whole new staff so there have been a few hiccups but most are resolved now and the few remaining are improving every day.

The hotel is beautiful, modern, airy and clean. I am a Lifetime Titanium MARRIOTT Bonvoy member so I have been in many Marriott hotels and I found the rooms here very spacious and comfortable. I particularly liked the drawer style mini fridge and the modern in-drawer room safe. We had an Ocean Front room with balcony which is literally right on the beach and the sunsets have been spectacular. Just be aware that the Ocean Front rooms near the public beach and those near the pool bar are noisy. Also note when booking your room that Ocean View is not Ocean Front as a number of people we met had been confused between the two.

The big attraction at this hotel is the beach. It’s small but very nice. The beach is great for swimming and there is fantastic snorkeling right from the shore, so bring your own snorkel gear as there is none available at the hotel yet. For now also know that there are only 7 beach umbrellas for the whole hotel so they are a coveted item. They SHOULD be first come first serve (not reserved by beach staff for latecomers) and if you are gone for hours your spots should be taken back and given to others who would enjoy them.

Another major attraction here is that the food is fantastic! All 3 restaurants offer different fair and all of the food was very good. Our favorite was Zala Gastro Bar in the lobby because of both the quality of the food and the service, My new favorite lunch is now Spicy Ahi Tuna Nachos — delicious! The food is excellent at C Spice , especially the breakfast, and the service there still has a ways to go but it has improved over our 9 day stay. Salty Iguana is the beach bar and just know that the portions here are large and many items are good for sharing - nachos, quesadillas, etc.

The hotel is 10 mins by car/taxi to Willemstad. The cab fare is steep at $20/$25 each way so I agree with others that a shuttle back and forth to the Renaissance is a great idea. Although the hotel is outside of downtown there are 3 restaurants within a 5-10 min walk of the hotel— Pirate Bay (beach bar), Tomatoes (pizza), and De Visserij (fish).

Finally hats off to MARRIOTT for opening a beach resort with paper straws and no bottled water! Hopefully this practice spreads to more of their hotels.

As a Marriott platinum member, we were very happily surprised at the level of service and how excited the staff were to be working at this nearly opened resort. Considering staff were still being trained, they were doing very well. We loved our room and thought it was very well designed. There were plenty of cubbies and drawers for two people to store and find things over a 10 night stay. The breakfast buffet was great. The omelet chef was very friendly. I loved the banana bread! The young man passing out towels was enthused to help us find just the right chair. We were in Curacao on a diving vacation. However, we found the reef interesting for snorkeling and loved the hotel location on the beach. The concierge was very helpful. We definitely recommend renting a car to visit Willemstad and other sights. We hope to come back some day.

I have to say, in spite of a lot of the negative reviews I read before I booked this hotel for a vacation, I thought the resort was pretty good coming off a renovation.

The room we had (partial ocean view) was fantastic, modern and clean. The staff was overall very accommodating and friendly, going out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The pools were very comfortable and they added enough chairs for all the guests to lounge around in. The beach was lovely and the ocean water was refreshing. The location was a short drive from the airport and made getting into vacation mode after a long flight easy.

With these positives in mind, there were some issues. On our first full day there, the water and electricity shut off. It didn't come back on for almost nine hours, which meant we couldn't shower or charge our phones at all during this entire time. We were not given any credit on our bill due to the inconvenience, nor given any sort of perk as an apology. They did bring around water to the guests, but that's a small gesture, not quite enough to my liking.

There was some construction still going on in the garden area and the lobby, even though this hotel has been officially "open" for four months now. The food at the various restaurants was subpar, so we mostly ate out or went to the nearby supermarket to get better tasting groceries and snacks. Service could also be slow at times, from the servers at the restaurants and pool to the cleaning staff when it came to making your room at a decent time.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and would recommend others come as well. However, remember to rent a car and prepare to eat most of your meals in nearby Willemstad if you want anything halfway decent or affordable.

Newly renovated and opened. Great pool area and smallish beach area. Not the best beach in Curacao but not the worst either. Rooms are updated but somewhat sparse. Bed was very nice and comfortable. The TV was notably big, maybe 70+ inches, attached to a chromecast that I never figured out how to connect to.

Location is in Piscadera beach, which is about 7-10 minutes from Otraband and the Renaissance, 15 minutes from old Willemstad due to the bridge, and 20-30 minutes from the nice beaches further up the coast. Definitely get a car as taxis are ridiculously expensive in Curacao (and the rest of the Caribbeans). Free parking in the lot.

Only tried the lunch buffet at the restaurant once, which was limited but had nice servings of picanha. Salty Iguana is the beach bar and grill, which has standard Western beach shack food.

There's a couple of excellent local seafood options near the hotel. One is right up the street in Piscadera called De Visserij, that is famous for their tuna served either sashimi or seared, as well as other fish and shrimp in a fish market style setting on the water. The other is Kas de Piskado in Purunchi about 5 minutes drive behind the water desalination plant. There's a few restaurants (shacks) on the water but Kas de Piskado is the most famous one that both locals and tourists go to. Definitely try the lionfish, or they have a few other selections as well. All are pan fried. Both of these places have standard Western prices for seafood, but remains rather inexpensive for Curacao prices.

