After flying into Dunedin we drove down and stayed just the one night so we could do Balclutha parkrun (400m walk away) on Christmas Day. Unit was clean and tidy and just as we would expect. A continental breakfast was supplied at a small cost. Hosts were very friendly and passed on helpful local knowledge that might be useful to us. There was street noise being on State Highway 1 but being tired, we didn't really notice it so much. Plenty of off street parking.

The motel was easily found as it was located on the main road. The proprietress was very cheerful and a mine of information about our trip to the Nugget Point. Our bright and airy room was up to the standard we had come to expect around the country.

This motel is clean and comfortable. The studio unit included kitchenette with microwave, kitchen sink and a full stove with elements and oven which I was pleased to see as we could make our own meals and wash the dishes. The unit had sky channels with Sky Movies which was a treat. The fluffy throws on the beds are a nice touch.

Checked in for one night but stayed two. This motel is old but refurbished to a high standard. It is very clean and comfortable with a really good bed. Little kitchen has full size oven and is well equipped. I would not hesitate to recommend.

We stayed here 3 nights, and whilst a bit dated, the unit was clean, spacious, had a park outside, and the bed was very comfortable. Netflix and Sky selections were good on a big screen tv. The heat pump made the unit cozy at night. The cafe over the road does breakfast and good coffee and the only day off they had, was Easter Monday, when Subway was open. For rural New Zealand, we thought this was a good place to stay as long as you aren't into modern pretty decor. You could isolate here very safely. It is close to Gabriel's Gully or Nugget point for day-tripping, and sadly the Clutha punt wasn't in action due to low water levels, but we'll do this next time.

Really comfortable and affordable rooms. Great to have a kitchen in the room so I could cook my own meals. 50 sky channels was great as I was travelling by myself. Owners are really friendly. This will be the only place I stay when travelling through Balclutha.

We chose this property hoping its location would live up to expectations. It is actually around 900 metres to the town centre. We were planning to eat at the cafe across the road but sadly it was Sunday and the nearby Four Square closed at 6pm as was everything else except the pub. There were renovations in progress so we we given what looked like a disabled room on the end with ample parking at the door. Our room had a separate bedroom with a Queen bed which was very comfortable, but wondered why wasn't there a cover on an extremely shabby and tattered doona? At $140 per night we expect better. The kitchen facilities were good, but lacking microwave dishes. Our bathroom was gloomy and despressing, lacking bench space to place toilettries. In fact, the whole unit looks tired and needs to be upgraded with new flooring, curtains etc. The 70's wall sconces and lampshades definitely need to be retired and adding a good few light globes would improve things. It needs styling! Good to have television with 50+ Sky channels including all sport channels and movies with free free and unlimited wifi. There are heat pumps and air conditioning in all rooms, and a fan which made for a comfortable stay.

Thank you for your feed back Carole. We have been here less than 2 years & have upgraded what we saw as the immediate issues due to reviews we read prior to purchasing the property. Heating was a high priority. This room is an access room but we also use it for other guests. We will take on board your comments as our upgrades continue. Im pleased you found the bed comfortable & enjoyed watching the sports

This motel in on the main street, but is very quiet. Check-in was very easy and we were shown to our room which was very clean and tidy. Parking our vehicle was excellent as we have a large ute. We would certainly stay there again,

The room and bathroom were spacious, good facilities, and nice shower. The extra pillows were a bit hidden but were there all along. This is good clean basic accomodation on SH1 but through traffic is rare overnight. Walk to eateries, shops and the bridge or park and Clutha river. High light for us was the Rosebank Cafe proximity with yummy breakfasts, great coffee and a huge range of foods, even catering for the resident vegetarian. The cheese rolls were great for a kick starter fir the day, and it opens at 7am.
