The Hyatt Regency Tokyo receives mixed feedback from guests who commend its prime location and clean environment but criticize the dated condition of its rooms. While the hotel's cleanliness and serene atmosphere are frequently praised, the classic ambiance does not compensate for what many guests consider overpriced and outdated rooms and amenities.
Despite the friendly and helpful staff reported by some, there are also accounts of dismissive service, leaving the overall impression of the hotel as somewhat inconsistent.

Detailed Reviews
The staff were on point and were helpful and accommodating. The club rooms had a beautiful bathroom and were very spacious compared to other Japanese hotels I've stayed at. I booked the club room for 17,000 Chase UR points and I would recommend the club room over the base room just for the extra space alone. The club lounge had a good spread of food for breakfast and there is a 7-11 conveniently located downstairs. The hotel itself is easy to get to by the Oedo subway line, the the underground walkway and hotel shuttle bus from Shinjuku station, and the Airport Limosine bus. Awesome hotel and I would highly recommend staying here.

I stayed here for the best part of three weeks on an extended business trip to Tokyo in September and October 2019. From a business traveller point of view, there was very little to complain about bar the rooms being a little dated. There was also some scuffed paint work in the room. However, the room was HUGE by Japanese standards.
I believe I had an upgraded room, which could be why it was just so big but I had colleagues in smaller rooms and they were still very generous by Japanese standards.
The location is excellent. The 7/11 convenience store which is part of the hotel complex is very convenient. My one complaint was how pricey the food was, it was great though, it suited me to have room service a lot due to my work situation but if I was on holiday, I don’t think I would have eaten in the hotel so much.
The shuttle bus was great.
One let down was the hair salon which had virtually no appointments despite the hotel ensuring me in advance it wouldn’t be a problem. They were focusing more on weddings but the concierge wouldn’t recommend anywhere else.
Small complaint but worth nothing.
Huge thanks to Kenko who didn’t just help me with my bags but ensured a few messily packed bags were tidied up!
Highly recommend for business travellers! Think good for tourists too. I hope to be back!

Under the state of emergency declaration in Tokyo for the COVID-19 pandemic, I stayed here for 5 nights to make progress on my work. Wifi connection was stable even for Zoom meetings. I had to sign in for the wifi network every 24 hours which was little troublesome. The staff on the lobby level were always helpful for check-in, check-out and making arrangement for transportation. The bakery shop on the lobby level provides excellent options for snacks and sweets for gifts. The restaurants at the hotel had limited hours of operation because of the restrictions introduced by the Tokyo municipality government. There are two convenience stores on the first floor level (it is below the street level) outside of the hotel. The next door of Sumitomo Building has large sized shops and restaurants. They were in operation until 20:00. Through underground pathways, you can easily walk to the next building without getting wet. It was quiet environment for work. A walk in a large park located next door was good for refreshing. There is a Starbucks cafe in the park to get refreshment and snacks.

The location of this hotel is very quiet, with free everyday shuttle service to Shinjuku. Room was clean, and always kept clean by housekeeping. Lobby was huge and very presentable with two huge chandeliers in the middle. Hotel staff were very accomodating and eager to help out. Concierge helped a lot with our restaurant bookings and followed up if we were not able to respond back. I know it is very safe in Japan, but just to suggest that maybe you can update the elevator to have a card reader to only bring you to your floor. Also, maybe make the mattress a little softer as it is is too firm for me, and the pillows a little firmer. Otherwise, I would come back to this hotel on my future visit, or recommend to others.

I stayed in a king be view room on the 22nd floor. The room was a good size with decent size bathroom. The hotel is positioned within 10 minutes walk of Shinjuku station and the main restaurant area of Shinjuku.
Restaurants in the hotel were very expensive, but worth the 10 minute walk into Shinjuku main's district for plenty of choice of restaurant.

This property is tired, which is such a shame because every single staff person we’ve met has been amazing and helpful. The owner needs to invest in a REAL refurbishment. I am staying (and paying extra for) a refurbished room and it is no different than the non-refurbished room I stayed in 2013.
However everything is very clean and in working order. Some street noise from the government buildings nearby, but good Shinjuku location and very convenient shuttle every 20 minutes.
The main restaurant is very good and I think has reasonable prices for Tokyo. The upstairs bar has a good selection of whiskey.
I would stay again for business as my company doesn’t pay much for hotel stays, but on my own dime there are more modern options in Tokyo.

The Hyatt Regency Tokyo is located in an excellent location only minutes away from Shinjuku Station (a shuttle is provided too). It is also directly connected underground to the local Marunouchi Subway line which is a huge plus.
The hotel room itself was extremely clean, the amenities were great, and the staff were professional. I recommend the hotel as a great and convenient spot for a trip to Tokyo.

Aging property but very well maintained. This is a huge hotel in the heart of Shinjuku district of Tokyo. Its not very close to the Shinjuku station, incase you are using the JR lines but there is a subway line that departs from right underneath the hotel. The rooms are very well maintained for the age of the hotel, very clean and crisp linens, great views of the park behind the hotel especially in the fall when trees are changing colors. I am a globalist but was not upgraded. Breakfast is free for globalist in lounge, its above average, not too many hot items, but the basics like bread, pastries, eggs and coffee were good. Overall good value in Tokyo.

We stayed in the hotel in Feb 2023 and there were 3 of us in the room which the hotel accommodated with 3 single beds as we requested. The room was clean and spacious. The staff were exceptional and the foyer area is beautiful. The carpets and furniture were a little bit old in the room but still well maintained. This hotel is definitely value for money for what you get and the location is very close to the busy train station which has many connections to most lines. We were able to walk to the train station in 5 mins. The hotel is away from the very busy shopping streets but we preferred that as you could be in the busy shopping area within a 10 min walk anyway. Plus there was a 7/11 store directly underneath the hotel which never closed. All in all, our stay was very comfortable and enjoyable.

Warm and welcoming staff, clean, and located outside the louder areas of Shinjuku, this should be a 4 or 5 star stay. However, this hotel is in serious need of room renovation. Close to a $500-$600 stay per night requires an attention to detail that the Hyatt Regency Tokyo unfortunately does provided. Bathrooms with old fixtures, dated electronics and furniture, and poor room layout to maximize space. Even soaps and amenities are similar to what is received at a 2 star hotel. All in all this closer to a 2.5 star rating for me, however will not be returning anytime soon.

Can't remember exactly but approx 40-45 floors?
Marcus, the hotel is very good to answer any question you have. I requested a copy of my bill and I got the response within 24 hours.
Actually, there are quite a lot of reasonably priced traditional restaurants quite near to the hotel. I don't know if they all have menus in English, but they often have pictures of the food outside.
Best to contact the hotel for these issues.