The minor issues were the service was rather impersonal and perfunctory, and the mosquito situation in the check in area is horrendous. Also asked for cutlery which never came, and housekeeping that has somewhat random hours so you may miss it resulting in calling for housekeeping that will never come. However when they did make up the room it was done with excellence.

This hotel just underwent a $37 million renovation, but they forgot the umbrellas! I was shocked when I went out to the pool to see how few umbrellas there were and how little shade. In fact, people at the pool almost fight over getting some shade.

The hotel is badly designed in other ways. The showers in the guest rooms don't drain well because the floors are not sloped. One of the restaurants is situated so that sand from the beach blows across the tables. Signage throughout is poor. There are no restrooms convenient to the adult pool, no guard rails to help you enter the pool.

Despite what it says on the website, there is no spa. When we asked, we were told it was being built, but there is no construction going on. Supposedly massages are available, but no staff member could tell us where.

The resort claims it has seven restaurants. We could only find four. There is only one place open for breakfast and the set price is $24. Waitstaff at the restaurants are not familiar with the food or drink on the menus, nor trained how to serve. At the hotel's fanciest and most expensive restaurant, the waiter brought us a red wine when we'd ordered a rosé and got our appetizer orders wrong. At one lunch, our sandwiches were served without the fries that were supposed to come with them. Since our waiter never returned, we couldn't even ask about this. At another restaurant, we had to ask three times to get our water glasses refilled.

On our last day, we returned to the lunch place we'd eaten at the first day and learned it was no longer offering lunch. This wasn't posted or announced anywhere.

The only good things I can say are that all the people who work at the little store are pleasant and we encountered two helpful staff members, Ian and Remi.

Been to Aruba couple of times and Bonaire. Curacao has some of the prettiest beaches. Stayed at Ritz Carlton in Aruba and this property certainly matches up and exceeded our expectations. It’s beautiful; particularly at night. The two pools are great; one for adults and one for children.
Property just reopened in November 2019 and the staff is very well up to speed on Marriott hospitality.
Don’t miss a cocktail at the bar prior to dinner where a server named Jeaneau is absolutely a stand out amongst the staff. Upon observation, he ensured things ran smoothly while making sure all guests were well attended to. We also had some very good food at the bar.
A couple of improvements that are needed are room service and the beach. Beach is rather small and rocky; more sand should be brought in. There is a lack of umbrellas with lounge chairs on the beach; you need to get out there early to grab one. If you’re a pool person no problem at all; grab a lounge chair and look out at the beautiful Caribbean water.
Room service needs a bit of improvement due to lack of accuracy with our orders and a bit unorganized when called. The first time we called they were unsure of what was on the room service menu and we had to read it to them.
If you want to explore the beautiful beaches on this island a rental car is highly suggested.
In our opinion, this property could easily become a five-star resort with suggested improvements

Had a great stay today at this convenient resort, with all the amenities needed (including towels and covers for the chairs). The beach was quite private (not over-crowded) with a natural entry into the water. What was incredibly pleasant: the professional staff immediately makes you feel welcome and goes above and beyond to help. First the cleaning lady (forgot her name) at the beach floor restrooms around 15.00 who volunteered to hold a bucket of fresh water up for me to wash my hands (power outage on the whole island, no water pressure); Maduro in the bar who went into another restaurant to find the peanut butter sauce that I like despite it not being on the menu (how Dutch...) and Gerniel at the bar who made the best pina colada that I have had on this trip. Awesome staff, awesome vibe, awesome experience.

The last time I stayed in this hotel was almost twenty years ago. The reason to make a reservation again was the fact that my originally booked hotel on Curaçao is temporarily closed and I was also curious to see the result of the long-lasting renovation. When I arrived, I was completely surprised to see the result of it.

I had booked an Oceanfront room which was situated in the West Wing of the hotel and had a wonderful view on the Caribbean Sea. I enjoyed the sunsets every evening. The bright and modern corner room was spacious with a comfortable king bed and had all amenities like a Nespresso machine and very large flatscreen. The bathroom was special because it also included an open closet for clothes. Housekeeping, however, was only on demand due to Covid-19. All employees were also obliged to wear a mask.

The hotel has three restaurants of which Cspice was only open for breakfast. In the lobby the Zala Gastro Bar was open for dinner. The menu had two sections, a limited choice of general dishes with an oriental flavor and a sushi menu with an excellent choice. I loved the sushi while also enjoying a good glass of Pinot Grigio. Service was impeccable, especially Karuna was a perfect hostess. The Salty Iguana Ocean Grill near the family pool was open for lunch. Service of Joely, Basima, Cereta, John and of course Jaymy, the bartender I knew from another hotel on Curaçao, was very friendly and attentive. The local Montana beer tasted good after a morning on the beach.

There were not many guests, mainly Dutch, in the hotel due to the Covid pandemic. During the weekends however local people visited the hotel with a daypass or had a staycation. As a Dutch solo traveler and a curious longtime visitor of the island I had a lot of contact with many employees and they liked to talk about the current difficult situation on the island and they were grateful that I visited Curaçao. I had a particularly good stay despite Covid-19, and I hope to return in April.
