We had hoped to stay the night in Dinkelsbuhl but the prices were high and family suites hard to find. So as we were heading for Lake Como, Lagenau was on the way just 45 minutes down the autobahn. Admittedly not the most attractive settings - among warehouses etc but quite safe. One of the biggest family suites we've ever stayed in - comfortable, quiet and inexpensive. Nice continental breakfast. No restaurants close by for dinner (except McDonald's - yuk!) but we were able to get reasonably proces and tasty meal delivered. Receptionist was especially helpful including upgrading our family room.

The hotel has changed a lot in recent years, especially under the new managing director. The prices have risen and the quality has fallen.The rooms are not so clean anymore, defective shutters are not repaired in the rooms for over 1 year and the breakfast is very limited especially for vegetarians. Natural cream cheese,1 type of tasteless sliced cheese ,jam and rolls in petrol station quality for 15 euros per person.In the week you should not eat breakfast after 7.30 am as many artisans were then as guests and the buffet is empty.

I loved the ultra-high-pressurized shower, the huge family room with 4 (very comfortable!) beds + a big sofa, the location close to legoland, the small local pilsner beer offered at the reception for 2,50 eur and the breakfast was also ok for such ordinary motel. I didnt like carpeted floors (why is this not forbidden by law???) and no aircondition / ventilation which would be very useful because you cant really sleep here with opened window as the hotel is just next to the autobahn. On the other hand the windows are top german quality so if you close them the room is 100% silent then - but somehow hot during the summertime... Next time I would come back either in the spring or autumn:-)

Good value, friendly and warm reception, beers on tap for 2.00/2.50 euros at a minimal bar, kid-friendly, playground and board games, 60-odd euros for a double with no charge or paperwork for my two kids. Can't do much better in Europe, probably. Used it twice as a stopover between northern Europe and Italy, once in either direction. Even the McD's next door worked out well, with another playground and their garden salads for 1 euro each providing a good supplement to panini and our own vitamin-poor road food.

This hotel is close to legoland, just 15 minutes by car from park. They have rooms for 6 people. We stayed at such room. There were two double beds and one bunk. They have free wlan access (available with password given at chek-in). The hotel is near highway, but we didn't noticed any nois from traffic. Location of this hotel is in some sort of industrial zone, but is quiet. Nearby is McDonalds restaurant. Breakfast was conventional and there was plenty of food. Although the Coffe/milk and chocolate for kids was from machine, it tastes very good (it must be some special machine). Everything was very good. The hotel is not hard to find, just follow the instructions. We used this hotel to visit Legoland next day.
