The Shinjuku Washington Hotel Main offers a convenient location near attractions and public transport, though some guests note a bit of a walk to the metro. Travelers commend the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the functional amenities, including a variety of dining options. However, the rooms are often described as small and in need of an update, with some issues regarding maintenance and soundproofing. Opinions on service vary, with mentions of both professional staff and occasional slow check-in experiences. Despite its perks, many guests consider the hotel overpriced due to the cramped spaces and overall comfort.

My family and I stayed here for 4 nights in January 2020. Breakfast was good and you can choose from 4 different restaurants within the hotel to take breakfast. The hotel is also a short walk going to Shinjuku station but if you don't feel like walking, there is the WE bus stop just in front of the hotel. You can ride it going to Shinjuku station and costs only 100yen. There's a 24-hr convenience store within the building. On the negative side: rooms are small; room temperature was too warm so I had to request for a cooling fan; and lastly, the reception area and first floor smelled of too much smoke. This gave me a really bad headache the whole time I was at the reception area waiting for the limo bus going back to Narita airport. Hope the hotel can improve on this.

Dear Sir or Madam Thank you very much for your constrictive review and your time taken to do so. Your feedback is extremely valuable as we continuously strive to improve our service. Firstly, thank you for your positive comments on breakfast and our facilities and most importantly, we appreciate you for bringing the smoking smell issue to our attention. Please accept our sincere apologies to you about giving you a bad headache for a long time. Your feedback are fully addressed and please rest assumed that this problem will be discussed as our priority topic to be solved. In addition, we apologies for the any inconvenience caused of your size of room and a temperature in the room. Our hotel originally designed as business hotel so you may find out especially the single room is quite compact. Actually a cloak room is available for storeing big luggage, on the other hand please inform your ideal size of room at booking stage then we could recommend you a best room type for you. As you mentioned, as we have a central heating system the temperature cannot be adjusted. Therefore, we offer different type of equipment depends on the inquiries, for example a heater, blanket, electronic fan, multi functional warm/cool blower and so on. However, it is disappointing to hear that we could not meet your expectations in this occasion and let you down Again our sincere apologies for any disappointment and we hope that perhaps you may reconsider us for a future stay. Kind Regards Front desk Arai

Shinjuku Washington hotel located in the nishi-shinjuku area which take about 10 minutes (800 meters) walk from Shinjuku station. The room is quite big compared with other in this price range hotel in Shinjuku area. The lobby stand at the 3rd floor if the building, on the 1st floor and Underground floor of the building provided you many type of restaurants and convenience store. And also able to walk to Koshu-Kaido Ave. which is the area where Japanese salary man in the area hang out.

The hotel also provide the airport limousine service to both Haneda and Narita airport. The bus stop is right at the main entrance hotel which is easy for everyone to travel to the airport.

I choose this hotel for its proximity to Shinjuku station. It is one of the closest hotels to the station; nonetheless it took us a good 15 minutes to walk to and from the hotel to the various rail and subway lines. Shinjuku is a massive station.
The hotel must be very popular as the day we arrived pin Tokyo we tried to check in at around 1pm. However there was a very long queue of guests wanting to check in as well. We had to wait for more than an hour before we could approach the front desk. Once there however check in was smooth and fast.
The room was a triple bedder and small, there was hardly any space to lay our luggage. It had all the usual amenities and was clean. However our room was behind the lift well and there was a constant "whooshing" sound, caused by the displacement of air as the lifts went up and down, and was a distraction especially in the evenings as we were trying to sleep.
There is a small mall in the basement of the hotel with restaurants and two convenience stores which was convenient (pardon the pun). There is no laundry service within the hotel and the nearest coin operated laundry service is a good 20 minute walk away.
In summary the hotel did not live up to my expectations. The room size and noise generated by the lifts are considerations which would make me hesitate in choosing this hotel in the future.

The location is perfect. There are subway stops nearby as well.

This hotel was about 5-10 minutes walk to the shops/ restaurants of Shinjuku. Having said that there are also a number of restaurants within a couple of hundred meters ( including those in the basement).

We enjoyed strolling down to the craziness of Shinjuku main, but it is still super close to great sites such at the Tokyo metropolitan goverment building.

We stayed, for 3 nights and found it more than good.
We booked a double room and had space for both our suitcases to be open.

While the bathroom is small, the water pressure was good and the toiletries were of good quality.

I've stay just off the entertainment side Kabukicho Shinjuku before and also on the quieter west side, ie Shinjuku Washington Hotel and I find the later much better. This was the 2nd time I stayed here and I would stay here again if I visit Tokyo. Reception is on the 3rd floor with multi racial staff and automated counters so checking in and out was a breeze. Room was small as expected but clean and compact. Within walking distance from the Shinjuku station and Kabukicho area, Shinjuku Gyoen National garden. Loads of restaurants and shops around, including several on the ground and basement floor. Has the airport bus right at its doorstep for about 3000+ yen.

