Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a beautiful spot to have accom and eating area. Right on the beach. The gardens are kept immaculate. The rooms are clean. They will clean every day or only if you need. totally self contained Locker with padlock. You have the key Al is the boss. This bloke will do anything to make your stay easy and comfortable. He unlocked our room twice, drove us around to find a car rental. The staff are awesome, always ready to help, give you a heads up on what activities are top of the list to do The food from the shipwreck bar is always good. The vibe is just right People come in from all over to eat there but it’s never overcrowded Also whales every day out front (spot a whale. Get a free cocktail). Snorkeling right out front This place is the bomb

This was our first trip to Rarotonga and we stayed at Aro'a Beachside which was perfect as a couple being adults only accommodation. Really helpful & friendly staff. The units have everything you need and are comfortable & just a few steps away from both the beach & the bar/restaurant (Shipwreck Hut). Good value food & drinks & live music at the bar some nights. Great views everywhere & the beach is beautiful. Being September, we were able to see whales cruising past regularly at breakfast or in the evenings from the accommodation - truly amazing! The snorkelling in front of the accommodation was pretty much as good as anywhere on the island & we were in there most days. Borrowed kayaks as well. If you are without transport, the bus stops right outside and there's a supermarket a few minutes walk down the road. Other bars/restaurants etc are a bit more spaced out on this side of the island but there are a few other places within an extended walking distance along the beach or road - the Rarotongan, Beluga, Castaway, Falafel Shack, On the Beach etc....just might need to taxi back at night. Overall, we would totally recommend & wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!!

I would like to say a very big thank you to everyone at Aro'a Beachside Resort. I was a guest in Room 8... for a wedding of a beautiful couple from Coromandel. Lucky for me, I didn't have to travel far for the ceremony or the reception... it was outside my door😍 The Aro'a Beachside Resort felt like home...and all the staff were like family, absolutely 💯 fantastic... from the owner Al, bar staff, cleaners, and the beautiful ladies in the office. Nothing was a bother, very helpful, and excellent customer service, I couldn't fault it. My room, a large studio, very well equipped with e everything you would need. Walk out of your room directly to the beach, great bar, and great food, too. I am a long-haul flight attendant, and I have stayed in some of the most luxurious hotels around the world, but nothing beats being made to feel welcome every day. So, if you're looking for somewhere to stay in Rarotonga, you can't go past the Aro'a Beachside Resort. I give them 5 stars for making my stay such an absolute pleasure. Thank you, Al, Rachel, Anna, and all at Aro'a ✨️🌺👍👌⛱️😎😍

I stayed here last week with friends and this was my first stay at Aro'a Beachside Resort. This place is right on the beach and has amazing views. The units are self contained with their own kitchen. The staff are lovely, especially the manager Lisa. She even helped me with the snorkelling. The beach is safe and a great place to snorkel, as it is near some reefs. Aroa Beachside Resort, has its own restaurant/bar. The food is lovely. I had a couple of dishes; the Fish and Chips (the fish was beautifully cooked) and the Chicken burger was delicious. There is a good range of drinks. The Pina Colada I had was reasonable at $15, while other bars charge $17 to $18. Lisa also organised transfers to the airport, which was very helpful. I highly recommend this place, and will be my go to place when I next visit the lovely Rarotonga.

Great location on a beautiful beach. Al & Lisa are fantastic hosts, rooms are well equipped and comfortable. So much more welcoming than a sterile hotel. Whales & sunsets from the deck were amazing.

Our second visit to Aro'a and we weren't disappointed. We had arranged with the resort to have a very small, simple beachside wedding and they went out of their way to assist us. Thanks to Lisa and Sonny for being our witnesses and for making it a memorable day. This is our favorite part of Rarotonga with fabulous snorkeling off the beach in front of our unit. Great relaxed atmosphere with fabulous live music. Thanks again to Lisa and all the staff for making this a memorable visit. Donna and Steve.

My wife and I came for our silver wedding Anniversary. We have just had the most amazing 9days staying here. The staff have been so warm, friendly and helpful it's been great. They've made bookings at other restaurants around the island for us and even gave us a private taxi service to one at no charge. Nothing seems To be a problem and it's all done with a smile. Shipwreck Hut has been great for breakfast and evening drinks and dinner too. Rooms are just perfect with good showers. Bathroom etc. Bed was really comfy with extra pillows too. Great place without the huge price tag of others. Right on the beach front.

Clean, tidy with full facilities , located on a secluded beach. Al (new owner) and his super friendly staff go out of their way to make your stay a fun experience. Shipwreck Hut, also on the beach is famous for its superb menu, full bar with live music in the weekends all to the background of suf breaking on the reef and magic sunsets. This little piece of magic is the Jewel in the Crown on Raro, tucked away on the west coast and only 30 minutes from Avarua. This is our 5th trip to Aro’s Beachside Inn and we’ll be back again just as soon as we can get here. Well done Al, you and your team are just the best!!!!

We made the right choice to stay here for our week in raro. Location great, clean rooms and all the added extras like snorkel equipment including water booties. The staff were amazing and made our week a memorable one with their friendliness and advice on local activities. The shipwreck bar was literally 10 meters from our room which served great cocktails and with food 2nd to none. A few great nights were had with live music and chatting to the locals and friendly staff.. Definitely a 5 out of 5 if you're after relaxation and a bit of fun. Highly recommend. We will return

My husband & I spent 5 wonderful nights at Aroa's Beachside Inn in April & loved everything about it. The accommodation is clean & comfortable with an gorgeous view. The daily breakfast at the Shipwreck bar is basic, but nice. The evening meals & live music were great making you not want to go anywhere else. We were able to hire a scooter on site, which made life super easy & we made use of the complimentary SUP, kayak & water hammocks. The resort staff were all friendly & always on hand to answer questions or help with anything you needed. Lisa & Anna were especially helpful to my husband & I when I got sick, so a big thank you to them both. We will definitely return.
