We stayed in the one bedroom two star cottage which is just along the road from the backpacker lodge owned by the same couple. They also have a caravan selling coffees and icecreams. Cottage was clean and comfortable although the electric fry pan didn’t have an electrical cord to make it work. We’d brought a cold dinner with us so were untroubled. Breakfast was supplied – cereal, fresh fruit, bread and jams. Tea, coffee, toaster, kettle and two ring hot plate were all there. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom and shower all functioned as they should. Small sitting out area at the front. Park at the door. Not in any way a luxurious stay, but quite suitable without roughing it. The beach is lovely and can be easily reached by walking out to it

four days in the Catlins is only just enough to begin to appreciate this magic part of Aotearoa and the place to base is here, awesome hosts Ester and Jack go above the level to make you feel welcome and come back. the eggs couldn't be fresher and the coffee perfect.

We truly loved our stay. The owners are awesome friendly people, very helpful and know the area well (they live next door). The area itself is very secluded, the nearest bars/restaurants are probably 10 km drive away. What was great the owners handed us a selection of home-grown eggs for breakfast. It just felt like home, and the bed was very comfortable. Thank you.

Jack and Ester were so warm and welcoming and had a wealth of local knowledge. The photos of the place dont do it justice it was very lovely and well maintained. Spotlessly clean. Great shower, farm fresh eggs, warm, comfortable and so peaceful. 10/10 I reccomend Kepplestone to others and I will be returning as soon as I can.
