Lovely tranquil Ecolodge with cosy cabins, well stocked kitchen and clean bathrooms. Lounge has fire and the usual activities (books to read, local guides, stereo and acousic guitar). Close to the local Four Square or Cafe 35 for an early morning pie. The freezing work ruins and historic wharf are just down the road. Friendly owners (and cat!). Loved waking up to the sound of waves lapping on the beach. Def recommend staying here!

Superb place to stay and break up,our trip around the East Coast. Small friendly backpackers, exceptionally clean, comfortable and excellent facilities. The ‘small’ studio was exactly that but bed super comfortable and morning view from our deck something to wake up to. Would thoroughly recommend Stranded as a place to stop and enjoy.

We really enjoyed our stay at Stranded in Paradise. Leanne and Angus are relaxed and do a nice job of running this place. Definitely recommend it and the drive around the coast is well worth it too. This region is one of the most remote places in Aotearoa and is blessed with so many beautiful views not least the sunrise from the Terrace at Stranded in Paradise. Lots of bush, beaches, sea, marae and in December flowering Pohutukawa which seemed more red than up our way. Go there, it is a gem.

A good friend Found this Air B&B on line decided by location to give it a go. Great choice. Hesitant about the drive as we were on bikes but all good. we were the only ones in this night so very quiet and cosy. All that we needed was there. Great music to choose from and so well stocked . thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here and well recommended. Just down the road from the best pub in NZ and the views from the house is stunning.

Unique place, very cozy and comfortable house with dreamendous view on the ocean to see the sunrise... :-) lovely and very friendly hosts! Leanne and her man did suggest us many things and locations to visit for the northisland, like tourguides. There is the mountain Hikurangi near Tokomaru Bay, 20min by car and there is a nice walk to the hut of Mt. Hikurangi (4h), to go to the Top of the mountain you have to be a experienced hiker! Contact Te Runanganui o Ngati Porou before you start. In the backpacker there is a very nice kitchen and bathrooms too. Best backpacker ever :-)

Leanne and Angus were welcoming hosts. They settled us in, offered us advice and left us to explore. The set up is great with cabins, lofts and rooms plus clean and well equipped common areas. Awesome views too, thanks for the stay 🙂

Specially designed around the stunning sunrise of Tokomaru Bay, every room is facing the sun in the morning. You will not regret waking up early. Plus our hosts Leanne and her husband are absolutely delightful. We did not mind being stranded in paradise ;)
