This trip was just after the NZ/Cook Islands bubble opened. As such, things were only just starting to open on the island. This led to 12 very lazy beach and sea days with the occasional trip into town.
I've never been so relaxed in my life.
highly recomended.

Great location, spacious rooms and friendly staff who make you feel welcomed and right at home!
The bungalow we stayed in was a little dated but everything worked well and the location was just great. We spent most of our time in the lagoon. Best snorkel experience we had was right in front of our beachside bungalow. There is also a salt water pool that is delightful. I cannot say enough good things about the staff, but especially Lisa, who checked us in and took care of us like we were family.
Thank you for a delightful stay. Aloha nui!

This is a fantastic place to stay. They staff were friendly and obliging. Lisa is the Manager and I just cannot speak highly enough of her. She is just brilliant - helpful and always happy to go the extra mile and she did. The overall vibe of the place is great. There is a swimming pool for guests only. The food at the bar was well priced and good quality. The resort was not too big and you got to know everyone. Highly Recommend.

Beautiful sea facing small and personal. Lovely people, fun and comfortable non demanding atmosphere. Great breakfast and drinks in the beach bar. Tons of character and definitely a one off. No rowdiness just a really wonderful and rare opportunity for meeting nice people of many nationalities and to enjoy the lovely island of Raratonga. We will always remember our stay here as one of the best trips ever. Thank you all.

Great location on a beautiful beach. Al & Lisa are fantastic hosts, rooms are well equipped and comfortable. So much more welcoming than a sterile hotel. Whales & sunsets from the deck were amazing.

Hard to know where to start really but we have absolutely no hesitation in awarding five stars. We stayed here for 8 nights as part of a 9 week around the world trip and our time at Aro'a beach was most definitely a highlight. The location is perfect with a wonderfully quiet beach area and great snorkeling conditions even at low tide (which is far from the case elsewhere on the island). Rooms are spacious, well maintained and just right for this relaxed environment. Would recommend selecting a room right on the beach. Whilst the hotel is quiet during the day it springs into life three evenings a week when their Shipwreck Hut Bar hosts special events supported by appropriate live music, including a BBQ on Saturday. Great place to watch the sunset with a cocktail. On other evenings there is a basic menu available but if you want to venture out it is possible to arrange a free pick up service offered by some nearby restaurants. The most memorable pleasure here is the people who make it all tick, that's Geraldine and Steve, the owners, plus all of the other staff including Stephanie and Alone. They couldn't do enough to look after us and we felt part of the Aro'a family very quickly. We were so pleased that we stayed here for over a week and would say that if you only book for a couple of days you will wish it was longer. As you can gather, we loved it here!

The hosts for this hotel are delightful! It was a perfect blend of relaxation and activity depending on what you wanted. The breakfast that was included each day was enough to last through the day! Lots of fresh fruit and baked breads. The size of the resort is perfect...not too big or so small you feel conspicuous. We felt comfortable socializing during meals and happy hour but could also be off by ourselves. I would definitely go here again!

We could not have asked for more. If you want to escape to a magical, stress free, beachfront holiday with a genuine, warm welcome and a totally fabulous beach bar - it's all here at Aro'a Beachside Inn. Steve, Geraldine and their lovely team make all the difference. This is a place with personality and warmth - really good for the soul. Not big, not corporate - perfect! We will be back and so, so wish we had stayed longer.

This was my 4th time staying at the Aro'a Beachside Inn. New owners since my last visit. Most definitely the best location on Rarotonga to stay with the sun sets and the fantastic snorkelling just steps away the use of all the snorkelling gear, etc is great. Steves intro was very useful for us even though we have visited before theres always new things to learn. Accommodation is a little overdue for some maintenance work, and bedding (pillows were really old) , furniture (particularly outdoor furniture where the springs had gone in the seats) could do with a bit of a refresh nothing has changed in the past 10 years apart from a paint job in the rooms. The fantastic music in the Shipwreck Bar, and the local staff were lovely. I'm no longer sure where this place sits in the accomodation genre; I had hoped to say it would have been 'a fun place to stay where you meet people feel special, valued, and want to return' but wondering if it is becoming more like a soulless 'resort' I think this is something that needs to be defined. There's changes to be made before I return.

Kia Orana Clare, Thank you for your review and your kind comments about our location. Sorry that you were not 100% happy. BTW we ordered new pillows weeks ago and they will be here soon. I'll have a look at the chairs. It was a shame that you didn't say anything while you were here, I'm sure that we could have resolved the problem if we'd have known about it. The Shipwreck Hut is always a fun place and we really enjoyed your company when you came to the bar. Meitaki, Steve, Geraldine and the A team.

I have been to many, many places in my life, but I have never experienced anything like it. Rarotanga is absolutely amazing, beautiful, splendid!
There are no words, in any language on the planet to describe such paradise...
Crystalline and turquoise waters, beaches with sparkling white sand, the soft sound of small waves that gently break on the shore...
The primeval noise of the huge Pacific Ocean waves in the back ground...
And then the sky ... sometimes of a transparent blue sometimes with indescribable spectacular colors that are reflected on the sea, creating an extremely fascinating and suggestive landscape..
Flowers... huge, colorful, scented ...
Exotic palm trees...
In Rarotonga you know that you are alive and you appreciate every moment of it ... you know that you are blessed to be here ... It's a privilege granted to few...
The fruits ... succulent, juicy, enormous ...
The people.... beautiful, genuine, charming, fascinating... always smiling, laughing, chatting...
When you are here you are under a spell... you do not want to leave...

What about Aro'a Beachside Inn?
You could not be in a better place. This is absolutely the "Number One" in the island. Here you have the best Beach, the best Accommodation, the best Beach Bar and the best Hosts and staff. You could not possibly ask for more.
Once in a life time offer a gift to the person you love or to yourself. The memory of the place and of the people will stay with you for ever.

There is a boat cruise down on Miri Brach that is really well done. But the best BY FAR. Is the Vaka Cruise on Aitutaki. The staff at the Aroa can help you set up either.

Kia Orana, Steve here, owner of the Aro'a Beachside Inn. We are constantly improving our property. This was the first ever comment that we had about pillows. We had ordered replacement pillows for all rooms (before this comment was made...) they should be here any day soon. As is often the case, guests leave comments on this public forum anonymous website. If people are not happy with something it is far better to say something at the time, then we can rectify any problems, if we don't know we can't do anything.
