Lovely camping ground, very welcoming and friendly owners here. Travelling with friends each in our own campervan, we decided to stay here one night after getting off the Hokianga Ferry on our way back from the Northland leg of our roadie. Facilities basic but clean (we only used the small facilities block by the reception area) and the sun deck is a fabulous place to watch the sunset over Hokianga Harbour. Only one gripe was the showers in that block needed a stool or bench to put belongings on, as there was no private change facilities with each shower, just a shelf by the handbasin area. The pizza oven was cooking someones dinner when we arrived, I'd definitely recommending using it, smells wafting out were mouth watering. We were lucky to be given some spare pizza, delicious!! As we arrived early evening without any booking we were given sites on the grass powered sites just inside the entrance as the lower sites were full. While we never had any view, we were still close to all amenities. We enjoyed our stay.

We were so well looked after at this campsite when we stayed whilst doing the Tour Aotearoa cycle ride. The camp was extremely busy that night and yet nothing was a bother to the managers, everything was clean and well maintained and they even had time to sort me out with some of the amazing kawakawa balm they make onsite. They even lent my brother a camping mat when he decided to stay with us at the last minute. Amazing service and a great place to stay.

Exceptional in every way. Location is stunning and a short walk to gorgeous Rawene village. The hosts are absolutely delightful. The facilities are spotless regardless of the time of day or night. Kitchen and showers are excellent, and so are the outdoor tables & deck areas. Locals are helpful. There is loads to see and do in surrounding areas such as Opononi, Omapere & more. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We couldn’t have hoped for better.

I am so annoyed we arrived with it saying lovely bush sea views and lovely spot. We arrive to a crammed car park and told no waste dump and cant fill up with water as water shortage yet sign in town says water restrictions eased. Also NO WHERE on their website does it say that you cant dump waste or fill up with water. Its false advertising and waste of money they also charged us $40 To stay in this horrible place!
Ive attached photos of the campervan spot ! Also there was NO wifi!! It was our annual get away and we had planned it to arrive 5pm to relax with bush and water views and organise our camper as had been freedom camping for two days and driven 250km. We arrive to a horrible place! Your better off to stay in Opononi trust me its a rip off, dump at Rawene Holiday Camp compared to Russell Top 10 was stunning $39 a night includes free wifi, stunning views, water, birds and kind people its crazy this place in Rawene charged $40 for nothing except a 3 minute shower! Thats right the shower is capped to 3 minutes and theres only two showers and two toilets for whole place!

We stayed here for 2 nights while on our Christmas road trip. The service was wonderful!. Our site was perfect! It wasn't crowded, it wasn't noisy it was very peaceful as this was what we were wanting and we had a small nice view of the harbour. The pool was a highlight for my two kids. They provide swimming noodles for kids to use and there's a playground which needs some attention but it kept my kids happy. I would recommend for the toilets and showers to be separate as they are together as one. I would definitely come back to stay here :)

We got rained out from our original campsite (family land) and decided to book in at the Rawene Holiday Park. Wow!!! A hidden gem with wonderful Hosts. Our accommodation looked right out over the Hokianga Harbour. A harbour my mother and father fished for years, and supplied flounders to the locals, and surrounding districts.
We are such a dis-organised family (lol), we had last minute family members, deciding they wanted to book in, so the hosts, re-organised our accommodation to give us the better deal. The site itself, had everything we needed, to have 2 wonderful nights. My great grandson, absolutely loved the pool and the play area. We will definitely be back, for another dose of this wonderful Hokianga hospitality and scenery.

This is one of the best holiday parks I've stayed at in NZ. The facilities were clean, the cabin was warm, and most importantly, the family that runs the place was so hospitable and kind. Great location with a deck from which you can see the sun rise and set over the Hokianga. There's also a pizza oven, a pool and lots to do in the area. Would definitely stay here again. Big thank you to Te-Ata, Iti, and the rest of the whanau :)

Stayed here two nights - great location with stunning views of Hokianga harbour. Good clean amenities and lovely communal bbq area overlooking the harbour.

Camper van parking is very small with about 8 powered sites, all on gravel. Site 5 has the best views! They don’t have a waste or fill station for campers or caravans so keep this in mind.

There’s lots to do and explore in the area. Campground is a good 20 minute walk to Rawene township - needs reasonable level of fitness to walk back as it’s uphill!

Would definitely return.

Whatever you do, don't just turn up without a booking. I'm not usually one to write a bad review, if any but I was truly shocked & gobsmacked by how I was treated today. I had checked the website for powered site availability & office hours noticed that they were open until 8.30pm. After driving for 3 hours we arrived at 8pm with my child with me, excited & ready for camping. After finding a parking spot I proceeded to go online & complete my online payment before heading up to the office. However, I was then greeted rudely by the lady manager saying that I never checked in at the office & I should have called ahead. I explained that I was completing my online booking then was going to come up to the office where the manager told me "that's not how this works" then told me to leave through the exit. I have many years experience in the accommodation industry, from cleaning to park management & also as a guest. Never have I experienced unreasonable rudeness like this. After explaining it was 8pm at night & I have my 8 year old child with me she still wasn't having a bar of it. Now we are parked up in a freedom camping area in Opononi. This would have been our 5th stay to the camp & after this experience you have really ruined the magic of our memories for myself & my child. You should be ashamed of yourself! Don't worry, we will never be back & will no longer recommend this beautiful spot to anyone. I hope you feel appalled by your behaviour. Absolutely disgusting in the fact you dismissed us without even rectifying the issue. There were plenty of sites available, both online & on site. You can't complain about the service because there wasn't any!

We stayed for just the one night in our campervan. We parked in the lower area and we’re close to kitchen and bathrooms. The BBQ area and pool have the most beautiful view over the harbour. The bathrooms have the toilet included and the floors are always damp due to way shower curtain hangs. It’s ok but given the park was full and only two toilets I did feel a wee bit rushed.

Saying that the lovely quiet spot, beautiful view and ability to take dogs made it worth it.

Great price at $40 for two.
