On my fourth visit to the island, at a different resort each time, I found this little treasure of a place and fell in love with it immediately. It has great snorkelling at your doorstep; the rooms are as described and are very comfortable; there is a pool for those days when it is too rough to go snorkelling and it is situated at Aro’a beach which is part of the marine reserve.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment, on the second floor. We loved the beautiful, spacious balcony, which we sat on most evenings listening to the live music coming from Shipwreck Hut, while eating dinner. Whilst the bathrooms are a little tired, this was offset by the space and position of our dwelling. The music finishes at 9.00 p.m. so is not intrusive, but rather adds ambience to the whole beach front experience and the sunsets are the best on the island, in my view.
The food at Shipwreck Hut is reasonably priced and delicious. They will even bring it up to your room.
The manager Lisa and the owner of the resort Alan, are friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. All of the staff are amazing. The free WIFI in the rooms is also a huge plus.
I can’t recommend this place enough and plan to return next year.
Thanks Lisa and Alan for a fabulously relaxing stay.

Accommodation is right on a beautiful white sandy beach away from the crowds. I felt it had a more personalized feel than the big noisy resorts which was nice. The snorkeling was mind-blowing and all so close to the resort. The water's edge literally 40 feet from our balcony. The lagoon is safe even for novice snorkelers with the most amazing array of tropical fish which are almost close enough to touch. I saw well over 30 species of fish plus a turtle, octopus and an eagle ray.
July to October is when the whales pass through. We watched the humpbacks from the restaurant and photographed them breaching, a sight I will never forget.
Our accommodation was clean and comfortable with air con and everything you need. The staff are all friendly and helpful and always willing to help out. Nothing was too much trouble and always done with a smile. The Shipwreck bar and restaurant had great food and excellent pina coladas :) We planned on dining at a different restaurant every night but ended up having almost all our meals onsite as the food was really good, reasonably priced and it was just a great place to hang out. I loved the music which was just the right laidback vibe. The complimentary breakfast was good and had gluten free options available. I can't wait to go back!

This was our 4th visit to Rarotonga and each time we've had different accomodation. The search for our happy place is over and we will be coming back to Aro’a Beachside Inn for sure. The room was great, we could cook our own meals, bed very comfy, great dressing room and bag storage, excellent shower with solar hot water always available. Bathroom large and private. The deck looked straight onto the beach and was so spacious. The Shipwreck Hut is part of the complex and is a great place for the included breakfast, a yummy lunch or a very economical and delicious dinner. It’s very popular with people from other resorts and locals. We eat a vegan/plant based diet and as soon as we told the manager there were items added to the menu for us. Delicious fresh fruit and cereal for breakfast with toast and spreads as well. Tea and coffee available as well. A great start to the day. Live music every night except Sunday finished at 8:30. The snorkeling right out front is very good. We even got to swim with a turtle. The staff are wonderful. They make you feel like you’ve come to stay at a second home. The manager Lisa is awesome. You just have to mention something that you need and she goes the extra mile to make sure you have it. We stayed 12 days and we didn’t want to leave. Already looking forward being back there next year.

We recently stayed at the A’roa Beachside Inn and would definitely stay here again. The location is amazing as you can walk straight into the lagoon for great snorkling or laze by the pool.

The manager Lisa is amazing at running the place. The owner, Al, was went out of his way to assist us. Overall all the staff are terrific! Our room was as per the listing and it was comfortable and provided all that we needed.

The Shipwreck Bar serves yummy food and great cocktails and is popular with those staying at the inn and also with visitors. There is live music most nights but you don’t need to worry as it doesn’t go too late.

