Hotel Inglaterra is one of the oldest hotels in Havana so it has all the charm and history of the city but it has been upgraded with modern amenities. The location is perfect - walking distance to Havana Vieja, the Malecon, El Capitolio and more. The view from my room was

Dear Lizmag11: Thank you very much for choosing our hotel and for sharing your comments about the stay. We are sorry for what happened, it is not a common complaint the loss of belongings inside the hotel, on the contrary every day we verify the honesty of our staff by returning to their owners money and valuables forgotten. We consider that we devote all the time and the necessary attention on the part of the staff the day that the complaint was raised during you were guests of the hotel. The established procedure or protocol was followed only that the result was not what you wanted, since the security system of the locks on the door of the room and the safe deposit box showed that it was only manipulated by you, which was demonstrated in official documentation. The complaint filed by you is recorded in the police record, and this latter entity is in charge of giving you the latest results of the investigation. We let you know that this is the first contact we have received from you, after you left the hotel. If it is possible, please send us the address of the page where you wrote, since we are not communicating through a website of the hotel. We regret that the results delivered by the hotel have not been satisfactory for you. Best regards, Ania Mastrapa Pérez Public Relations Hotel Inglaterra rrpp@gcingla.gca.tur.cu

Loved this place. The music, the staff, the rooms, everything is AWESOME! We enjoyed French fries as a late night snack. The gift shop was chock full of great gifts for tourists. The breakfast was fresh every morning. If you love sardines like I do...you're going to be in love.

Very nice outside area where we had drinks and listened to excellent salsa and rumba bands. Good drinks. Not outrageously priced. Bands were good too. Many instruments, although a piano might have been nice.

Single room with exterior balcony on the second floor. Perfect for 1 person!
Joannie, first of all, excellent choice. The hotel is old but is impecable. For sure there are better hotels in Havana, but they would cost a lot more. And for sure there are a lot of worts options. So, I was nicely surprised. The only thing are bad are the toiletres. Bring your own. The food is pretty decent. The breakfast is good enough and for sure you are going to find something the you like...the pastries are home made, sometimes they have some lack of "finesse", but the taste is good. For my surprise, not too much sugar. More like the european taste than the american...The best of all of this hotel is the location. You can do almost everythinh in a walking distance. And all the old cars are parked at the front of this hotel...4 last tips: the rooms are incredible cold, go to the rooftop of Inglaterra and also, just cross the street and go to the Manzana, the best rooftop in Havana. Dont worry, the drinks are really affordable, like 6 - 8 US dollars. And also, stop by at the famous El Floridita for a great daiquiri...I miss Havana.

I gave them my UK visa credit card at check in to set up a tab for spend in the hotel, which worked OK. I exchanged GBP currency at hotel although rate is not as good as at government exchange bureaux at airport. You might get a worse exchange rate for USD. If you use cab from airport to hotel, you will need CUC to pay the driver, so you may need to change at airport.

Saludos.-
