We arrived here after walking about 23 km from Vila do Bispo, great walk on the Rota Vicentina. We had a lovely welcome and our room is comfortable, the bed is better than where we stayed last night.
We had dinner here and the meal surpassed our expectations by a significant margin. Come here to eat if ur a staying somewhere else.

+1
Cato - it’s possible for couples stay to one or some nights. Rooms are clean and nothing special, but atmosphere, people, guests and dogs are nice.
You’ll like a breakfast, good coffee, fresh orange juice.
If you are runner, there is a perfect race with incredible, wild views on ocean, beach, surfers.

We spent three nights there.
As mentioned before the rooms are quite basic but clean.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good (but may offer some fruits for breakfast)
The food (dinner) was amazing - definitely a recommendation.
Cato is situated 5-10 min walking distance to an incredibly large beach. From there you can follow the fisherman coast trail with very scenic views.

We stayed here during 4 nights and had a room with shared bathroom.
The room itself is basic and clean. We had a small balcony with seating, with a nice view of the surroundings.
We had to share the bathroom with one other room. The shower was warm, but the bathroom itself is very small. The sliding door to close the bathroom didn't function properly and was very noisy during the night. Also, the walls between the rooms are very thin, so you can literally hear someone snore in the room next door.
We had a room above the restaurant, which could also be noisy. So if you like to sleep early, bring your earplugs. The noise was done at around 11pm every evening.
The staff was friendly and the restaurant was a nice feature. The breakfast was good, with a fresh smoothie every morning.
A good thing is the location, near the beach and Carrapateira.

This place is basic in terms of the accommodation. A room with a bed and a shared bathroom. It's all very clean and the place is quiet enough. Breakfast is pretty ordinary really in terms of what I've had around the country over the last three weeks. All up on the accommodation side I'd say it was basic and overpriced for what you get. For just 10 euro more else where I've been in a four star hotel or had a lovely ensuite, a pool and an amazing breakfast. I'd try somewhere else if it's an option. Restaurant wise I was actually quite surprised. Other that the chewy chorizo it was really quite good. Not cheap again but really nice. Staff were friendly and helpful for both food and accommodation.

As on Tuesday was the closing day of "Sitio do Rio" and we do not wanted to take the car, we had dinner, even if last summer we were disappointed. Again the same thing. They have changed the name of L-Colesterol fon Cato, but there is the same Company and the same people. We ate a tasteless octopus, and an average vegetable omelet, following the recommendation of the kind waiter. Price high for what they offered. Not go back again.

We called in for a spot of lunch whilst mooching about in our hire car, the place came across as a surf shack kind of place. In truth it was perfectly pleasant and we had a delicious meal. The place was very quite when we were there so service could not be faulted. The folks running it seemed to be enjoying life with laughs and general jollity emanating from the kitchens and why not. Reasonable price for a very edible meal, thanks very much. Cannot comment on the hotel side obviously as we were only passing through.

Stayed for two nights while on our road trip in the algarve. The accommodation itself was very simple. Clean, room was a reasonable size, bed was comfortable. My only two negatives were, firstly, as mentioned in other reviews, the noise from other rooms... Secondly, the shower was tiny and even if you were very careful and did what was instructed with the shower curtain, water flooded the bathroom. The water was HOT! Though!!
However, these were irritations rather than major issues and the location and bar/restaurant area more than made up for it!