This is a very long overdue review from my stay of New Year Jan 2020

Location

This hotel is right in the business side of Shinjuku and well placed. Great shops just below and main floor, theres convenient store open 24/7 and restaurants within. Walking distance and easy access to Buses, train stations and yes Shopping Centres. Just outside a short walk is the Shinjuku National Park, as well as the Tokyo Metropolitan Building, and Cocoon Tower. Not to mention just short distance to all local or typical Japanese eatery, where local eats and some are open for breakfast if you want to eat like locals. And the price is reasonable.
Rooms

The rooms are typically of Japanese small size, not like your typical Hotel Chains. I booked a single room so I am not sure what its like for double bed. The room is very clean and well maintained.

Staff

Very friendly staff and very well accomodating. They will make sure you are comfortable with your stay.

Overall, I had a great stay at this hotel and would i recommend it? Definitely I would recommend this Hotel very highly. Clean, staff is friendly and hospitable, convinient location to Bus, Train stations and shops. The price is budget friendly and affordable for my 4 nights of stay. Theres also a bus that will take you to Narita or Haneda. The only thing I would recommend for improvement is that the reception lobby is on 3rd Floor, and if you arrive late night or midnight, you will have to find the reception since no one available at the main lobby or the information centre is close.

I love the fact that this hotel although still on walking distance from Shinjuku station is in quiet business district so you wouldn’t feel like you are overwhelmed by the station’s crowd.

Checked in was quick. Room for single booking felt a little bit tight so opening a medium size suitcase would be a challenge. Bed was very comfortable and spacious. Love the duvet and the mattress cover, they were so warm. Bathroom was also good with all the amenities.
Hairdryer, slippers, robe & tea facilities were provided.

Airport Limousine Bus was available for booking to Narita & Haneda airport. Staff were very helpful too.

It was a very pleasant experience ....

As you are probably aware, the Japanese people are small of stature, so Japanese architects are trained to design dwellings with shoebox dimensions. We suspect the rooms in the Shinjuku Washington Hotel in Tokyo feature prominently in the training manual. We were fortunate to have a slightly larger room on the curved end of the hotel, most are plain rectangular boxes.

The small entrance corridor doubles as your wardrobe, is home to the humidifier and another mystery unit, possibly a heater, and the entrance to your small modular bathroom. The bathroom, whilst small is functional, with the obligatory heated toilet/bidet, bath/shower and vanity basin. You may also need to boil your kettle here, so logistic layout and roster planning is essential. The rest of the room houses your double bed, prepare to be trampled as access is limited to one side, and a couple of uncomfortable chairs. So practice your synchronised breathing and prepare for encounters of the close bodies variety.

The highlight of the hotel is probably the breakfast venue on the 25th floor with its scenic view of the Tokyo CBD. The buffet breakfast scores a 9 out 10 for environment, 6 out of 10 for variety and quality, and the usual 2 out of 10 for the temperature of the hot breakfast fare. Another potential plus are the small restaurants on the lower floor for lunch and dinner, although the choice is limited.

The location is good close to the government buildings with its two free city observation towers, nightly light show and landscaped gardens and parks. Check-in is slow, check-out is lightning fast. Unable to comment on the tariff but in retrospect we would probably be looking for a hotel with bigger rooms. “My foot has gone numb, you must be standing on it, dearest!”

We stayed here for 9 nights on our first trip to Tokyo this month as part of a British Airways flight+hotel deal. We arrived several hours before check in was open but the front desk were super nice and looked after our luggage for us while we went for an explore nearby.

There are several konbini in the hotel building so we were able to stop by Family Mart for a well-needed energy jelly and then pop over to Lawson for one of their famous egg-mayo sandwiches! The Lawson store here is unique as it has a whiskey bar attached where you can eat your fried chicken from Lawson and drink whiskey's selected to go with it. Drinks are cheap too from 500Y!

There are LOTS of restaurants in the hotel building too, from an indian curry house, to Chinese, Korean, and lots of Japanese of course! There's even an izakaya that lets you catch your own fish for dinner from their indoor fishing pond, but best to make a reservation for this!

For pachinko fans there's a parlour attached to the hotel (it's noisy in there but you can't hear it in the hotel at all) and a karaoke bar downstairs.

The room we stayed in on the 12th floor was small but comfortable, perfect for our requirements. Cleanliness was great, there's a fridge in here too and microwaves for use in the lobby or outside the Family Mart downstairs.

Our room was near the lifts so around 11am it got a bit noisy with people checking out, but 11am isn't early so that wasn't a problem.

The staff are very friendly, there's a ROBOT that will deliver amenities to your room on request for free, and all in all I really recommend it!
On floor 25 there's a bar/restaurant called Manhattan with GREAT views of the city looking north towards the Tokyo Metropolitan Building (which is only a block or so away so if you want a free city view from the top of a huge building, definitely head there!)

It's 10 mins walk from Shinjuku Station, and cabs are plentiful.

We're heading back to Tokyo next February but the Washington Main wasn't available sadly, so we're staying nearby and will definitely pop back to Lawson to have another delicious bit of chicken with a whiskey chaser!

The hotel had a notice at the counter stating that, since it was winter and the temperature was cold, the central A/C service was set to “warm” and there was no way to turn on the “cool” option. Our room was extremely hot most of the 4 days we stayed there (we visited Tokyo for new year’s eve) and the solution was a small fan. Room is a typical Japan room (small with barely space for your luggage) but with low-height ceilings making the room even hotter... We would not recommend staying here during the winter as it seems the a/c situation is a rule they have.
