When we checked out of the property, we had a wait of 3 hours until our booked transfer at 1pm. There was a Raro Tours driver that turned up to transfer another couple at 10am. We asked if we could be transfered with them. The driver was downright rude to us and refused to take us. The reception staff noted this exchange and felt sorry for us. Lucky, who was a new employee on reception, called her husband, who was a night security employee at the same property, and had finished work that morning at 7am, and asked him to come and take us to the airport. As luck would have it, he was on his way to do the grocery shopping. We were whisked to the airport quickly. This is a great example of the"above and beyond " attitude that makes customers recommend others to stay there. Well done Lucky, you are a star.

Crown beach is a beautiful place to stay in Rarotonga. We stayed, as a couple, in one of the private pool suite villas. The accommodation was fantastic. Beautifully furnished, lovely outdoor seating, your own pool, outdoor shower for return from the beach and stunning interior design in the room. We had our own mini bar, separate toilet from the bathroom, double shower and a bath. We couldn’t fault the room we stayed in. The food and beverages were delicious. Some of the best cocktails I’ve had in Rarotonga. The staff were welcoming and friendly. However, Sam went above and beyond our expectations. Sam was always so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Thank you Sam for making our stay with Crown beach resort so wonderful. The only negatives/improvements we believe would make this place even more beautiful would be improvements to the gym facilities and cleaning the overgrown weeds and beach front. The gym has holes in the floor and the equipment is very run down. It’s a shame as it lets the rest of the beautiful resort down. The beach front has a lot of glass and debris which could be groomed, like other resorts, to make it safe to walk on and make the resort look well kept. There is also areas at the front of the “beach front villas” that need gardening attention. They are very overgrown and take away the beauty of the coastline and resort. Overall we would stay at Crown beach again. It was beautiful and a relaxing place for couples to get away.

This is our second stay at The Crown Beach resort. Our room was immaculate and tidied every day with a turn down service each night. The pool was fresh but certainly cooled you down. The beach showed a few scars of the recent king tides and wave surges. A few more small rocks and coral washed up which is out of the their control. The food was great as always with a reasonable menu selection. The cultural dinner and show was nice the potato salad and coleslaw were yummo!!! For us our greatest thanks were the staff… at the main reception- always friendly and helpful and the restaurant and bar staff, particularly Ruth and John were amazing. Ruth doesn’t stop…. Nothing was ever too much work and she remained polite throughout their long days of work. She is a most valuable member of the Crown staff and I hope a contender for staff member of the year. John found his feet quickly having arrived from Fiji only a week before. He did his best during some busy nights with some under staffing I suspect. Sunsets were magical and to be honest, the best side of the island. Less wind, sunsets and the warm afternoons. The policy of No under 16 years olds make it a peaceful few days.

A dreamy location. Perfect if you want to watch the sunset. Spacious villa. Loved the beach and hermit crabs at the front door of our villa. Loved the sound of the waves crashing on the reef. Loved watching the whales performing maybe a hundred metres from the reef. Restaurant struggled, perhaps due to covid.

We stayed at Crown Beach Resort and Spa for our 1st trip to Rarotonga. Booked based on recommendations of our travel agent, who had glowing reviews. The grounds are beautiful and the care/maintenance shows. I can’t say enough good things about the staff. In fact, the staff is really the main reason we would consider returning…. as we had some issues with the place for a bit of our stay. The main issue was the hot water----in that we had none. Initially they said it was a water pump issue and replaced the pump. This seemed to fix it for my wife to take a warm shower (not hot, mind you, but at least not cold). We were there for 8 days and had warm/hot water for maybe 3 solid days of the trip (in total). They initially were going to move us to another room but decided that the issue could be fixed…and it was warm enough weather that cool showers during the day were not too bad (but no fun in the mornings). Anyway, they never seemed to actually fix the issue, but gave us a complimentary late check out, which was nice. Be aware, the high-end restaurant that was previously on-site (Flambe) was talked up by our travel agent is, in fact, no longer open---although they still have signage up. They have food there during the day (pizza, burgers, etc) and a buffet-style breakfast at the bar/restaurant with some theme nights for dinner, but I’d say the food quality is a bit below-average, compared to other places on the island. Overall, I’d probably give it 2/5 stars (4-5/5 for staff and 1/5 for facilities). I’m not certain I’d book another stay there, but I’d definitely pick it over the massive chaos/crowd at the Edgewater Resort.

