We had been booked into Naseby because of the lack of available accommodation in Ranfurly because of film crews taking over the town.
Naseby is a great choice though. The Lodge is well situated with modern self catering rooms all constructed with an eco-friendly theme.
Sadly their on-site restaurant had closed because of Covid so we had to self cater. Not an issue but had we realised the cost of food at the small local dairy, we would have bought supplies in ranfurly before leaving!! None of that distracts from the Lodge being a great place to stay

A perfect night in Naseby Lodge after a big day out. The room was large, clean and with everything you need in it ! Very comfortable bed (perfect to recover) ! On top of a very friendly manager knowing the area well, we could enjoy a very good dinner and breakfast. Also very quiet!! Planning on going again soon with friends for another trip !

We had a lovely two night stay at Naseby Lodge whilst riding the Otago Central Rail Trail. We chose Naseby as the place to have a rest day as we wanted to try curling. Naseby Transfers collected us from Ranfurly, gave us a little tour of Naseby and then dropped us at the lodge.

Marilyn was really lovely and couldn’t do enough to ensure our visit was enjoyable. As they’d had recent flooding and water had to be boiled, Marilyn provided us with safe drinking water in large bottles. She also gave us plenty of breakfast provisions. Our chalet was very clean and comfortable. Everything is within walking distance. I would definitely recommend Naseby Lodge.

Our roomy unit at the Naseby Lodge was quiet and private. Welcoming and friendly host made sure we felt comfortable with our unit and services from the start. Well planned siting within the complex makes them private to have the doors open onto the verandah. Wold stay here again.

We had a fantastic stay at Naseby Lodge. The property is very tidy and the unit was clean and fresh, lots of room and extra seating/lounge space was great. Bathrooms especially nice. The owners Denis and Marilyn were onsite at the time and very welcoming, made us feel very at home. They also provided some great local information about the area. We look forward to returning in the winter for an ice skating and curling weekend away.

Overnight stop on the Otago rail trail. Shuttle driver who picked us up from Naseby Transfers was very rude. Basic self contained accommodations. not up to the standard of our other 2 stops. Breakfast was very basic. Cereal, Toast & fruit (not even any orange juice) Think we could have done better elsewhere

Thanks for your review. I sorry your "complementary breakfast" was not up to standard. If you have asked I would have provided you with some juice or other thing you felt you required for your to make you breakfast more acceptable. Naseby Transfers is its own company not connected to Naseby Lodge but I will past on you feedback.

It was 11 degC inside the unit when we arrived and the advertised 'central heating' was physically installed, but didn't appear to be on or available. The single small plug in heater wasn't up to the task. Rang the offsite manager, and somehow it was our fault that we were the only people staying and so the central heating was off and it costs too much to run and he wanted to save the planet. Fortunately, down the road was the delightful Royal Hotel where we could thaw out near a wood burner, and enjoy good food and service. Returned to the unit and I sat in my sleeping bag with a hot water bottle until it was time to go to bed. Bed had an electric blanket, so I guess that was good. Suggestion to Owners ..... If you can't or won't supply decent heating on a cold day (a) don't advertise it on your website and (b) don't be grumpy with us because we're disappointed.

Accommodation was clean but we were unable to get radiators working.
Despite having received a recent email confirmation that the restaurant was open and a table was booked for us it turned out not to be the case. After a phone call to the off-site duty manager I was advised that the restaurant had been shut since 'covid'. Very disappointed with that. But there is a fantastic pub in the village which were able to fit us in thank goodness, and we had a wonderful meal there.

A little underwhelming. The name "lodge" suggests a level of luxury that isn't really there. The rooms were clean and comfortable but the restaurant isn't open. The radiators weren't working but we had heaters which were fine. Looking at other reviews this appears to have been the case for a while. But Naseby is well worth going out of your way for when doing the rail trail and dinner at the local pub was lovely.

The restaurant dinner was all right but expensive and had a poor wine list with only three vineyards of B wine offered. The continental breakfast items in the room were quite the worst of our month trip in the country: cereal boxes, powdered Nescafé and pre-packaged fruit cocktail. No juice or fresh fruit was included or available when we asked. The beds and bedding were also a lower standard than comparable places. It wasn't worth the special effort and time to leave the Otago rail trail.