This was the perfect place for a wonderful eleven night stay. Everything you need is right here. Great location right on the beach (lovely sunsets). The accommodation has really good sized rooms; a new pool and the Shipwreck Hut bar where you get good meals and live music in the evenings. The bus stops right outside so easy to get around the island. Also just a short walk to the general store for supplies, so everything is very handy. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and the great service was consistent throughout our stay. Lisa the manager went out of her way to ensure our stay was stress free and comfortable, going above and beyond our expectations. She is a real gem. Many thanks to the whole team. Denise and Rob

I stayed here last week with friends and this was my first stay at Aro'a Beachside Resort. This place is right on the beach and has amazing views. The units are self contained with their own kitchen. The staff are lovely, especially the manager Lisa. She even helped me with the snorkelling. The beach is safe and a great place to snorkel, as it is near some reefs. Aroa Beachside Resort, has its own restaurant/bar. The food is lovely. I had a couple of dishes; the Fish and Chips (the fish was beautifully cooked) and the Chicken burger was delicious. There is a good range of drinks. The Pina Colada I had was reasonable at $15, while other bars charge $17 to $18. Lisa also organised transfers to the airport, which was very helpful.
I highly recommend this place, and will be my go to place when I next visit the lovely Rarotonga.

This was our first trip to Rarotonga and we stayed at Aro'a Beachside which was perfect as a couple being adults only accommodation. Really helpful & friendly staff. The units have everything you need and are comfortable & just a few steps away from both the beach & the bar/restaurant (Shipwreck Hut). Good value food & drinks & live music at the bar some nights. Great views everywhere & the beach is beautiful.
Being September, we were able to see whales cruising past regularly at breakfast or in the evenings from the accommodation - truly amazing! The snorkelling in front of the accommodation was pretty much as good as anywhere on the island & we were in there most days. Borrowed kayaks as well.
If you are without transport, the bus stops right outside and there's a supermarket a few minutes walk down the road. Other bars/restaurants etc are a bit more spaced out on this side of the island but there are a few other places within an extended walking distance along the beach or road - the Rarotongan, Beluga, Castaway, Falafel Shack, On the Beach etc....just might need to taxi back at night.
Overall, we would totally recommend & wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!!

This was the second time my friend and I have stayed at Aro’a Beachside Inn. I’ve never stayed anywhere else in Raro and have no intention of doing so, now that I’ve stayed at Aro’a which is owned and managed by onsite owners, Steve and Geraldine, a delightful Kiwi couple (and their lovely dog Dexter), who really make the place the special place it is.

Aro’a is an 'adults only' resort which would appeal to anyone wanting a quiet break, and is situated right on the white sandy beach beside the crystal clear water where it’s safe to swim and snorkel, amongst the colourful fish and coral. The units are spotlessly clean, and are well appointed for sea views and sun, and the gardens and grounds are beautifully maintained. The staff are friendly and welcoming and really help to give the place a ‘family feel’. The Shipwreck Hut & Beach Bar is the hub of the resort where a complimentary breakfast of fresh fruit and muffins is available in the mornings and drinks and delicious dinners served up in the evenings. Aro’a is definitely a resort with a difference, with a ‘homely’ feel that you don’t get at a large touristy resort. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

A perfect place for a perfect holiday 👌 😍. Hospitality has been so amazing. The staff are very friendly. Feels like home.

Lovely location. Beach front. Shipwreck restaurant literally within the resort. What more can you ask for?
We stayed here twice on both visits to Rarotonga.
On our return from Aitutaki, Lisa organised airport transfers for us.
We arrived Rarotonga on a Sunday and wanted to go to Muri night market. Lisa kindly lent us her car and literally said "go have fun girls".
We were shocked. The kindness is outstanding.
I 💯 recommend this place.
We'll be back!!!.

A’roa Beachside was a great place to stay. The room was comfortable and had everything you needed for a beach holiday. The staff were really friendly and helpful. It was great to wake up and be able to go for a swim in either the pool or the sea. We felt this side of the island was better for weather, swimming and better sunsets. The food was great and they had live music playing at the Shipwreck Hut each night. Didn’t go late so great if you wanted an early night. We would definitely stay here again as the staff were so friendly and helpful.

There is a boat cruise down on Miri Brach that is really well done. But the best BY FAR. Is the Vaka Cruise on Aitutaki. The staff at the Aroa can help you set up either.

Kia Orana, Steve here, owner of the Aro'a Beachside Inn. We are constantly improving our property. This was the first ever comment that we had about pillows. We had ordered replacement pillows for all rooms (before this comment was made...) they should be here any day soon. As is often the case, guests leave comments on this public forum anonymous website. If people are not happy with something it is far better to say something at the time, then we can rectify any problems, if we don't know we can't do anything.