My friend and I spent a week in Rarotonga for a girls trip. Our stay at this resort was so enjoyable that we did not want to leave! The sunrises and sunsets on the beach were beautiful and the staff were so warm and welcoming that we left feeling like we had become a part of their family. The turn down service was lovely because we would come back to our room each night to the scent of fresh flowers. Anything we needed was never a problem and the spa treatments we had were really relaxing. One of the highlights was the buffet and cook island dancing demonstration on ‘Island Night’ at the resort. The icing on the cake was that after I arrived home, I realised I had left a treasured piece of jewellery behind. Thinking it had been lost for good, I contacted the resort and they kept looking until they had found it! I am amazed and will be eternally grateful to them for returning it to me. I would highly recommend staying here if you want to experience a memorable holiday because we will definitely be coming back.

This was our second stay at Crown Beach and I felt the place was a little bit tired and in need of some rejuvenation. Flambé was closed but the menu at Oceans had become more basic rather than stepping up (also there were supply issues that I know are out of their hands) and offering a more interesting range of foods. All the staff we met were lovely and could not have been more helpful. The staff are the biggest asset of the resort. Not good to be paying extra for WiFi (considering the room rate) and then finding that it doesn’t work in your room and you have to use it in public areas.

Kia Orana CookieCath, Meitaki for taking the time to review your stay at Crown Beach Resort & Spa. Although we naturally delight in receiving compliments, we also sincerely appreciate our Guests informing us of when our services and/or products fall short of expectations. We would like to apologize for the menu at Oceans Restaurant due to short supply issues. Management & staff have been working hard during the Lockdown upgrading some of the villas and pools and most of all the main pool which is in operational. We are always striving to improve our standards and therefore your comments will provide a valuable tool of reference during our Departmental Meetings and Staff Training Sessions. Your contribution is therefore appreciated. Once again, we thank you for your review and we hope to welcome you back to paradise again soon! Kia Manuia The Crown Beach Resort & Spa Team

We booked the Island Night at Crown Beach as it seemed like the "higher end" option. I was asked to pay 2 days in advance but arranged to pay early on the day, after picking up a rental car. The following email said just pay when you turn up, no need to pay in advance. After picking up our rental car, we cruised past Crown Beach and went in to confirm our Island Night booking anyway. Good thing we did because we were going to be bumped from the list! The receptionist said there were 90 people on the list and the restaurant manager only likes to have 60 people. The resort needs far better booking systems in place, especially now that there are a lot of tourists and a lot of people booking Island Nights. We turned up early and there were only a handful of people in the bar area. Even then the happy hour cocktails took a long time to arrive but were quite good. The setting with tables down on the beach is really beautiful, especially for sunset. It was obvious they had overbooked the Island Night, as at least one couple was at a different type of table, really close to the buffet with everyone walking past them. I hope they got a discount for being put in the cheap seats. The food selection was good and there was plenty of food for the mains, some dishes were les than half eaten. They seemed to under cater dessert. There was no cake left when we got to the front of the queue. Instead of brining out more red velvet cake, which was the most popular option, it got replaced with chocolate cake. The show was good, with lots of interactive elements and getting people up on stage. We booked a massage at Crown Beach for our final day in Raro. We turned up and the receptionist looked at as strangely and said there is no massage therapist on a Sunday. They called the massage therapist, who said they would not be coming in that day. We managed to fill in our day relaxing around the island but it was really frustrating. We booked 4 days in advance. If we were told there was no availability, we would have looked elsewhere. The receptionist didn't even offer to try and book us elsewhere, they just shrugged and acted like it was our mistake. I expected more from this level of resort and very glad we didn't pay the 100s of dollars a night to stay.

Such a mixed experience. Our room (a villa with pool / courtyard - room 25) was fabulous ... very large and nicely appointed, always clean and very private. The food at the resort was AWFUL!! The breakfast was greyed scrambled eggs and limited cereals ... it is an adults only resort - please replace cocoa-pops with something decent like muesli!! The fruit offered was apples, oranges and kiwi fruit; or browned dried apricots - not even the wonderful local bananas that were available elsewhere. The à la carte menu felt like it was from the 1980s and had no local foods. Nothing that was remotely appetising ... and once again, adults only resort - 100s and 1000s not suitable for the ice cream. The chef needs to look at what MODERN food looks like ... even avocado on toast with an egg would have been better. We also went to the Nautilus Resort where there was wonderful modern food - eat there! By far the worst experience was the Island Night ... beginning with 2 hours of horrid out of tune singing from the 1940s (whilst most of the other people were over 30 .... we're not in our 90s wanting to listen to old music!!) .... I think they might have got to the 1970s ... still music from before I was born! The food at the island night ... ugh!! I'm vegetarian which makes it a little harder ... but CANNED fruit salad on a tropical island?!?!?!? There were salads (greek?!) and some huge chunks of flavourless root vegetables. Then the island dancing was odd (different islands just have different frou-frou colours?!), the women are skinny but the men needed the coconut bras for their man-boobs and the drummers, who looked most interesting, were at the back in the dark. Not worth the money or time. We did have a giggle when they cancelled the seafood night because they didn't have the supplies - ummm ... the ocean is at their back door?!?!?! Whilst we recognise that supplies might be difficult on an island ... surely fresh seafood is the ONE thing they could come up with? I had a massage at the spa - which looked very dated. The therapist was OK (I also had massages at the Edgewater - which was awful and the Nautilus Resort - the best of the 3) but when found a sore spot - stopped massaging that area and moved on ... isn't the point of massage to address the actual body parts that are sore?!!! We ate out as much as we could because the food was so dreadful but LOVED the room and beach (no one else on the beach, fabulous snorkeling). The location means there are less tourists that the Muri side and that had its benefits and downfalls. It felt wonderfully secluded and was very restful for a holiday escape.

We had a nice relaxing 10 night stay at this lovely property. Yes, some parts of the resort are tired and in need of replacement or repair, yes, the WIFI is shocking (have been to third world countries that have better service) and its expensive, and yes those Roosters will do your head in. But, to spend time in a literal paradise is a small price to pay. Reception - We found staff friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Thank you again for helping us trying to find a car. Say Hi to Henry the Eel for us. Room - Very clean and tidy. The bed was comfy and the furniture was good. The bathroom was amazing, very well designed and fitted. Pool Garden - the private pool was perfect for cooling off, the hut was a nice spot to sit & read and the garden was simple but soothing. Ocean's Restaurant - Breakfast seemed a bit lacking, but it was all fresh and often replenished. The cocktails are great, the food is cooked with care and well presented and the menus are very well priced. Pretty good coffee too. We attended the Island Night and could not believe the value for $55pp. The buffet was very good and the show was outstanding - thank you for the education. The Beach - Vey natural, the lagoon is rocky but the corals and fish that live around them were abundant. Good snorkeling in June beautiful wildlife to be seen. We were assured that the water in the winter is too cold for Stonefish, but do wear reef shoes, just makes sense. The Low's - The wifi. We learned from some locals that the internet in Rarotonga is still provided via satellite, but the charge vs quality needs to be reviewed. We gave up after a couple of days. We understand that we were on a tropical Island, but its 2022 and connectivity is important to most. Maintenance Issues - We have read a number of reviews regarding this, and understand that Covid has impacted the upkeep of the hotel. But, we reported that our sliding door would not lock on day 3 of ten. It still was not fixed as we checked out. That isn't a Covid issue, that is a diligence issue. Villa 23 btw. The AC tried bless it, with little success. The High - The Staff are a credit to the property. We could see and understood that the F&B area was short staffed, but they worked so hard to ensure that guests had a good experience. Two people in particular we would happily applaud are Maretta & Manaea - absolute legends, Whatever you are paying them, up it, they are gold. Thank you for the help with the Birthday Cake, the serenade was a delight. Thank you for a very cool stay
